PENELOPE'S POV
I could no longer feel the floor under my feet.
As I fell into the dark, I yelled. My stomach roared like I had been pushed off a cliff. I could hear wind howling, and odd lights flashed around me like lightning. I believed I was going to fall forever until I hit a cold stone.
"Get up." Her voice could be heard everywhere and nowhere. "The first lesson begins now."
I got up on my hands and knees and spat dirt out of my mouth. The area around me was no longer Seraphina's house. Dark walls went up so high that I couldn't see the top. Torches blazed with blue flames that gave off no warmth. The air smelt like metal with ancient blood.
"Where am I?" I called out, but my voice seemed little in this wide area.
