We currently had 3 Great Crystals in our possession. We were making our way through an abandoned city in Swasstick, everywhere was burning and we could hear the activation of spells in the distance. We had heard of the civil war happening between Queen Melody and the terrorist group called "The Black Flames" but we hadn't expected anything this bad. I could stop this yet it wouldn't be permanent as the people would just start rebelling as we left the kingdom. I also didn't want to get involved, this wasn't our war. It was theirs. As we we're approaching the capital I saw an old man, lying on the floor. He had a white lab coat and a long white beard. He was a human, which was weird, taking in the fact that Swasstick was the kingdom of hybrids. I wouldn't have expected to see a pure blood over in this kingdom. We made our way to the man, helping him up. Nora spoke up, her voice soft.
"Are you okay, sir?" Nora asked as she checked him for any signs of injury. The man slowly got up, groaning as he did.
"I'm fine, thank you." The old man said.
"Do you have any shelter?" I asked while looking him up and down, noticing his old and thin body. The old man looked up at me as he was about to reply to me yet his eyes widened and he stuttered when he recognized who I was.
"M-Michael Forte! Hero! You're here..." He said, getting slightly excited.
"Me and my partner, Nora, were just making our way through the kingdom. We needed to get the Great Crystal of Swasstick but I suppose it isn't the best time." I said in response. The old man stroked his beard as he thought.
"I work with the queen, Melody. Come with me, hero. You should talk with her directly." The man said as he led us to a secret underground bunker. We entered with him, soldiers were all around and some whispering among themselves as we made our way through the bunker.
"Doctor Eso! You're back!" A middle aged man approached us. The old man, Eso, nodded as he spoke.
"Thankfully the hero, Michael, helped me." Doctor Eso said. The mans eyes widened.
"Hero! I'm glad to meet you. My name is Billy, right hand of Queen Mano and general in charge of the army." General Billy said while reaching out towards me. I shook his hand.
"My pleasure, may we speak to the queen? It's an urgent matter." I asked. General Billy nodded.
"Yes, right this way sir." He said as he led us to the queen who was inside a room, planning some things to help her side in the war.
"My queen, the hero came and want's to speak to you." Billy said. Queen Melody got up and approached us immediately.
"Michael, long time no see. You've grown." She said, a soft smile on her face. Her pink hair and dragon scales on her neck stood out. She had elf ears too as she was half elf half dragon and was ruling the kingdom for around 280 years.
"And you've gotten younger." I said, making her blush. Nora pouted slightly, jealous that I wouldn't compliment her like that.
"You always work your charm one way or another dear." Melody said, her expression then turned a bit dark.
"I'm sorry but I should get back to work. We're in danger." Mano carried on. I then spoke up.
"I wouldn't want to interfere but I was wondering if I could have the Great Crystal of your kingdom for a mission?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, I heard about that. You're public enemy number one but I trust you after all the times you saved us." Melody said.
"So could I have it?" I asked.
"I'd love to give it to you Michael but the crystal is in the castle and it is in the hands of the terrorists. But I'll make you a deal. If you can help me once more I'll give it to you, please help us." Melody pleaded. I gave a soft nod.
"I'll help you once more, Melody." I said softly. Melody then hugged me, happy that I was now on her side once more.
"Thank you Michael, you're our hero and the kingdom of Swasstick is once again in your hands." Melody mumbled as she tightened her embrace, a soft smile on her lips. Nora then cut in.
"Get a room, weirdos."
