Four days later the soldiers arrived outside Gama. A team was then sent to scout the area.
There was tight security all around the town, ever since the Shadowcorp agents invaded the castle, security was now tighter than ever.
Lieutenant Foster after getting the report divided the men into three , the first hundred would perform a frontal assault, the second would attack from the flanks to cutoff escape while the eighty of the third would focus on security the residents and the remaining twenty would guard the weapons.
The first group moved in at the entrance of the town firing on the guards posted there. The town had no walls so it was easy to enter after disposing the guards. Soon the noise from their guns attracted other guards who rushed in and were ultimately cut down by the bullets . The guards who heard rumors of the rebel army and their unusual weapons immediately came to their senses and retreated only to be cut off by the second team. Within fifteen minutes, they had hunted and eliminated one thousand Blackthorn guards stationed in the town . They then focused on securing the perimeter while the remaining soldiers secured the residents.
The residents of the town expected looting, raping and destruction of property, but that didn't happen. The soldiers just consficated anything that could be used as weapons from the residents.
Since Baron Lejoy was imprisoned, his wife took their child to go stay with her family leaving the castle fairly empty. This made it easy for the soldiers to secure the castle. Next the Terran banner was raised high, they had successfully captured the town.
Some soldiers started making camp and placing their cannons and heavy machine guns in strategic locations, there was regular patrols and other soldiers went door to door assuring the residents of their protection as long as they do not disrupt the stability of the town.
Eight days later, thirty police officers, the construction teams and administrative officers arrived in the town.
The police officers were there for maintaining order within the town as the army focused on keeping the town safe. They were mostly armed with revolvers, batons and shotguns that used pellets not slugs.
The construction team was there to build walls and fortifications for the town, build a garisson to house the soldiers and then build a road that connects Patagonia.
As for the administrative officers, they were there to take census, measure out the territory, farmland and resources in the town. They were also responsible for registering the citizens and handing out identification.
Soon the territory filled with mostly serf farmers and blacksmiths was now buzzing with activity. Steam engines pumped water from nearby wells and mixed up concrete that was used to build the walls fortifications.
The construction crew were careful to follow specifications and build it up like the walls of Patagonia.
Within two weeks, the promised reinforcements came through, one thousand two hundred men under the command of captain Burke arrived in Gama. With them were more construction workers and administrative officers. There was also the newly appointed superintendent, Larry who managed all administrative matters in the town while captain Burke was in charge of the military and police.
Lieutenant Foster welcomed the captain into the town and the captain was happy with the level of progress in the town. With the extra man power, the captain made sure that there was regular patrols outside the town walls and on the roads leading to the town.
The castle had now been turned into a government building for both administrative and military command till they received further orders on how to proceed.
As the region was filled with farmland, a decree was passed, land would be divided among certified farmers with licenses , in exchange they would submit seventy percent of their yield while keeping thirty percent of the yeild for themselves which they could sell to the department of agriculture or keep for consumption. Only the department of agriculture would be responsible for selling grains and controlling the price of farm products.
There was also an incentive, farmers could receive as low as three percent tax cuts and subsidies on farming equipment.
In the Blackthorn palace, the emperor was reviewing two sets of bad news.
His men were being pushed back by the Fantasian army. At first he loved how they resisted and has been effective in the reduction of they nobilities fighting force but now Fantasia along with the rebels were getting on his nerves.
He had long received word of Marcellus defeat in Patagonia and how the rebels has taken control of Gama. It was a slap in his person , an insult to his Majesty. For this reason, he had everyone who escaped from the battlefield in Patagonia executed.
" Duchess Marie, what message do our spies in Fantasia being?" Emperor Quentin asked
" Your Majesty, they have confirmed that the weapons are being procured from the rebels, and that even the royal family of Fantasia have not been capable of replicating the weapon." Duchess Marie replied.
" Is there any progress in the procurement of said weapons?"
" No your Majesty, the weapon is heavy and is seriously guarded. But we could capture some of we lay in wait for their delegates when they eventually go to Patagonia to restock." Marie replied.
" What do you think commander Elias?" The emperor asked the grizzly knight standing before him.
" It is a sound plan your Majesty." Elias replied.
" Good , make preparations for five thousand of my imperial soldiers to secure the stretch of road where the Fantasian delegates would be following when returning from Patagonia, let them study the road, live in the area and when the time is right, let them capture the weapons and even some of the soldiers or delegates so that they would be able to teach how to use the weapon then the rebels will no longer have the undue advantage that they have then we can crush them and continue our conquest."
