"No, it wasn't a random attack!" Zi Zhen said, rising to his feet but not releasing his hold on Wan Ruyi as her husband picked her up into his arms protectively. "They came for her and me. And they knew what they were doing." If they hadn't overpowered them, it was possible that they could have taken Lu Wan Ruyi away and come after him later on. Whichever way, nothing was good news.
Zhi Hao's expression hardened. "We need to find out who sent them as soon as possible."
Lu Ting Cheng nodded grimly, stepping closer, his voice low. "I will get the security feeds. If they came in through the south wing, we might still have facial recognition data." He turned to one of the black-clad operatives. "Sweep all the perimeters once again. Don't assume they have all been neutralized."
The operative gave a sharp nod and disappeared into the smoke and shadow.
Lu Wan Ruyi stirred weakly in Zhi Hao's arms who protectively held her in his arms before trudging back to the hall, and the hall lights suddenly turned on.
When he walked into the hall, everyone was surprised, and others already heard something happen along the hallway.
But surprisingly, two people were missing, Song Yaya and Lu Ting Zhou. He had left his son in the hall and rushed over to the corridor, but now he was missing?
Gasps rippled through the hall as Zhi Hao appeared with Lu Wan Ruyi in his arms, blood smeared across her temple, her pale face barely conscious. But amid the chaos, a colder realization gripped the room, Lu Ting Zhou was gone. Nowhere to be found.
"Where's my son?" Zhi Hao's voice rang out, halting every whisper as heads turned from side to side with confusion and searching for the boy. The lights had gone off even in the hall, and no one could notice someone had gone missing with all that darkness.
Heads turned, confusion thick in the air. But it was Gabriel who suddenly staggered forward, his suit disheveled, fury burning in his amber eyes. The moment the lights came back on, he searched frantically for Song Yaya in the bathroom as he had felt dizzy and momentarily lost consciousness, but she was nowhere to be found; she, too, had vanished.
"Where is she?" he snapped, glaring at Lu Zi Zhen and then Lu Wan Ruyi, who was now being tended to by emergency medics. "Where is Yaya? Did you take her away? Where is she?" This must have been their work! They must have taken her away.
Lu Zi Zhen turned slowly, her eyes cold and sneering. " Weren't you with her in the bathroom? Search for her somewhere else!" Lu Zi Zhen was annoyed and in a terrible mood at them moment. Apart from his mother, he didn't care about anything else.
"It must be you two! Where is she? You must have taken her away! She didn't do anything wrong! She just wants to get closer to her kids! How could you do this to her?" Gabriel was mortified and horrified by the ruthlessness of Lu Wan Ruyi and Lu Zi Zhen. They must be wanting to silence her completely.
"What do you think you are doing?" Lu Ting Cheng roughly pushed him away from his family. His mother was hurt and here someone wanting to blame her for something she hadn't done.
Gabriel stumbled back from the force of Lu Ting Cheng's shove, but the fire in his eyes only flared hotter.
"She was with me! She was with me right before the lights went out, and now she's gone! Someone planned this—someone used the chaos to take her! How can a human just vanish?" he shouted, his voice cracking with desperation.
