Chapter 72 - Flames Soaring to the Sky

Villains are a peculiar breed. Whenever they believe they hold an absolute advantage and victory is within their grasp, they inevitably switch into mentor mode. They dissect your failures, boast about their successes, and strive to make you accept your defeat with clarity and conviction.

And now, Raiden is experiencing exactly that...

After passing through the village, Raiden headed north.

After driving for more than two hours, he arrived at a heavily guarded area.

The surrounding guards stopped Raiden vehicle. After cross-referencing his photo and confirming his identity, they led him to the entrance of a cave.

Oh, Raiden didn't need to guess—he knew the bald man would be here. After all, the cave looked all too familiar, identical to the one from before, even down to the placement of weapons outside.

Raiden glanced at the surroundings, a cold smirk forming on his face. He truly hadn't expected the bald man to be so nostalgic...

"Welcome home" the bald man emerged from the dark cave, spreading his arms warmly.

Raiden nodded at him, furrowing his brows as he glanced to the side.

"You've gotten even more handsome than before."

Hearing Raiden response, the bald man stiffened, touching the burn scars on his face. He let out a mocking laugh.

"I didn't think you'd actually dare to come."

Raiden turned to face him, a look of confusion on his face.

"Why wouldn't I dare? Haven't you already packaged your life as a gift, ready to hand it over to me?"

The bald man shook his head, a derisive smile on his face.

"Seems like you've got something else up your sleeve?" Raiden raised an eyebrow, tilting his head.

"The world is vast, isn't it? Do you naively believe your power is unique? How laughable" the bald man sneered, his confidence so overwhelming that it stirred something deep within Raiden.

A blazing fireball materialized out of thin air, hurtling toward the bald man.

But interestingly, as the fireball approached, a blue barrier emanated from the bald man body, blocking the flames.

"Interesting" Raiden muttered to himself.

"You've seen too little. Why don't we cooperate? Hand over your power to me, and I'll share the authority with you!" the bald man said, his eyes wild with madness.

"Oh, come on, buddy. Teaming up with you would drag down the average looks, don't you know?" Raiden waved his hand, mocking him.

The bald man expression darkened, his anger flaring.

"I gave you a chance. Magic? Superpowers? This world isn't lacking in those. But you, Raiden Akatosh! You'll be lacking the chance to survive!"

"Oh alright, you'll kill me. Sure, I believe you. You can definitely kill me," Raiden teased.

"But you sure do talk a lot, don't you? Don't worry, though. I won't do the same to you later. I'll make it quick."

After saying this, Raiden face showed a hint of hesitation, and he quickly added. "Maybe?"

Seeing Raiden completely disregard him, the bald man patience finally wore thin. He waved his hand to the surroundings, then turned and walked back into the cave.

"Hey! What do you mean by waving your hand? Saying goodbye to me?" Raiden quickly chased after him, taking two steps forward.

As soon as the words left his mouth, a beam of light struck the ground in front of Raiden, instantly blasting a deep crater.

The bald man looked at the crater in front of him, nodded thoughtfully, and murmured softly.

"We'll meet again soon, very soon."

Raiden raised his head and watched the bald man figure gradually disappear into the darkness.

The bald man voice echoed from the cave.

"Kill him, alive... or dead, it doesn't seem to affect the dissection."

"Oh, dissection, what a great idea!" Raiden looked around, seeing members of the Ten Rings Gang surrounding him on all sides, each holding oddly shaped weapons.

"Uh, hi?"

Raiden greeted them friendly, and immediately, countless energy beams shot toward him.

...

Ten kilometers away from the cave, Delan the bearded man, was leading his team, rushing toward the cave without stopping.

"Damn, that guy runs really fast" Delan said, stroking his thick beard. To keep up with the two tanks behind them, the convoy had been maintaining a speed of about fifty kilometers per hour.

"Boss, is it really okay to bring people and carry Michelle to rescue him? What if we don't succeed? Will we get killed?" the young man driving asked.

Delan spat at the kid and said.

"You brat, the answer to this question isn't whether we can rescue him or not. Whether we succeed or not, the Ten Rings Gang can't exist. As long as the Ten Rings Gang is gone..." Delan picked up a water bottle beside him and took a sip.

"Oh!" the man exclaimed as if he had just realized something, then slapped his head with one hand. Clearly, he hadn't mastered the art of driving with one hand, and the car swerved sharply.

Delan smacked the back of the man's head and said.

"Drive properly, you brat."

"Okay okay, boss" the man said, lifting his head to continue driving, but his expression turned somewhat bewildered.

"Boss, boss!" the man suddenly called out urgently.

"I'm not dead yet! What is it?" Delan snapped.

"Look at that!" the man pointed ahead.

Delan looked up, and in their line of sight, on the endless desert ahead, a pillar of fire shot into the sky, dyeing the entire sky red.

"What the hell is that?" Delan leaned out of the jeep, exclaiming in astonishment.

"Pa!"

Suddenly, a hand slapped Delan head. From a car passing by, an Asian man leaned out smiling at Delan and waving his hand, as if telling him who had done it.

"Wu, what are you doing?" Delan roared.

Wu shrugged, retracting his body into the car, his voice coming from inside.

"Can't you move any faster, you damn fuck? If we don't rescue that guy and make such a big scene, our blood will be redder than that sky!"

Delan shook his head, no longer concerned about what was happening in the sky, and quickly said to the man driving.

"Drive faster! Tell everyone to speed up, full speed ahead!"

Upon hearing this, the man driving the car picked up the walkie-talkie and shouted.

"Full speed ahead, full speed ahead!"

The convoy, which was already on the move, immediately accelerated sharply, speeding toward the Ten Rings' stronghold.
