Chapter 70 - Talk To Her

A week to Mr. Davies' birthday and the relationship between Mia and Rey had gotten even better. They were a lot freer around themselves with Rey doing most of the cooking and Mia watching from the sidelines.

After their first sex and leaving Lucas at the hospital, Rey had opened up to her about his trauma of being in love after Vennesaa and she had found herself trying to comfort him.

Days went by and Rey's cold personality had dissolved around her, she found herself looking at a completely different person. A green flagged golden retriever but it was still difficult to find herself returning his confession from their first night together.

Rey had longed to hear her tell him she loves him too but didn't want to force it. He decided it was best to take it slow and not rush her into it, only doing his best to keep her comfortable while ignoring his mother's rants about not being okay with him being engaged to his cook.

He had suggested that she move into his bedroom but Mia had refused him with an excuse of wanting her own privacy since they still weren't married yet.

They went on dates and slowly, Mia had begun opening up to him with them trooping in and out of the hospital for Lucas' sake.

Beatrice wasted no time with moving in with Andrew after announcing that they were together but she made sure to visit once in a while and cause a wreck to Mia's nervous system.

One of those days, he had eavesdropped on their conversation to hear Mia confessing to sleeping with him and Beatrice singing it all day long till Mia thought she would die of embarrassment. Then she said, "I think it's far better talking to you on phone than meeting you in person."

Just a week to his father's birthday and the both of them decided to spend their time cuddling on the couch to see a movie.

He had her lying against his chest, his hand drawing sensual circles around the bare skin of her waist. He had fought the urge to kiss her several times and when he couldn't hold it in again, he poked her cheek with the other finger and she turned to face him.

"I want to kiss you." He informed and watched in pleasure as her cheeks had a light shade of red to them.

Without waiting to hear her reply, afraid that she might say no to him, he leaned in and captured her lips only for the door to burst open, jolting both of them.

An angry eyes stared back at them.

"Rey!!" Celine shrieked like an extremely excited bird.

Mia found herself sitting up in an instant, her brow creasing as she studied Celine.

"What are you doing here?" Rey sounded cold, he held on to Mia's hand, not letting go even when she tried to escape his hold.

"What do you mean what am I doing here?" Celine eyed Mia before focusing on Rey.

"What were you guys doing when I stepped in?" She had her free hand on her waist.

"That is no way to walk into a person's house." Rey sounded far too calm for an angry person.

"Get out." He ordered and when Mia turned to look at him, she regretted it instantly.

His face was icy, bringing back memories she wished to forget.

"Duh! You mum sent me here so you had better call her and get her permission to send me back home." Celine chirped like an annoying bird and Rey's grip on Mia tightened.

"Where is your room?" She questioned Rey, completely ignoring Mia.

"Oh! Nevermind, your mum gave me directions already." She smiled at the motionless Rey and continued up the stairs like she wasn't an unwelcome guest.

Mia looked back at Rey's tensed face.

"Do something." Her voice was low, her face pleading but Rey just sat, his eyes intense and calculating.

"I'd have to talk to my mum."

"No. Her. Talk to her." Mia pointed towards the stairs, her frown deepening.

"I don't want to face her now, I'd end up hurting her and my mum would be freaking mad."

"I need to get water." Mia replied instead, staring off into space.

Rey loosened his grip and she walked off without looking back only to come back in time to see Celine throw herself at Rey while holding her gaze, an annoying smirk gracing her lips.

Rey sat frozen on the chair for a few seconds but when his eyes caught Mia's hurt ones, he hurriedly pushed Celine off him. He hadn't even noticed her creep up towards him to throw herself at him.

"Ouchh! Be a gentleman!" She glared at Rey from where she was sitting.

"Leave my house!" Rey was on his feet, glaring back at her.

"Make me." She threatened before standing up to her feet.

"I would be here all through the weekend and I would stay in your room. Your mum said so." She held her head high.

Ruffling his hair, Rey heaved before marching towards her to grab her hand but as if knowing his intentions, she took her phone out of her pocket and waved it before him, her hand hovering around the dial button.

"Touch me and I'd dial her number instantly."

"You are crazy!" Rey held back a great deal from doing something he would end up regretting.

Mia had enough, she looked from the crazy Celine to the helpless but angry Rey and decided it was best to protect what was left of her heart and leave.

Catching Rey's pleading eyes for a fraction of a minute, she turned back towards the direction of the kitchen and walked into it, her legs going faster than her brain could at that moment.

"Where do you think you're going?" She heard Celine's desperate voice and Rey's struggle before another "ouch!" From the supposedly hurt Celine.

"Why do you keep pushing me to the floor!?" She whined and Mia felt sick to her stomach.

She bent over the kitchen sink, her eyes blazing with tears. What was the use of telling him she felt the same as he did with all this baggage?

She heard the door open and felt him walk inside slowly, keeping his distance.

"Mia?" He called her but she pretended not to hear him.

The door clicked to a close and Mia tensed.
