Chapter 68 - Infiltrating the Heavy Cell

Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop…

A chain of explosions rang out across the training field. The sudden detonations of Ripple-infused bubbles caught everyone's attention, drawing all eyes toward the source.

And right then—

From the woods nearby, Uchiha Shisui burst out, hair tousled, clothes dusted in ash, caught off-guard by the sudden wave of concussive force.

There was no trace of chakra in those bubbles. Not a flicker—not even his Sharingan could detect any chakra signatures. Yet the impact?

Devastating.

Utterly unexplainable.

He turned sharply toward the source.

Ishiki Kujo was already jogging toward him, apologetic expression painted across his face.

"Sorry! Sorry, Shisui—I didn't realize you were nearby!" Ishiki called out, flashing a sheepish grin.

The clone and the turtle had both vanished. Ishiki's tone was genuine, his posture relaxed, his expression full of innocence.

Shisui brushed off his robes. "No worries. I was just passing by." He gave Ishiki a casual wave and a warm smile. "That a new ninjutsu you're working on? Not bad. The destructive power's not high, but for harassment or disruption, it's clever."

"Really? I was just messing around," Ishiki chuckled, flashing his usual boyish glow. "It's been a while—got time for lunch, Captain?"

Shisui hesitated. Technically, he was supposed to be monitoring Ishiki, but if they stuck together, it wouldn't interfere with the mission.

He nodded. "Sure. Mirina came back to the village with you, didn't she? Not sure if Aoba's still out on assignment, but we should gather the old squad. Would be nice."

"Great. I'll go grab Mirina." Right in front of Shisui, Ishiki performed the Shadow Clone Jutsu. "I'll leave Aoba to you, Captain."

"Got it." Shisui raised two fingers to his mouth and let out a sharp whistle. A messenger crow took flight, soaring into the sky.

The two of them strolled toward the nearest yakiniku joint, chatting casually.

A short while later, Mirina and Aoba arrived.

Meanwhile, the Ishiki at the hospital was just a clone.

"You little slacker," Mirina teased, plopping down beside him. "Still ditching work like always, huh?"

"I don't have any surgeries this afternoon," Ishiki shrugged. "Rounds are simple. A clone can handle it."

"Aoba, I thought you'd already left the village," Ishiki said between bites. "Haven't seen you since I got back."

"Don't even get me started," Aoba groaned. "Captain Junji's been trying to make up for all the missions we missed while he was out injured. I've been buried in assignments. If it weren't for Shisui's crow, I'd be on another one right now."

He poured himself a big glass of iced cola, took a long swig, and let out a satisfied burp before flopping against the seat.

"You've got it easy, man. I wish I had healing talent. I'd totally work under you."

"I'm busy, too, y'know," Ishiki mumbled, mock-pouting.

The waiter brought over a huge tray of grilled meat.

Shisui stood and smiled. "Today's on me. It's been too long—no need for formalities. Eat up."

"Long live Captain!" Mirina cheered, her energy bright as ever.

Ishiki and Aoba gave their classic thumbs-up in unison.

For a moment, it felt just like old times—back when they'd first been assigned together, celebrating that first mission.

None of them realized the Ishiki at the table wasn't real.

During the moment Shisui had been distracted by the bubble blast, Ishiki had swapped places with a clone.

The real Ishiki?

He was outside the village.

From a storage scroll, he pulled out a massive Tensō no Jutsu capsule—his long-range teleport device. The coordinates were already set.

One of his clones had been standing by for this moment.

As Ishiki entered Yang Release Ripple Mode, the clone activated the jutsu.

Flash.

Ishiki vanished—reappearing just outside Konoha's Heavy Cell.

He quickly scanned the area—no one in sight.

Good.

He created another shadow clone on the spot.

He now had four clones running simultaneously:

One spreading misinformation outside the village.

One positioned to summon The President.

One eating with Shisui and friends.

One at the hospital.

That's not including the clone he just made.

A matryoshka doll of chakra and deception.

And yet he didn't feel exhausted. His chakra pool was immense.

Sure, each clone took half of his chakra, but Ishiki's reserves had long outgrown the average ninja's. He couldn't pull off a thousand clones like Naruto, but four to five clones with staggered timing? Easy.

His chakra had time to replenish between uses. Only the most recent clones had drawn heavily from his reserves.

Still, he couldn't help but wish he'd learned the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Same hand signs, but a totally different principle. Without understanding the precise mechanics behind it, he could never replicate the jutsu correctly.

So he had to stick to the old-fashioned way—one clone at a time.

Bringing his thoughts back into focus, Ishiki reached into his pouch and inserted the Byakugan Disc into the clone's head.

The clone's eyes pulsed white. Byakugan activated.

Meanwhile, Ishiki himself deactivated Yang Release mode and activated his Sharingan. Using Ripple and a chakra-sensing water orb, he began scanning for life signs.

Everything was ready.

It was time for infiltration.

To breach the Heavy Cell, the key was bypassing the barrier seals placed by the Barrier Corps.

If not for those, Ishiki would've just teleported straight inside.

But stealth was critical.

Sage Mode was his best bet. Once his eyes picked up the seal array, he approached the barrier's edge and gently placed his hand against it.

He combined chakra sealing techniques, Ripple energy, and senjutsu chakra to erode the edge of the barrier—while prepping an escape plan in case it triggered an alarm.

The result?

A silent rupture.

A massive tear opened in the barrier. The sealing technique suppressed and swallowed the residual chakra leak.

He listened carefully. Nothing.

The Byakugan detected no movement from inside.

Perfect.

One step forward, and he slipped into the prison.

With the Byakugan's X-ray vision, Ishiki ghosted through the corridors like a specter.

He didn't stay long—less than three minutes later, he exited the facility and vanished once more via The President.

And behind him…

A riot was already starting to stir.
