Chapter 84 - Qiaoqiao, Godfather Came Late

In the interrogation room, Deputy Director Zhang sat across from Li Qiao, putting on airs as he flipped through the file in his hands. He smiled with obvious malice. "Young lady, you've got quite the temper for someone your age. Do you have any idea who I am?"

Li Qiao absentmindedly played with her nails and replied without looking up, "Does it matter who you are?"

Zhang's expression instantly darkened. He'd been handling cases for years and had dealt with all sorts of tough characters. If not for her looks, he would've ordered someone to force a confession out of her already.

"Heh, you've got guts. Still acting tough in a police station? Aren't you afraid that I—"

Before he could finish his threat, the interrogation room door was suddenly flung open with force from the outside.

Startled, Zhang jerked in his seat and barked without looking, "Who is it? Don't you know how to knock?!"

Before the words fully left his mouth, two backlit figures strode in swiftly and commandingly.

Zhang squinted toward the door—and immediately drew in a sharp breath. "Old Fei? Why… are you back?"

Fei Zhihong stormed in, snatched the file from his hands, and gritted his teeth. "If I hadn't come back, would you still be throwing your weight around like you own the place?"

Zhang forced a smile. "Don't say that, Old Fei. I had my reasons for handling it this way…"

"Zhang Leshan," Fei said with a sneer, slapping the file against Zhang's shoulder with a mix of ridicule and pity, "you're on your own now, good luck."

Then his tone softened slightly as he turned to Li Qiao, leaning down with an apologetic expression. "Qiaoqiao, are you okay? Godfather came too late. I'm sorry you had to go through this."

Liuyun: "?"

Deputy Director Zhang Leshan: "???"

Li Qiao lazily lifted her eyes and looked at Fei Zhihong. Her lips twitched slightly. "You were a bit late. I almost thought you'd retired."

Fei supported her shoulder, pulling her up from the interrogation chair and casually wrapping an arm around her as he led her out.

At the door, he turned back to the pale-faced Zhang Leshan. "Zhang Leshan, I'll leave it to you to explain to Mr. Yun of Yanhua Group why you detained our Li Qiao."

Zhang's knees buckled, and he barely managed to steady himself by clutching the interrogation table. Wait… what did he just hear?

Yanhua? Mr. Yun?

Could it be… that "Mr. Yun" from the legendary four: Wind, Moon, Cloud, Rain?

Zhang had never feared anything in his life. With powerful backers behind him, bullying the weak and flattering the strong had long become second nature.

Now, looking at the intimidating aura of Liuyun, he panicked and quickly fished out his phone—hoping for a lifeline.

"Qiu Shao, I'm done for because of you!"

Back at the office, Qiu Huan frowned in confusion as he glanced at the caller ID. "Deputy Zhang? What do you mean by that?"

Then Zhang Leshan spilled everything—his speculations, actions, and assumptions. Qiu Huan was stunned.

When the hell did I ever tell him to go after Li Qiao?

"Qiu Shao, you have to help me. I did this for you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have messed with someone tied to Yanhua's Mr. Yun!"

Truthfully, Zhang Leshan was just a fool—ambitious with no real cunning, always thinking he could control the game.

But now, right in front of Liuyun, he'd basically dug Qiu Huan's grave and shattered his own career.

A few minutes later, Li Qiao sat comfortably in the director's office, casting a sidelong glance at Fei Zhihong. "Today's events… do me a favor and keep them quiet, Godfather."

Fei Zhihong sat behind his desk, scanning her from head to toe to make sure she was unharmed. Only then did he press, "I can keep it quiet, no problem. But tell me—what exactly is going on?"

"It's a long story," Li Qiao replied as she looked out toward the door. "I'll tell you when I get the chance. By the way, why did Liuyun come with you?"
