Chapter 21 - Chapter 19: Big Brother, Are You Making the Internet? (Rewrite Version)

Days passed peacefully for Noah and the girls during their stay in Fontaine. They spent their time leisurely, each choosing to relax or dive into their own interests. During this time, Noah focused on refining a new teleportation technique as since the girls had made it clear they did not like the feeling of being squeezed into a tight tube from the traditional Apparition travel.

He drew inspiration from a teleportation move used by a certain 'Yellow Flash' from an anime back in his home world.

Combining elements of Apparition, the Portus spell enchantment, and the Trailblaze Warp technique, Noah successfully created a smoother and more user-friendly teleportation method. This new system allowed anyone with a beacon and the correct password to travel instantly. No more uncomfortable squeezing sensations. The only catch was that users could only warp to pre-registered locations marked with a beacon, and they'd have to wait out a short cooldown before using it again.

-----

Using this new teleportation method, the girls would often go off on their own during their free time.

Lumine spent most of her time in Liyue, either treasure hunting or taking on odd commissions. She didn't think much of it until one day, she overheard a peculiar rumor. Apparently, if someone had a problem that seemed unsolvable, all they needed to do was pray really hard, and a blonde-haired girl would appear from the mountains to fix everything.

When Lumine first heard the rumor from a local merchant, her expression froze.

"Wait... what do you mean a blonde girl appears from the mountains?" Lumine asked, raising a brow at the merchant.

The merchant nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! They say if you pray hard enough, a golden-haired savior will descend from the cliffs and solve your troubles. It's become quite the story among the villagers."

Lumine's expression twitched. "That sounds... oddly specific."

"Oh, and she apparently glows as appears and a sword that shines like the sun! You wouldn't happen to know her, would you?" the merchant asked with an excited grin.

"...No comment," she muttered, turning away. "I was just helping people. How did I end up as a walking folktale..."

------

Because of the ever-growing rumors and strange 'moments' she had in every nation, Elysia mostly stayed in Mondstadt. She was often spotted basking under the sun near Windrise, enjoying lazy picnics with the locals or humming softly while feeding ducks by the lake.

One afternoon, a flower vendor waved to her from across the path. "Honorary Knight! Back again today?"

Elysia smiled warmly and waved back. "Of course~ The sunshine here is the softest in all of Teyvat."

Though in truth, she was just steering away from the colorful aliases she'd somehow earned, "Miss Pink Detective" in Fontaine, "Professor Pink Elf" in Sumeru, "The Divine Priestess" in Inazuma, and most notoriously, "The Legendary 'Dog' Owner" of Liyue.

"Ah~ This peaceful life is the reason why I love Mondstadt." she sighed one day while sipping apple cider, watching a bard recite poetry nearby.

A little girl beside her giggled. "Big Sis Elf, did you really talk to foxes and catch criminals in disguise?"

Elysia smiled gently. "Only on weekdays, darling. Only on weekdays~."

------

Meanwhile, Miss A was most often spotted around Inazuma. She spent her time exploring each island's hidden corners. Recently, she caught wind of rumors surrounding the mysterious 'Spiral Abyss'. Excited by the unknown, she began gathering information from the Adventurers' Guild.

One day she went to the Grand Narukami Shrine not to terrorize a certain pink fox or sneaking into the inner sanctum of Tenshukaku to tease a particular shut-in god, but to get the information about it.

Miss A caught Yae Miko in a surprise hug from behind.

"Gotcha, Miss Foxy! Thought you could escape me again?" she grinned, locking her arms with playful mischief.

Yae Miko's ears twitched as she sighed. "Must you always ambush people like that? You're like a bake tanuki with your teleportation."

"I take that as a compliment," Miss A winked. "Unfortunately there is no shrine rearranging today~ I'm here for something else!"

Yae raised her brows. ".....Should I be worried? Rather I'm panicking now."

"Oh relax~" Miss A leaned in closer, lowering her voice uncharacteristically serious. "I just want to know if you or Ei have any information about 'Spiral Abyss'."

Yae's expression turned grim. ".... just what are you planning to do there?."

Miss A giggled before smirking at Yae, "Hmm, nothing much.~ I plan to suggest that for our next stop."

Noah-dono you are in trouble after this!! Yae thought and prayed for the poor soul that Miss A is attached to.

Kiana mostly stayed in Fontaine, assisting Furina as a semi-guard. After the arrest of several nobles involved in framing the Melusine Carol, the nation found itself facing a power vacuum, leading to mild unrest. Of course, that wasn't the only reason she stayed there.

"I-it's not because of the cakes! I promise!!" She defends her intention one afternoon, cheeks puffed with cream as Furina stared at her in deadpan. "I'm just... making sure you're safe. Yep. That's all."

Furina sighed. "If you're going to sneak extra pastries, at least don't leave cream on the paperwork."

Outside her duties, Kiana often made short visits to Mondstadt to play with the children and share snacks with them or in Sumeru's rainforest to spend time with the Aranara. Occasionally, she'd team up with Lumine for treasure hunts though Kiana insisted it was purely for training.

