"What!" I exclaimed over the phone as the call ended.
"Son, what's it?" Mum's wavering voice surged as she held onto Sonia's arms.
"Mum, just got a call that those involved had been caught…" I trailed off as Mum stood up.
"Then I'm going to see whoever they are. They'll tell me what I ever did to deserve this, hurting my child like this." she pressed, and I turned to look at her.
"Mum," I called out, handing her her phone with which the call had come in.
"I'm going with you," she said instead, then sobbed as she dropped into my arms.
A sharp tear ran over my chest at the instant. I've never known who Sonia was, nor do I still believe I had a half-sister yet, but seeing Mum in such a broken state only stirred up the bitter rage in my heart.
