Rain's Narration
"God, you stink."
One of them scrunched his nose like he wasn't just as bad. I almost laughed. The audacity. I mean — yeah, I probably smelled like death rolled in shit after being locked in a pit for a month and six damn days, but what the hell was their excuse? They looked like something the earth coughed up and immediately regretted. Mud-caked, greasy, teeth so yellow it was a miracle they didn't glow in the dark. Only a handful of them looked remotely human.
"Move!" another one barked, shoving me hard.
I stumbled. My legs felt like wet paper. I barely caught myself before hitting the ground. Weak. Starved. Filthy. But stubbornness alone kept me upright.
They dragged me toward Kai's tent. That smug bastard's little kingdom. Inside, Kai, Elias, and a bunch of wrinkled old men I guessed were their so-called Elders waited, their expressions sour as soon as i stepped in.
