Chapter 51 - Shadows of the Past

After spending two weeks in London, Jai finally returned to India with Shivani. But no sooner had he stepped back onto Indian soil than he was hit with a thunderous shock—Niranjan and Abhay Ji had sold off all their properties. Not only that, but the properties had been sold for twice their market value.

Jai was furious.

Without wasting a moment, he paid ten times the price to the new owner and reclaimed every inch of what once belonged to Abhay Ji. It wasn't just a business deal—it was a matter of pride and control. Once the properties were his again, he ordered his men to begin a full renovation of the mansion.

Inside the Mansion

In the quiet study room of the grand bungalow, Jai and Aman sat across from each other, the air thick with tension and unanswered questions. Jai, leaning back in his leather chair, turned toward Aman with narrowed eyes.

"Aman… any updates on that girl? The one who gave Sanjana the drugs?" he asked, his tone sharp.

Aman shook his head slowly. "No, Jai. Bharat Azad said they questioned every single guest at the party, but no one knows who that girl was… Where she came from, why she was there, what her motive was—nothing."

Jai's jaw clenched. Aman continued, "In the video, we only saw her from the back. Her face wasn't visible. Tell me, Jai—how are we supposed to track down someone without even seeing their face?"

With a sudden burst of anger, Jai slammed his hand down on the table. "Dammit!"

Aman reached out, gently placing a hand on Jai's shoulder. "Calm down, Jai. We'll find her. Sooner or later, we will."

Jai's eyes burned with rage. "The moment she's in my hands, I'll make sure she remembers it for generations. Her soul and the souls of her next seven generations will tremble at the thought of crossing Jai Singhania!"

Just then, Aman's phone buzzed. He quickly answered. "Hello?"

"Hello, sir! I'm Prakash Dubey from Bareilly. I'm the property dealer you had asked to reach out regarding that site."

Aman's expression changed. "Ah, yes! Tell me more…"

After a brief conversation, Aman hung up and turned to Jai. "That was the dealer from Bareilly. The property owner has agreed to the deal."

Jai's brows lifted. "He agreed? Good. Is he ready to show the site?"

Aman nodded. "Yes. The dealer wants to take us there."

"Then go check it out," Jai said casually.

Aman smirked. "You want me to go alone? This isn't my first time, you know."

"Well, I am back in India now, aren't I?" Jai teased.

Aman crossed his arms. "Then why don't you come along? You're here. No excuse."

After a moment's hesitation, Jai relented. "Fine. Let's go."

Journey to Bareilly

Boarding Jai's private jet, the two men made their way to the outskirts of Bareilly. Upon landing, their security team met them with a car. They drove toward the property site, unaware that fate was already setting the stage for a storm.

After inspecting the site thoroughly, Jai and Aman got back into their car, ready to return. Their guards were behind the wheel, and the car raced down the highway at full speed.

That's when it happened.

A girl suddenly came out of nowhere—perhaps trying to cross the road—and was hit by their car. The impact wasn't too severe, but it was enough to send her crashing onto the pavement. Blood began to stream from a wound on her head, staining her face so deeply that her features became unrecognizable.

Jai, alarmed, immediately ordered his men to rush her to the nearest hospital.

At the Hospital

Inside the emergency room, doctors worked swiftly. They cleaned her wounds, dressed the injuries, and gave her a sedative injection. A few tense moments later, a doctor stepped out of the OT.

"There's nothing to worry about," he informed them. "Just a minor injury. She'll regain consciousness shortly. You'll be able to speak with her soon."

Jai and Aman exchanged looks of relief.

About five minutes later, the girl stirred. Her eyes fluttered open, and a soft groan escaped her lips. Jai and Aman quickly made their way into the ward. But as soon as Aman saw her, he froze.

"You?!"

Jai turned sharply to Aman, puzzled. "Do you know her?"

Aman nodded, his face suddenly serious. He walked up to the girl's bedside. "How are you, Shanti?"

She nodded weakly. "I'm fine."

Jai and Aman sat beside her, but suddenly, Shanti broke into tears.

Concerned, Aman asked, "Why are you crying? What happened?"

But Shanti could only sob, her tears flowing without control. Aman's patience thinned. "We won't know what's wrong unless you tell us, Shanti."

Jai shot him a sharp look. "That's not how you speak to someone in pain. Have some empathy."

Aman muttered, "Sorry."

Then Jai leaned closer to Shanti, his voice gentle. "Please, tell us what happened. And… why were you on the road like that? Were you trying to harm yourself?"

Shanti, still trembling, spoke between sobs. "My uncle and aunt… they threw me out of the house."

Aman's eyes widened. "What? But why?"

Jai raised a hand, silencing him. "Let her speak."

Shanti continued, "I had applied for a job in London… and I got it. I was so happy. I was going to tell them everything, but before I could… someone—someone sent them photos. Edited photos. Fake photos showing me and…"

Her voice faltered. She glanced toward Aman.

"…and him… in compromising positions."

Jai looked at Aman, who was just as stunned.

Shanti broke down again. "I tried to explain, but they didn't believe me. They asked for proof. Proof of my innocence! And I… I had nothing."

She buried her face in her hands, sobbing harder.

Aman's fists clenched. "How could they do this to you? Judge you just by a photo?"

"They will never believe me," she whispered. "The photo was taken from such an angle that anyone would think I'm guilty."

Aman shot up, fury written all over his face. "I'll go right now and tell them everything. Show them the truth!"

"No," Shanti said quietly. "It won't matter."

Jai sat there in silence, his mind racing. Who would go to such lengths to ruin this girl's life? Why?

One thing was certain—whoever had done this… would pay.
