Chapter 39 - Aspect Legacy

10 hours earlier, I was informed that I acquired an Aspect Legacy.

"What, when?!" I shouted at Blair when she approached me earlier. When I saw that my face and the little-too-sharp fangs of her demon mask were centimeters away, I shrunk back.

We were outside the mirror mansion, instead standing on a flat island covered in blue sand with just the two of us. Behind Blair was a blue feathered harpy sliced up by the obsidian blade she held now.

It was dead, and Blair gave me the soul shards from it.

They were ascended soul shards of all things.

I didn't complain then and was in the process of absorbing them when she approached me saying I had an Aspect Legacy.

She watched me with those dark holes in her fake mongrel mask.

I wanted to cry under her gaze honestly, but my surprise kept me standing up.

"…You don't need to know anything else but that you have it, now go claim it." She didn't speak anymore.

I tore my eyes away from her figure, reminiscing about the way she beat me up.

"Runes…"

Attributes: [Wishing Moon], [Mark of Divinity], [Evolved Healing Factor]

[Higher Healing Factor] had evolved into [Evolved Healing Factor]

Attribute description: [ Your body's healing capabilities are of a different magnitude.]

I glazed over the runes, understanding why I was able to heal so quickly after Lucius stabbed me. So now, my regeneration could now bring me to a capable combat state even after being riddled with holes.

Crazy.

My surprise was small when this attribute was even more astonishing than a simple 'crazy.'

But my excitement about an Aspect Legacy was incomparable.

Aspect legacies were no small thing. A single legacy memory could be the founding of a legacy clan, and it was exactly why they were called 'legacy' clans. One was enough to found a clan, two or more could cement them to survive long. Now, I apparently had one of these sought out legacy memories.

Aspect Legacy: [Shadow Killer]

Shadow Killer description: [Ripped to shreds, plundered till only blood was left, red insides unveiled to the blue sky—yet your wish to kill a shadow persisted. A foolish wish for an unknown mortal, yet again, your sheer will weakly resembled the perished hunting goddess. Who was to go against the bloodlust from the Slaughtering King of Red and Tragedy?]

First Relic: Claim.

Second Relic: Unearned.

The second I read those runes, a hot and hazy feeling entered my heart and memories of Orochi and Blair appearing from the shadow of an arrow appeared. I even remembered the words Blair said, though it was like trying to listen underwater.

Blair's aspect was related to shadow, that I was sure of. Now, I had an aspect legacy named Shadow Killer.

…I had no reason to hesitate, my end goal was to escape and kill these people who captured me.

The ones who hurt my cohort.

Veins ran through my arm as I claimed my legacy memory.

I glanced under the table to look at my lap, in it was a dark red straight dagger with a small rectangular blade. It was the size of my hand.

Legacy Memory: [Blood Sipper]

Memory Rank: Dormant

Memory attributes: [Blood Drinking]

Attribute description: [This insidious dagger drinks blood and grows in length, sharpness, and strength accordingly. However, it will shrink and become weaker when starving.]

That wasn't bad, as long as I could supply blood, the dagger would become stronger. Wait, wasn't this actually really powerful? Sure, the starving part was an issue, but it wasn't that hard to find things bleeding in the dream realm or the waking world. If anything, there was an oversupply.

The dormant part was also likely because its rank changes with the blood it drinks.

That alone would've been enough for this blade to be considered a legacy memory but there was a second, even more terrifying attribute.

Memory attribute: [Bleed theory]

Attribute description: [This blade doesn't discern the difference between the physical and inanimate, all living beings of any kind will bleed when cut by this blade.]

This…no wonder my aspect legacy was named [Shadow Killer], I could theoretically kill a shadow with this. No, not theoretically, I can!

I bit my lip staring at the rectangular red blade of the dagger that resembled a box cutter. This box cutter could be the most powerful weapon in existence if I used it correctly.

I inhaled and dismissed the memory, turning it into small pin pricks of sparks.

"So…what are we doing now?" I said slowly, as Orochi continued studying his papers in the train seat.

He didn't respond, so I stayed silent before reaching for a soda can on our table given by a serving attendant on the train.

I popped open the soda and poured the fizzy, sugary drink in my mouth.

"Oh, yeah," Orochi said quietly, "we'll be preventing the death of a third of the government forces."

In this lone cabin filled with yellow light, with a sleek white and black design with red seats and carpet ingrained with golden patterns.

My mouth spat out a glittering fountain of fizzy soda above me.
