And the most mysterious thing of all—
The Ed Gold Vault didn't even have a website. In this internet age, a vault completely disconnected from the web was nearly unheard of.
Around 2 PM, a white dove flew out of Zhang Yang's house.
At the same time, Kaitō Kid's account posted a new update.
"Legends… will always be witnessed."
Attached was a photo of a new calling card.
"Under the full moon, I shall appear at the Ed Gold Vault, to witness the legend of an ancient emperor!"
Every day after noon, Zhang Yang would post an update with a new calling card.
So half an hour earlier, people were already camping on Kaitō Kid's page, waiting for his latest update.
[What? Ed Gold Vault? Is Kaitō Kid crazy?]
[The Ed Gold Vault in Britain? The vault where the annual storage fees can exceed the value of the items themselves?]
[Oh my god! The Ed Gold Vault is a fortress of steel, with flawless security. Kaitō Kid's going to take on the vault?]
[He's going to witness a legend? An emperor's legend? What does that even mean!]
[Please, Harrison, make sure to be there and livestream the whole thing. I don't want to miss this legendary moment!]
At this point, no one was even questioning who would win—Harrison or Kaitō Kid. Many had simply turned Harrison into a glorified cameraman, a live-streaming operator for the show.
Meanwhile, MI5 agents under Harrison immediately flagged Zhang Yang's latest post.
"Harrison, sir! Kaitō Kid's next target is the Ed Gold Vault!"
"He's already issued his new calling card!"
Harrison's face darkened as he picked up his radio.
"Copy that."
A calling card every single day—more punctual than his own working hours at MI5.
"Kaitō Kid… have you lost your mind?"
The Ed Gold Vault was one of Britain's top three vaults, famous across the entire country.
Two years ago, Harrison had visited the Ed Gold Vault.
At the time, there were undercover intel operations using the vault as a transit hub.
From a security perspective, the Ed Gold Vault was absolutely rock-solid.
Even Harrison, as an MI5 field agent, couldn't deny it.
"Kaitō Kid… this time, the Ed Gold Vault will be your final act!"
With eyes full of resolve, Harrison stood and headed to the meeting room, ordering his agents to contact the Ed Gold Vault and coordinate the operation.
After all, MI5 had jurisdiction in Britain, making coordination with any organization or department much easier.
The Japanese Embassy, by comparison, had a much harder time getting involved.
"Albert-san, please reconsider!"
"Our side will absolutely not harm the interests of the Ed Gold Vault. Kaitō Kid poses an extreme threat to your facility!"
Kawasaki was now humbly speaking with the vault's director, Albert.
Albert had complete confidence in the vault's security and had no intention of working with the Japanese Embassy.
He certainly wasn't going to allow Japanese agents into his vault.
"Mr. Kawasaki, thank you very much for your concern," Albert replied politely.
"However, the Ed Gold Vault has its own security systems in place to ensure the absolute safety of our clients' valuables."
"So I'm sorry, but we cannot cooperate. If Kaitō Kid dares to appear at the Ed Gold Vault, I'm confident our security force will capture him without fail!"
Kawasaki wanted to push it further, but Albert gave him no chance.
"Mr. Kawasaki, I'm very sorry, but I have other matters to attend to. Goodbye."
With that, the line went dead.
Kawasaki slowly put the phone down, his expression dark.
Kameda and Itō Itsuki were both in the office, waiting for the result of Kawasaki's negotiation.
"Kawasaki-san, what did the Ed Gold Vault say?"
Itō Itsuki glanced at Kawasaki's face and already guessed the answer.
Kawasaki, seething with anger, snapped, "The Ed Gold Vault's management won't allow us entry. They refuse to cooperate with our operation."
What Kawasaki didn't know was that just five minutes before his call, Harrison had already phoned Albert.
Albert denied access to the Japanese agents, but he agreed to cooperate with Harrison.
The truth was, Albert trusted MI5 far more than the Japanese Embassy.
"Kawasaki-san, why not try contacting Harrison?"
Itō Itsuki's cold voice cut through.
"He's with MI5, and he should have the authority to enter the Ed Gold Vault."
As soon as he said that, Kameda's face fell.
He had no desire to work with Harrison, and even less to beg him.
But at this point, if they wanted access to the vault, their only hope was with Harrison.
"Kameda-san, please put the bigger picture first."
Kawasaki knew full well that Kameda didn't want to cooperate.
"If we can't get inside the Ed Gold Vault, Kaitō Kid will fall right into Harrison's hands."
"If the British side catches him first, we'll lose any leverage we have."
Kameda gave a low grunt but didn't argue.
He knew what was at stake with the Dragon Head.
So Kawasaki contacted Harrison.
"Hello, Director Harrison."
"Regarding Kaitō Kid's latest calling card, have you already reached out to the Ed Gold Vault?"
Harrison answered calmly.
"Of course."
"Mr. Kawasaki, is there something you want?"
The moment Harrison heard the question, he knew exactly what Kawasaki wanted.
Harrison had no patience for Kameda and the Japanese agents—they were all fools in his eyes.
But there was one person who had caught his interest.
The man he'd seen at the auction last night—Itō Itsuki.
"Director Harrison, the Ed Gold Vault refused to cooperate with us."
"Kaitō Kid is extremely cunning. We hope to work with you in this operation."
But Harrison rejected him outright.
And without any hesitation.
"Mr. Kawasaki, we don't need your help."
"Mr. Albert has already agreed to let us into the Ed Gold Vault to assist MI5's operation."
Kawasaki's lip twitched, but he swallowed his anger.
"Director Harrison, I hope you'll consider the bigger picture. Kaitō Kid's cunning means we'll need every advantage to succeed."
Harrison sneered.
Still, considering the diplomatic angle, he tossed them a bone.
"Mr. Kawasaki, Mr. Albert won't allow your people inside. I can't change that."
"At most, I can bring one of you in. That's the best I can do."
Kawasaki looked over at Kameda and Itō Itsuki.
Harrison's voice continued through the phone.
"The ninja from the auction last night—I believe he's got more skill than Kameda."
The choice was simple.
Either Itō Itsuki goes in with Harrison.
Or nothing.