"Training my survival skills! Not because it's fun!" she declared while clinging to a treasure chest.

Lumine simply look at her gently. "Sure, Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

As the current acting Grand Sage of the Akademiya, Noah spent most of his time in Sumeru, working closely with Buer to refine and modernize the institution's policies. Between reform sessions, he also took on the burden of assessing candidates for the next generation of sages—including the one who would eventually succeed him.

One morning in the House of Daena, Noah sat with a scroll in hand, brows slightly furrowed. "A virtual experiment environment using the Akasha Terminal?" he mused aloud, drawing the attention of nearby scholars, Buer and Nahida.

"Yes, Grand Sage. A proposal from all the six Darshans." the scholar, who serves as their assistant, informs them. as he pushes his glasses. "Now that the ability to dream has been returned to the people of Sumeru, they propose to create the dream environment as safer way to test dangerous experiments,"

Noah leaned back, tapping the scroll thoughtfully. "Interesting."

Hearing Noah's thoughtful musing, the scholar's eyes lit up with hopeful anticipation. Maybe this proposal truly had a chance.

"Big brother?" Nahida asked gently, tilting her head as she watched Noah lost in thought.

Noah smiled softly and reached out to pat her head. "Just thinking about some old tech from my world… VA, you've got access to the VR development archives from my homeworld, right?"

A golden cube appeared into view beside Noah.

[Affirmative. I have full records of virtual reality advancements from both the Asterisk and Honkai Impact worlds, including the most recent implementations before we left on those worlds.] VA responded promptly.

Buer raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You're considering integrating foreign technology into the Akasha?"

"Not all of it," Noah replied, tapping his fingers together. "But maybe just enough to elevate what's already here."

He turned his gaze toward the golden cube floating beside him.

"VA, can you upload the essentials into the Akasha System?" he asked, already running mental calculations.

[Negative. The current processing power and storage of the Akasha System cannot handle the full dataset,] VA replied. [Suggestion: prioritize and upload only the most compatible segments based on this world's technological parameters.]

Noah sighed. "So we're limited by both power and storage. Not unexpected, but still a bit of a letdown."

"Well, while the Gnosis handles most of the data processing, the Akasha System still depends on the user's mental capacity to process and manage information," Buer explained with a wry smile. "Given that, I don't think the current system can handle the scale of this proposal."

Nahida nodded slowly, tapping her chin. "There's also the matter of data storage. Our capacity is limited by how many Knowledge Capsules we can produce and setup."

Around them, the scholars who had been listening intently began to murmur. The energy in the room dimmed slightly, disappointment spreading as the technical hurdles became clear.

Noah tapped his fingers on the desk, his eyes never left from the scroll as he analyzed the possibilities.

Then, he stopped. A glint appeared in his eyes, something had clicked.

"Did you come up with something?" Buer asked, catching the change in his expression.

"Maybe," Noah replied with an amused look. "I need to verify a few things first."

That was all it took for the atmosphere to shift. Hope sprouted among everyone inside the room . Even Nahida leaned in, curiosity twinkling in her gaze.

"In my world, there was a story about a dragon named Yggdrasil," Noah started, ""Its ability called Code Zwo or the Akashic Record lets it gather and process information through its entire network made of plants. Imagine a biological supercomputer, with every tree, flower, and blade of grass acting as a node. As a result of this, Yggdrasil is nearly omniscient and cannot be destroyed unless all plant life in the world is wiped out, since it can merely transfer its consciousness to another plant."

it actually came from an anime.... but.. in a sense it is a story right?

Buer and Nahida both blinked. Then, in the same moment, realization struck. Their eyes widened as the implications finally clicked.

"...No way..." Buer murmured, eyes wide. "You're planning to use the rainforest... No, the entire plant life to solve the processing power issue?!"

Her realization shocked everyone in the room.

"'The Forest Remembers'..." Nahida murmured. "Events of the past and present… even if people forget, the forest still carries those memories. Theoretically, it's possible to create a connected network using the plant life of Sumeru. And it wouldn't even require much divine power."

Noah nodded firmly. "Luckily, Sumeru City has the largest tree in the region. It's the ideal place to set up the first 'server'."

The room fell silent, but a sense of excitement spread among the scholars. The blueprint for something far greater had just been born.

---------

".....After a series of sleepless nights and collaboration of all the Darshans… we actually pulled it off," Noah said with a proud smile. "Teyvat's very first virtual reality space."

Kiana blinked. "We just stepped out for a bit and you already made something insane?!"

"Seriously?!" Miss A leaned forward, dramatically gasping. "That's what happens when we leave you alone?!"

Elysia giggled. "Should we be impressed or worried~?"

Lumine sighed, shaking her head. "You really don't know how to rest, do you?"

Noah shrugged, while Buer and Nahida exchanged a sheepish glance smile. The four girls sighed as they watched the scholars move with enthusiasm, setting up the "server" under Void Archives' guidance.

