A short while later, a firm knock sounded at the door to Gareth's study, marked with a hint of urgency.
"Father, it's me. Ronald." A deep voice came through.
Moments later, the servant opened the door.
In stepped a tall man with calm features, ash-grey eyes, and reddish-brown hair. A quiet nobility emanated from him, impossible to conceal.
As soon as he met Gareth's gaze, he bowed respectfully.
"You're here, Ronald," Gareth said, then signaled for someone to hand his son a letter.
Ronald was visibly puzzled. His eyes quickly caught the Ravenshire seal stamped on the envelope.
A flicker of wariness crossed his features. He knew well enough that no correspondence from Ravenshire ever arrived without consequence.
