Chapter 44

Astrid's POV

The hot water had done wonders. It had soothed my aching muscles and helped to clear my head. I stepped out of the shower, feeling like a new person. I grabbed a soft towel and dried myself off, then walked into the bedroom, ready to face the day.

I found Rebecca waiting for me, a warm smile on her face. She was sitting on the bed, looking relaxed and comfortable.

"Ready for that tour?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

I nodded, feeling a surge of anticipation. I was eager to see the Emerald Glade pack, to meet the people who lived here, to start a new life. And with how Kaeleen had described it when we were in Moonshade pack, I was curious. Was his pack as beautiful as he made it seem?

"Let's do it," I said, my voice filled with enthusiasm.

"But…I need a change of clothes." I said to her.

"Oh, I'm sure we have something here." Rebecca said as she gave me a bag.

Inside was a pair of clothes. Just some ripped jeans and a crop top. It was comfortable and it fitted me perfectly well.

"How did you get my accurate size?" I asked her.

Rebecca chuckled. "That was all Kaeleen."

She observed me but didn't say anything. Instead, she linked her arms through mine.

"Let's begin that tour right? There is so much for you to see. But first, I'll show you around this place," she said, gesturing around the room. "This is where you'll be living, after all."

I looked around, taking in the details of the room. It was large and luxurious, with a comfortable bed, a cozy fireplace, and a stunning view of the pack grounds. It was far nicer than anything I had ever had before.

"This is amazing," I said, my voice filled with awe.

Rebecca laughed. "Just wait," she said. "There's so much more to see."

She led me out of the bedroom and into the main part of the building. As we walked, she explained that this was the Alpha's home, the place where Kaeleen and his family lived.

"And now it's your home too," she said, squeezing my arm. "You're with Kaeleen now, which means you're part of the family."

"We…I'm not together with him." I said to her.

"Yet." She said to me with a smile on her face.

"But I'm not family yet either. I can't live here."I argued.

Rebecca gave me a funny look. "Everyone has been anticipating your arrival. Everyone already considers you family. And regarding you not living here, I'm not sure my brother would like that. He'd gone out of his way to ensure this place would be comfortable for you so humour him okay? Even if it's just for a few days."

I gave her a nod. But my brain was travelling a mile per minute. Why would they consider me family? They didn't even know me. They've never met me so why? I mean the only people that knew me were Kaeleen and those who had gone to the Moonshade pack but the others…no. They had never met me but he spoke like they already knew me.

I shook my head choosing not to dwell on it. At least not yet. I was very much curious about the Emerald glade pack right now. And I meant the buildings.

We continued our tour, exploring every nook and cranny of the building. I was amazed by the opulence and luxury of it all.

First, she showed me the massive swimming pool, heated to a perfect temperature. The water shimmered invitingly, and maybe if this was a few years ago, when I was still a child I would have jumped at the opportunity to swim but now, after what had happened with Clara, I stayed clear of water bodies.

"Kaeleen loves to swim," Rebecca said, noticing my gaze. "You'll have to join him sometime." She said with a wink.

I chuckled lightly. "Maybe but I do t really like swimming."

She frowned. "Why?"

I shrugged like I wasn't affected by it. "Childhood trauma."

She nodded in understanding and continued with the tour. Next, she showed me the private gym, filled with state-of-the-art equipment. There were treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines, and everything else you could possibly need to stay in shape.

"We have a main gym for the pack, but this one is just for the alpha," Rebecca explained. "It's nice to have a place to work out in private."

I stared in awe. A private gym? What the hell? How rich was the Emerald Glade Pack that they could afford something like this? The Moonshade pack didn't have anything like this. I mean, they had a gym but nothing like this.

"Holy shit!"

"Baby girl, we are just starting and you are this awed? What are you going to do when you see the rest?" She asked me.

"Now I understand why Kaeleen complained about the Moonshade pack. The shower in this place alone was his room in the Moonshade pack." I said to her.

"Not to brag…"

"Really?" I asked her as I gestured towards the building we were currently in.

"Okay, I'm bragging. The Moonshade pack fell short of expectations. I expected more especially from how we've heard news that its the most influential pack." She said to me.

"We may want to rethink that position." I muttered under my breath.

She showed me the dining room. It was huge, with a long table that could seat dozens of people. The walls were lined with beautiful artwork some I noticed were from Yvonne. I mean, 'the Yvonne', and the ceiling was adorned with a massive chandelier.

"We use this for big dinners with the pack," Rebecca said. "But most of the time, we don't use it. It's too small."

I stared at her, my eyes widening in disbelief. Too small? This dinning room was competing with the hall at the Moonshade pack and she said it's too small.

"You're kidding, right?" I asked.

Rebecca laughed. "Nope," she said. "We use a huge hall or just host gatherings in the field if most pack members are available."
