I follow Farengar over to his Arcane Enchanter, and like we agreed upon, he takes a filled common soul gem out from a drawer in his desk.
"So, Ragnar. What kind of enchantment did you have in mind for the amulet?" He asks me.
"First I wanted to increase my magicka reserves... But I think a regenerate magicka enchantment could be smarter... If that lets me practice my spells more frequently." I answer him.
Farengar nods.
"Indeed, that's a good choice.
Maybe later, when you're skilled enough to efficiently use your magicka, you can consider a fortify magicka enchantment.
It's always a good idea to have a bigger pool of magicka when in combat.
But for now, let's make a regenerate magicka amulet."
Farengar puts my silver amulet onto the surface of the Arcane Enchanter.
He takes a chisel and lightly etch some kind of runes into it.
Next he takes the common soul gem and breaks it by smashing it against the enchanting table!
A bluish white light pours out from the broken soul gem, the soul that was captured inside it.
With his hands he use magic to guide the soul down onto the amulet, the soul seems to be drawm into the runes etched on it.
As the process is completed, the runes on the amulet now give a faint blue glow.
Farengar examines the amulet carefully, then holds it out towards me.
"It is finished, here is your enchanted amulet of regenerate magicka".
I take the amulet and put it around my neck with a grin.
"Thanks Farengar, this is great!" I say.
"Yes, now off with you." Farengar says with a
light tone, but still manages to sound serious.
"You probably have things to prepare before heading out tomorrow, and I have research to get back to." He says, while sitting down and pulling his big book onto his lap again.
"Yes, you're right. Thanks again for all your help Farengar!" I say as I turn to leave.
"Good, and remember to practice your spells, and prioritize the combat related ones!"... Farengar replies, without lifting his gaze from his book.
I leave his study area and enter the hall of the Jarl. Balgruuf and his people are still discussing the matter about the necromancers, and Proventus seems to already have written 3 letters, almost halfway done. If this is his job, then I guess I see why he's got a stick up his ass, can't say I envy the man.
Well, better get moving.
I've got 2 spells I want to learn today, and I'm supposed to meet up with Delphine.
Also, I want to visit the temple first.
I want answers about what happened when I ended up in Skyrim.
I was blessed by the being who talked to me, but he also strictly warned me not to do what he abhored...
So I'll need to learn who he is, to know what that is. His blessing made me able to wield magicka and grow in power, I don't want to find out what his curses does!
I leave Dragonsreach, heading down the stairs leading to the wind district.
I can feel my magicka recharging, it's about half full already!
Upon nearing the bottom of the stairs I notice a dark skinned man, dressed fine clothing, staring at me.
I remember this guy! It must be Nazeem!
He's looks like he wants to say something...
I reach the wind district and walk closer to him, right before I pass him, he speaks up.
"Who are you stranger, who's coming from the cloud district?" He asks.
"Oh, you don't get there very often?... Oh, what am I saying, of course you don't!..." I respond to him, before continuing my walk towards the temple.
I felt rude, but I couldn't stand that guy when playing the game. I could feel him staring daggers at my neck.
I don't want to spend what little, valuable time I left on him, so I ignore him.
Upon passing the big tree in the circled square, the Gildergreen, I reach the temple. I push open the tall wooden doors, the temple greets me with a quiet stillness. The scent of herbs and incense lingers in the air, probably meant to improve the smell from the several wounded patients that are sitting and laying about in here.
Light pours in through high-set colored windows, casting long, multi colored rays across the hall.
The floor is stone, smooth and worn. In the middle of the hall, the floor has a circle of colored stones, depicting a bird flying. Surrounding it, there are four shallow pools of water, the pathway between them lead toward the shrine at the far end.
I notice one of the priestesses looking at me, she is wearing brown and gold colored hooded robes.
She approach me.
"Greetings, I am Danica pure-spring, priestess of Kynareth. How may I help you?" She aske me with a soft voice.