Noah had provided materials from the Express, along with resources gathered from Sumeru and Fontaine. Meanwhile, Nahida and Buer ran experiment after experiment to test whether the rainforest's plant life could truly serve as a functioning processor and data storage.

To their shock it worked.

"It actually works," Buer had whispered, still in shock from the results after verifying it countless times. "It's revolutionary."

Nahida nodded, wonder can be seen in her expression. "Efficient, resilient, and able to store massive amounts of data… this will change what the Akasha System can become."

After finalizing the plan, Noah worked closely with the sages to design an interface that would act as the central hub connecting the Akasha System and the newly formed plant-based server network. Nahida, despite being a child, showed her incredible intelligence in integrating the system's complex structure balancing divine architecture with logic.

Meanwhile, Noah set up high-level administrator protocols and firewalls accessible only to himself, Buer, and Nahida. Not even the future Grand Sage or next generation of sages would be able to interfere. Buer, acting as the avatar of Irminsul, established a secure link from the world tree to their server, enabling smooth data transmission. For now, only she and Nahida had clearance to use that connection.

Kiana asks with curiosity written all over her face. "So... what exactly does this thing actually do?"

Noah, with his usual half-lidded look, replied, "Officially? It's a safe environment for handling dangerous experiments."

"Hmm?" Kiana raised an eyebrow. "And unofficially?"

"Ehehe~ What Big Brother meant is that originally, it was supposed to be just that," Nahida explained with a light giggle. "But now? I think they've kind of forgotten the original goal and just want to build something incredible."

Buer leaned from behind her, hugging her tightly. "If our plan works, we could eventually connect all nations into one unified network. Something like the 'internet' from Captain's world."

"Oooh~" the girls gasped in amazement.

"This is kind of amazing~" Elysia said as she continued snapping photos of the scholars who were still hard at work. "You're building something that could change this world forever."

"So, what are you calling it?" Miss A asked, looking curiously between Noah, Nahida, and Buer.

Both Nahida and Buer turned to Noah, smiling, giving him the honor.

"Inteyvat," Noah answered simply. "That's what we'll name it."

The girls' eyes lit up in surprise, especially Lumine, whose fingers brushed gently against the flower pin in her hair.

"Big Brother actually used your flower as the symbol for the network," Nahida said brightly.

Noah sighed and reached out to gently pinch her cheeks, earning giggles from the Archon.

The group turned to look at him grinning playfully, Lumine on the other hand had a shy, grateful smile. Noah tried to ignore their teasing expressions, though a faint flush betrayed him.

Just then, one of the scholars hurried over. "Grand Sage! Lord Dendro Archons! The final setup is complete. We're ready for the first test."

"Thank you for letting us know," Noah nodded.

He stepped toward the main console along with Buer and Nahida. As the three placed their hands atop the interface.

This was the last configuration. The final step before their vision became reality.

First was Buer, gentle green light flowed from her palm as she connected to Irminsul. "Using the ley lines as the base, they'll serve as the 'cables' for this network,".

Next was Nahida. Looking at the divine tree at the heart of Sumeru City, she closed her eyes and lifted her hand. "As Dendro Archon, I grant this tree the authority to act as the central server," she said. A soft glow surged through the roots as the tree responded to her command.

Then Noah's turn, Trailblaze energy danced across his fingertips as his palm placed on the main console. "I'll ensure the world accepts this," he said firmly. "This won't be like the forbidden knowledge. This is something that brings connection." As his energy flowed into the system, the ley lines of Sumeru are transforming, adapting, creating metaphysical paths for data flow.

"We'll now begin the activation sequence," Noah announced, turning to the scholars. "Record and monitor everything. Even the smallest things. Nothing is insignificant."

"Yes, sir!"

"We'll log everything down!"

Noah gave a short nod, eyes scanning the console. The real test was about to begin.

"...Captain, does look dazzling," Kiana murmured, feeling warm in her chest as she watched Noah issue instructions with confidence.

"Uhm, he really is quite something, isn't he?" Elysia added, adjusting her camera to capture the moment.

Lumine gave a small nod while Miss A grinned. They didn't say anything but their actions agreed to what Kiana and Elysia said.

"All ready, Grand Sage!"

"Systems are stable!"

"Server, console, and processors all synchronized!"

"Good!" Noah called out. Then he turned toward Buer and Nahida. "You two ready?"

"Yes," Nahida replied with a cheerful grin.

"Let's make this dream real," Buer added, nodding.

"Inteyvat network, activation begins in three."

Excitement buzzed across Sumeru. Scholars whispered in awe; some even held their breath.

"Two."

Noah adjusts his hand on the key. Buer and Nahida did the same, their eyes locked on the console.

"One. Inteyvat, start!"

With perfect timing, all three twisted their keys. A rush of light ran through the console that look like a green light blooming petals across.

Sumeru watched as history unfolded in real time.
