Chapter 54: Supernova
A deafening roar erupted from within the rubble. An immense wave of killing intent exploded outward, reducing the debris to dust with sheer pressure. From the center of the crater, Cooler rose again, his body surrounded by a turbulent aura.
"Damn Saiyan monkey!" he snarled through gritted teeth, his eyes burning with humiliation and fury. It had been decades since anyone made him feel this level of disgrace not since the fall of Planet Vegeta, when his brother acted out of fear rather than strength.
With a snarl, Cooler dashed at Li Xu, leaving a shockwave in his wake. His speed rivaled his brother's at 100% Full Power form used on Namek.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Blow after blow rained down on Li Xu, but none made contact. Like Goku during his first Super Saiyan battle with Frieza, Li Xu shifted effortlessly, tilting his body just enough to dodge every strike. It wasn't raw speed it was mastery of movement.
Boom!
Suddenly, Cooler's body lurched forward. Li Xu's fist was buried in his abdomen. The force sent a ripple across the ground, causing nearby cliffs to tremble.
"Stay down!" Li Xu barked.
He followed up with a swift whip kick, his leg wrapped in golden ki. The blow struck Cooler's head, sending him plummeting like a comet.
Bang!
The ground erupted like a cratered moon surface. Deep cracks spider-webbed outward, and a seismic pulse rocked the planet. Even Dora's tectonic plates groaned under the weight of the impact.
Shhhhhh!
But Li Xu didn't let up. He raised his arms, each hand glowing with bright blue-white energy spheres.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Dozens of qigong bombs rained down like meteors, engulfing the battlefield in flame. The crater was reduced to molten rock as clouds of smoke spiraled skyward. Cooler's energy signature flickered beneath the blasts.
As the smoke dissipated, a battered figure stood. His body was scorched, exoskeletal armor cracked, and blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. Still, he endured.
Li Xu landed gently and said calmly, "Cooler, I know you're hiding your final form. Go ahead and transform."
He could have ended it already his ki output in this form exceeded Frieza's final form during the Namek battle but his Saiyan instincts burned for challenge. Ever since acquiring his Super Saiyan transformation, he had thirsted for worthy opponents.
"You'll regret mocking me!" Cooler growled, trembling with rage. He hadn't even revealed his Fifth Form, a mutation beyond his brother's capabilities. The fact that Li Xu knew of it infuriated him.
"RAAH!"
His power surged violently. The ground beneath his feet shattered into levitating debris, suspended in midair by pure force. Energy crackled around his body, distorting gravity in a growing radius.
His form began to mutate.
His body enlarged, bulking with new muscle fibers. Four additional horned protrusions extended from his head like a war helm. His eyes turned crimson, pupils vanishing. A bony armored "mask" formed over his mouth, and jagged, sword-like protrusions extended from his forearms. His shoulders widened, and two blade-like horns erupted from his back.
This was Cooler's Fifth Transformation, far beyond the level Frieza displayed on Namek.
His battle power exploded to 470 million, dwarfing his previous form by orders of magnitude. Even Goku's Super Saiyan form, which had rivaled Frieza at 120 million, seemed distant in comparison.
Li Xu's expression didn't falter. A subtle smile curled at the corner of his lips. The Saiyan bloodline within him stirred. This was what he craved.
"Finally, something interesting," he said, golden lightning arcing off his aura. His hair gleamed like molten gold, and his eyes locked onto Cooler's.
"You lowly ape… This time, I'll break your bones one by one!" Cooler sneered, arrogance restored by his monstrous power.
"Then stop talking fight!"
Bang!
Li Xu launched forward, golden aura exploding behind him. Cooler met him head-on, and the sky itself seemed to implode. Their fists collided, forming expanding shockwaves that warped the horizon and sent sound barriers crumbling.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The two figures flashed across the sky like thunderbolts, clashing again and again. With every collision, circular shockwaves rippled outward, slicing through clouds and sending atmospheric rings outward like the tremors of gods.
The sheer pressure blew away Cooler's troops like dry leaves. Several elite soldiers some trained under the Ginyu Force regimen were torn apart by the intensity, their scouters exploding from overload.
The battlefield had become a cosmic storm.
