Chapter 26 - 26 Horror

I don't do horror, so I'm just continuing #24 Necromancy.

"I'll never serve you!"

"Oh, but you will, Phantom. You will."

Danny tackled the Necromancer, but in doing so, he felt the debilitating pain in his head again. He cried out, releasing the man to hold his head.

The Necromancer got off the ground, tisking at Danny writhing on the ground. "I thought you'd learned your lesson already. Any attempt you make against me will give you pain."

Danny floated eye-level with the Necromancer. "Pain is nothing! I will stop you!"

His eyes watered from the stabbing sensation in his head, but he shot an ectoblast point-blank at the Necromancer. The Necromancer fell backward, screaming and clutching his arm where the ectoblast hit.

Danny clawed at the collar around his neck, but it sent shocks through his system. His whole body spasmed. How could he get it off?

The Necromancer gingerly stood up. "Stop fighting, Phantom," he growled. "Just do what I ask, and the pain will go away."

Danny gritted his teeth, seeing no way out of the situation. It was worse than when Freakshow controlled him. At least then he was able to smash the orb and break the spell. Now he had no way to stop his enemy.

"What do you want?" Danny spat.

The Necromancer smiled. "That's better. What I ask is simple. Kill Ernest Montez."

"What?" Danny asked in horror. "I'm not going to kill anyone!"

"You will do it," the Necromancer said. "I command it."

Something constricted Danny's core. It felt like he couldn't breathe, even though he didn't need to. His head swam again.

"You're feeling the effects, I see," the Necromancer said. "I told you, I control the dead. You're dead, so you're under my control."

That gave Danny an idea, but should he do it? Should he change into a human in front of this person? What would the Necromancer do if he knew Danny's secret?

Maybe if he got away, he could transform without the man knowing. That was Danny's best option, the only one he could see.

"Fine," he said, disgusted at himself for even saying it, "I'll do what you want." He flew over the forest before the Necromancer could say anything else.

The first thing he did was figure out his location. Amity Park wasn't too far away, so he flew in that direction. Then, while he was still above the forest, he touched down on the ground to transform into his human self.

The collar felt cold against his skin and somewhat restricted his breathing. Nervously, he touched the collar. Electricity coursed through him, enough to make him fall over. The fist returned around his core, making it so he couldn't breathe for real. Quickly, he transformed back into a ghost.

"Well, that didn't work," Danny said to himself, frustrated. He stood and kicked a fallen branch. It broke with a satisfying snap. Too bad he felt like he would fall from dizziness if he didn't get moving. He took off toward Amity Park again, searching his mind for an idea of how to get out of this mess.
