Saguna woke to an unusual sound. Not quite singing, not quite babbling, but something musical drifting through his window. The voice was high and sweet, like water trickling over stones, but formed into words he couldn't quite understand.
He dressed quickly and stepped outside to find his companions already gathered near the central pool, all staring at something in the water with expressions of wonder and confusion.
"Do you see it too?" Osa asked quietly, his voice filled with awe.
Floating in the sanctuary's main pool was a small figure, no larger than his hand. At first glance, it appeared to be a child, but its skin shimmered like the surface of deep water, and its hair flowed in impossible currents despite the still air. Tiny droplets of water danced around it like living jewelry, and when it moved, ripples spread across the pool in perfect concentric circles.
