Chapter 62 - Untitled

"Hey?" Mia replied with a softer voice, her palms sweaty, her lips pursed and her eyes shifty as Sabrina advanced.

"Why is my brother mad?" She asked and Mia looked up at her hoping to see disgust in her eyes but Sabrina eyes only held softness in them.

Following her movements, Mia watched Sabrina sink slowly into the bed just beside her before flashing her an attractive smile.

"I mean no harm." Sabrina encouraged after noticing Mia clenching and unclenching her fists.

"I know." Mia lied through her teeth.

"It's because of the picture." She continued either ways not wanting to keep bearing Sabrina's gaze on her face.

"Picture?" She caught Sabrina's confused stare and gave a single nod, afraid to nod again.

"What picture?"

"He was with a girl … and he was younger." She shivered a little, throwing her gaze swiftly to the door just in case Rey decided it was the best moment to sweep in like a terrible flood.

"Blonde?" Sabrina questioned with a loathing smirk adorning her lips.

Mia nodded more slowly and carefully this time, unsure if she should actually nod at all.

She watched Sabrina sneered before puffing out air through her mouth, run her hand over her hair to scatter them only to blow them off her face with the air she expelled through her lips.

"Hasn't he told you about Vennesaa?" She glanced at Mia from the corner of her eyes and watched the frightened lady shake her head in response.

"I see." Sabrina nodded.

"You need to calm down. I won't bite and Rey wouldn't either. He chosed you and I believe he loves you…"

Mia pursed her lips at the mention of Rey loving her. At first she had to fight to hold back the bout of laughter but immediately after, a wave of sadness hit her on the dawning of her reality.

"He'll come around soon." She smiled encouragingly at Mia but all Mia wanted her to do was let her be.

"I like you." She faced Mia fully now and Mia's eyes almost popped from their sockets.

She knew this was the aim, to make Rey's family accept her so that their guise can be perfect and go unnoticed but now that one of the Davies had actually professed that she liked her, Mia was not so sure she wanted to do this anymore.

What would happen when their secret got exposed?

Mia's hands tightened to a close fist as she struggled to calm herself and not think about the repercussion of her actions.

"Hey? You don't need to get so nervous." Sabrina's hands covered her and she jolted.

Her hands were soft but in this circumstance, it felt like hot coal to Mia.

"All you need to do is gather as much self confidence as you can and I am sure Rey would do the rest. Okay?" She peered earnestly from behind her lashed at Mia.

Mia could not resist looking into Sabrina's eyes before nodding gently. "Okay."

"I'd see you later." Sabrina was up again with a bright smile Mia almost envied and then she was gone, walking out the door confidently and leaving Mia alone in her dark universe.

Swallowing back the tears that threatened to run down her cheeks, Mia jolted at the sound of her phone.

Checking it out, her eyes brightened. It was a text from Beatrice. Clicking nervously to see the picture of Beatrice, Andrew and most especially Lucio all smiling at the camera made her tears break free.

There was another sound from the phone, it was another message from Beatrice. "Andrew is such an Angel." The text read and Mia was forced to give a chuckle in the midst of her warm tears.

"We are about to leave Detroit." Was another and Mia gave a deep sigh. It was a relief and with the sigh, her back straightened, this moment was more important than ever. She had to make sure nothing went wrong again.

Drying her wet eyes, she set her thumbs to type back a reply to Beatrice when the door pushed open. Snapping her head up to see the door reveal the sneering face of Mrs. Davies Mia hand shook and at once, she jumped to her feet.

Without a word, Mrs. Davies advanced, closing in on her like a predator while Mia stood still, her face pale, her pores pouring out sweat, her heart thrumming in her ears till the thought of blurting out an apology infiltrated her head.