I still hadn't found a way to ask about what had happened to me without seeming awkward, but today I didn't have time on my side, so I just as asked her straight forward.
"Greetings, I have a come seeking answers.
I believe I've had a divine encounter... and I would like to know if you could give me some insight, being a priestess of the gods of Skyrim."
She is raise her eyebrows, seeming surprised, her voice is now more stern than when she first greeted me.
"I am first and foremost a priestess of Kynareth, but I also know about the other gods. Secondly, they're not the gods of Skyrim only, but all of Nirn."
The first part she said like a lecture, but it couldn't be helped, I never had paid much interest into the nine divines when playing Skyrim, so I knew little about them.
"Now, what kind of revelation have you had, that brings you here, to seek out the divines?"
She ask, her voice having turned soft again.
"It wasn't a revelation, he spoke to me."
I answer.
Danica looks over her shoulders, to check if someone else is listening to our conversation.
"He spoke to you?... I would like to hear more about this, follow me."
Danica leads me to go over to one of the corners of the temple. There's a couple of chairs for us, and a wall that gives us some privacy. We sit down, she leans forward on her seat towards me, speaking with a hushed voice.
"Ok, tell me, what do you think happened to you?"
Think happened to me, I get that she's already sceptic about what I've told her.
So I decide to leave out the part about being conjured, I'll only make it even less believable.
"I recently had a... Vision. Everything around me was just white light-" I start.
I tell her about the diety giving me a blessing, and that some kind of oil had been poured over me.
About the strict warning to not do what he abhored, and to stay true.
"So you see Danica, I am grateful for this blessing, but I don't know who he is.
And thus, I don't know what he abhores."
Danica listens in silence.
When I finish, she remains quiet a moment, thinking over what she has just heard.
"Oil poured over you... Well Stendarr's symbol is a horn with oil flowing out from it, it is indeed a picture of his blessing."
"Stendarr..." I say, pondering the name.
"Isn't he the one with the vigilants?"
Danica nods.
"Yes the vigilants of Stendarr are warrior priests. Many of them are schooled in restoration spells.
They hunt deadra, and other abominations like witches, werewolves and vampires."
"And necromancers?" I ask, wondering if that may have been the reason why he meddled when I got conjured.
"Yes, necromancers are also an abomination to Stendarr.
He is a god of righteousness, forbearance, mercy and compassion, and necromancers usually lack all of those virtues." She answers.
"Damn, sounds like a good god, why don't you worship him?" I ask, trying to be funny.
Danica frowns upon my question.
"I do worship him, but I'm not a priestess dedicated to him." She says, not hiding that she's a bit offended.
"Sorry, didn't mean any offense. I am grateful for your answers, truly." I say.
Danica gets up.
"You're welcome. Now, I have patients I must attend to, please have me excused."
She walks over to a man laying on a mat on the floor and gives him a drink, then she casts a healing spell on him to soothe his pain.
My magicka was fully recovered by now, and I could use the practice, so I join her in healing another patient before heading outside of the temple.
I stand in the circle of the wind district, looking up at the skies
The two moons are up, and green aurora aids them in lighting up the sky.
My visit at the temple had cost me the rest of the day.
But atleast I'm more ready than I was this morning, what a day!
And I've learned the truth about which diety had helped me.
Don't consort with deadra, don't commit necromancy... It seems like evil in general was what Stendarr abhored.. It wouldn't be too hard to stay away from going down those paths, even though vampires and werewolves had their advantages when it came to power!
I don't want hunger for blood or rage to possess me.
I'd rather keep my blessing and my magicka!
Stendarr had also said he had given me a blessing to guide me, but what blessing is that? Is it what that quest screen was all about?..
Well, I haven't gotten another one, so I'll forget about it for now.
I decide to head towards the plains district, towards 'The Bannered mare', the inn where Delphine awaits.
And I should make sure to be ready when heading out for Rorikstead tomorrow, I have no idea what awaits me there!