This kind of fierce clash was just the aftermath, but even that released a shockwave so violent that anyone with a power level under 10,000 was instantly blown away or worse turned to dust. The sheer force of battle between two titans like them was not something ordinary warriors could survive.
"Now this... this is what I call fun!"
Li Xu shouted excitedly, his Saiyan battle-lust flaring up. His cells felt like they were combusting with power, and his blood was boiling with excitement. The Saiyan instinct for combat surged wildly within him, heightening all his senses.
"You damned Saiyan monkey, I'll rip you apart!"
Cooler snarled. Despite utilizing his Final Form a transformation beyond his brother Frieza's known capabilities he was still unable to subdue Li Xu, who fought with a ferocity and precision Cooler hadn't seen since his encounter with Super Saiyan Goku on Namek.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Their fists, elbows, and knees collided like meteorites, lighting the battlefield with flashes of energy. It was as if two blazing auras golden and violet were crashing endlessly in a sky shrouded with ruptured clouds and sonic booms.
Boom!
Li Xu's punch landed cleanly in Cooler's abdomen, causing the tyrant to cough up bile, his breathing erratic. But Cooler retaliated swiftly, driving a brutal knee into Li Xu's ribs, forcing him to grit his teeth.
Wincing but undeterred, Li Xu seized Cooler's thick, armored tail just like Goku once did to Frieza and whirled him around several times before hurling him into a mountain range.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Cooler smashed through multiple rock formations before finally regaining control, his purple aura flaring furiously.
"Curse you...!"
Hovering in midair, Cooler raised one clawed hand. A small dark-purple orb began to form in his palm, quickly expanding as it crackled with explosive ki.
"This planet dies with you! Witness my Supernova!"
The deadly technique a miniature star of death began to grow in size. Cooler's twisted grin reappeared. "Even if it misses you, Dora will be obliterated. And you Saiyans can't survive in the vacuum of space."
His plan was clear: either Li Xu took the hit and died, or he escaped and was vaporized in space. A cruel, calculated tactic reminiscent of Frieza's attack on Namek.
Seeing the blindingly bright sphere descending like a god's wrath, Li Xu narrowed his eyes. His expression became solemn. With a powerful stomp, he braced himself, both feet carving deep trenches in the earth.
"RAAAHHHH!"
With both palms raised, Li Xu caught the Supernova head-on. The immense pressure pressed down on him, his boots skidding backward, tearing into the crust. Sparks flew around him as the planet trembled.
"Get... back!"
Drawing upon the Law of Force, a divine principle he'd mastered after the events on New Namek, Li Xu's power skyrocketed. His muscles bulged, golden aura erupting, and his Super Saiyan power surged beyond its previous limit.
Boom!
With a mighty roar, he reversed the momentum of the Supernova. It shot back toward Cooler only now, it was moving at double the speed.
"What!? Not Impossible!"
Cooler's blood-red eyes widened. His greatest technique reflected! The shock on his face was one of utter disbelief.
"Noooo!"
He tried to repel it, but his energy reserves were drained. The Supernova swallowed him whole, dragging his screaming figure into the blackness of space before detonating in a brilliant superflare.
A moment later, silence.
"Sigh... In the end, I still had to use the Law of Force," Li Xu said, shaking his head with mild regret.
Currently, his base combat power was around 8 million, and his Super Saiyan transformation multiplied by 50 brought him to 400 million. That was just under Cooler's Final Form, which was estimated around 470 million. But Li Xu's advanced ki control, combined with his mastery over the Law of Force, gave him an edge.
While it wasn't easy to kill someone like Cooler, reflecting the Supernova proved effective.
"Buzz!"
A small pop echoed, and Bulma returned to normal size, fluttering down from where she had been safely observing inside a miniature hover capsule.
"Honey, you did it again!" she exclaimed joyfully. No matter how strong the enemies were, Li Xu always found a way to defeat them.
"Then... how about my reward?"
Li Xu grinned, his previous exhaustion vanishing as he eyed her mischievously.
"H-Honey, it's still daylight!" Bulma blushed, flustered.
"Then we'll make it last till evening," he teased with a smirk.
With a flick of his wrist, he threw an all-purpose capsule. Poof! A luxurious capsule home appeared. Carrying Bulma in his arms, he stepped inside.
Soon, the sounds of laughter and passion echoed from within, continuing deep into the golden sunset.
