Mia's lashes only fluttered when she felt the feathery touch of Rey's lips on her cheek and the smell of his soap but she still did not open her eyes to meet his.
When he whispered into her ears that he was off to work, she only smiled and kept on sleeping. But when her door was forcefully open, her eyes sprang open.
"Still sleeping, huh?" On hearing the unfriendly voice of Celine, Mia gritted her teeth before sitting up.
"Good morning." Her greeting felt like bile in her mouth.
"Lazy brat." Celine clicked her tongue in distaste before looking around like she had something in particular she was looking for.
"With all due Respect Celine, I'd rather you leave my room." Mia's face was unsmiling and getting her mood soured up early in the morning wasn't something she fancy.
"Should I really?" Celine made a show of tucking her blond hair behind her ear before moving forward.
Mia's frown deepened but her senses went hyper alert. She was sure ready to do anything to dodge Celine's physical contact to avoid being framed for something later.
"You think I don't know the nature of your relationship with Rey, huh?" She sat down comfortably on the bed and Mia's heart began to thunder.
"What do you mean?" Mia questioned, trying her best not to let her fear show.
"Maybe you can tell me yourself." Celine produced a rough looking paper from nowhere, shoving it at Mia's face.
Mia looked at the content of the paper and it felt like her blood got drained out of her body, she began to sweat heavily and her lips trembled without forming words.
"So what's up?" Celine had an amused smile on her face that Mia wanted to smack away. It was like she was telling her she had finally emerged victorious.
"Where did you get that?" Mia asked instead, it took lots of effort not to stutter. She looked back at the photocopied copy of the original document which was torn.
"In his room, dummy." Celine rolled her eyes.
"You went through his things!" Mia accused but Celine sneered.
"And you are playing with his family." She countered, easing back to have a good look at Mia.
"Don't do this." Mia's voice was almost pleading, she felt shattered and at the mercy of Celine.
"Do what?" Celine's eyes were mocking.
"Ooh! You mean exposing your deeds?"
"Of course I would." She continued and Mia felt her heart drop to the pit of her stomach, tears stung her eyes.
"I would go into details, explicit details of your deceit and watch you get locked up." Celine blinked like what she said was supposed to be cute and Mia found herself scurrying out of the bed to go on her knees.
She was desperate. She already had it tough and going to jail wasn't part of the plan, it was only going to make her bad decisions even worse.
"Please." Mia begged, inching close to touch Celine's feet but Celine scooted away like Mia had a transferable disease.
"I'd do anything you want." Mia's eyes had already started leaking tears, she was desperate to save her head.
"Would you?" Celine tilted her head to the side.
Mia nodded so hard that she got a headache, it felt like she shook her brain while nodding.
"Alright then, pack up and leave before Rey comes back."
"What?" Mia's muscles weakened.
"You won't?" Celine was a walking demon, her smile was eerie.
"Exit his life without his notice and you'd be spared. Breath a word to him about this and watch your life go down the drain." She threatened and Mia nodded slowly.
"You see…" She had a crazy smile on her lips.
"I was meant to be Mrs. Davies and not you." She turned mean and glared at Mia.
"Not you, not anyone else!"
***
Rey stepped into the sitting room, parts of his clothes wet with rain.
"Hey Baby!" Celine squealed and ran towards him with her hands outstretched.
Frowning in disgust, Rey stepped aside. "Don't cross the boundary."
Without waiting to hear her muffled response, he climbed up the stairs, straight to Mia's room.
He knocked but the door creaked open on the first touch and he frowned. Walking into Mia's room to find the bed made and Mia missing made his head blare an alarm but he tried to be rational.
'She's probably in the toilet.' He thought and walked towards the door to the toilet to knock but it squeaked open too and that was when he realized that all the toiletries were gone.
He stood frozen by the door, unable to process what he saw. Snapping out of his blank state a few minutes later, he rushed to the wardrobe to find it empty.
Frantic and Frenzied, he looked around the room and under the bed without thinking.
"MIA?" He shouted her name but received no answer.
It suddenly clicked, Celine's weird attitude when he came back. Not wanting any second, he fled down the stairs towards Celine who was smiling like her life depended on it.
"Where is Mia!?" He walked towards her with heavy steps, towering over her.
When he realized that Mia could be anywhere, he suddenly ran into the kitchen but came out with eyes ranging with madness and without her.
Running out of his house towards the main quarters, he bumped into Gary and he got startled.
"Mia. Where is she?"
"Eeh…The guest…" Gary started but Rey didn't wait for him to finish, that was all he needed to know.
Rey ran out into the rain, back to his house.
Inside the sitting room, he paced with his phone to his ear but Mia's numbers were disconnected before they even rang.
"I don't think it's necessary to get worried about something so small. You're all wet and you'd get sick from the cold." Celine stated, matter-of-factly and Rey's bloodshot eyes rested on hers.
Without thinking and before Celine could react, Rey had his hands around her neck.
Celine kicked and struggled for air but Rey only held her neck tighter. His eyes were red and angry and Celine feared that he wouldn't think twice before finishing her off at this rate.
She tapped his hands violently, her face turning blue, she was ready to talk.
"Start talking." Rey barely spared her a look.
