Chapter 37 - New Mess

How did Lucius not die? I couldn't understand it. Sure the man was a saint, basically a demi-god by human standards, but my aspect should have been deadly enough to at least cut his face.

Huh? Was the bastard smiling? His teeth gleamed with my own red blood, what the hell… it was really pissing me off.

I shot my other hand under me at Lucius with the intention of using [Blood Purge] to try to remove Lucius's arrogant expression. However, Lucius simply stood straight and slammed my head deep into the dirt with the sole of his boot.

"There we are, that's the Vincent I want. The one who disregards himself until all that is left is his urge to kill."

While laughing, Lucius wiped away the blood on his face and clothes with his arm and cloak. I was getting irritated.

I moved my right, functional hand to Lucius's ankle– but he simply kicked it away.

It hurt, but I didn't care.

'Go die… damn bastard. SHIT!'

Lucius finally got his damn foot off my face and I took that chance to get up. I hate being under him, get up Vincent. The old man in front of me was making a fool of me, gods, why shouldn't he die?

Same with the masked swordsman, Blair. What sort of person did she think she was? Being mute the entire time and staring at me like I'm some bug. Orochi, that brute with twisted pleasures in his head about fighting and killing people.

What did he say before–something about me having an urge to hurt others? Yeah, of course I would with the way you treat me. Making me feel so useless, so puny, so weak like those ants in my first trial. The way they struggled so much against a single opponent, me, as I raided their nest. After I killed their brood, their queen, and tens of ants, they still came after me.

They were illusions made by the spell yet they had the arrogance to scar my mind. Damn it, screw all that stuff I said about humans struggling against life like those ants were.

There was a difference.

Yeah, there was a difference, I didn't know what that difference was, but there had to be a reason why I was suffering like this.

This wasn't my fault, not at all.

I pierced Lucius with my gaze, seething with a primal rage. "How do you want to die, you ancient fossil?" I rose up to his height and at the same time, Orochi's hand froze as he reached for a piece of meat.

Lucius seemed unimpressed by how i was threatening him, still he nodded. "I suppose I brought this upon myself, but you've finally woken up from your sleep haven't you Vincent. " He put his hand on my shoulder, riddled with healing scars which Lucius caused with the knife.

I slapped it away, my jaw clenched. "Don't touch me, I just told you that I'll kill you."

"We both are fully aware that will never come to fruition in your current state."

"Don't worry, it'll be quick."

"...Boy, do you not see how your previous usage of your aspect did nothing to me?"

"I only used one hand, I'll use my entire arm next time."

"..." Lucius rubbed his eyelids. "Oh gods, I made the future where he acts like a rebellious teenager with an identity crisis."

Orochi cackled.

Blair shifted in her seat to stare at the food slightly.

The Prism man curled into himself, seemingly falling into a sleep again.

I glared at Lucius, trembling with both fear and anger.

What sort of mess did I get myself in now?
