Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Chaos Bloom

The aftermath of the Seal of Despair's breaking left Duel Academy scarred but not defeated. Ice melted, and the island slowly warmed, but tension hung thick in the air. No one believed they had truly won—not yet.

In the main atrium of the academy, students gathered to listen to Chancellor Sheppard and Pegasus, who addressed them via hologram from Industrial Illusions' headquarters.

"There is one seal left," Sheppard said gravely. "The Seal of Chaos—the most unpredictable and dangerous of them all."

Pegasus nodded. "Unlike the other seals, which were born of emotion—Wrath, Control, Despair—this one is born of pure entropy. It doesn't feed on feelings. It devours structure—rules, reality, even the laws of dueling."

Murmurs erupted in the crowd.

"Wait," Syrus asked nervously, "does that mean it can break the rules of dueling?"

"More than that," Bastion interjected. "If Chaos fully blooms, duels will become unstable—randomized beyond logic. Even Duel Spirits may fracture or be rewritten."

The room fell silent.

That night, a heavy thunderstorm struck the island. But instead of rain, the clouds released glowing flower petals—each petal pulsing with flickering energy that made the Duel Disks malfunction across the campus.

Kaito sat up in bed, drenched in cold sweat. His Azure Monarch card pulsed in agony, as if under siege.

Suddenly, his window shattered, and petals swirled into the room. They formed a sigil in the air—a chaotic swirl of symbols that refused to stay still. Within the center, a voice echoed.

"We bloom from nothing. And return all to the same."

Kaito activated his Duel Disk, trying to scan the anomaly. Instead, the device emitted static and shut down.

A rumble shook the dorms. Outside, a field of glowing, shifting flowers sprouted across the academy grounds.

By morning, half the campus had transformed. Buildings shifted in layout. Staircases twisted into knots. Monsters summoned for practice duels appeared distorted—Red-Eyes with wings of Stardust, Elemental Heroes spliced with Machines.

"This isn't just environmental," Zane muttered, walking through the warped terrain. "This is affecting Duel DNA."

Kaito, Jaden, and Alexis arrived at the source—the academy's central garden, now completely transformed into a glowing chaos field.

At its center stood a figure in mismatched armor—shoulder pads from different monsters, a Duel Disk flickering between formats, and hair that shimmered in multiple unnatural colors.

"I am Nyros, the Blooming Void," he declared. "The Seal of Chaos incarnate."

Kaito narrowed his eyes. "So you're the final guardian."

"I am not here to guard anything. I am here to unmake. Duel monsters, traditions, decks, destinies—all are shackles. Chaos sets them free."

He pointed at Kaito. "You bear the Monarch's order. I'll unravel you first."

DUEL!

Kaito: 4000 LP

Nyros: 4000 LP

Nyros played Chaos Seedling – Jumblebud, which activated a bizarre effect: a coin toss and dice roll determined whether Kaito could draw next turn. He couldn't.

Then, Nyros summoned Fusion Abomination – Gear Hero Dragon using no fusion card at all.

Kaito gritted his teeth. "That's impossible."

"Not in chaos."

Kaito summoned Azure Vanguard – Kaelion, using Order of Flame and Steel to negate Jumblebud's field effects.

He struck back with a precise combo, reducing Nyros to 2300 LP.

Nyros only smiled.

"Your deck is structured. Beautiful. Predictable. Let's break that."

He played Anarch Bloom, fusing Kaelion and Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Kaito's graveyard without permission.

The resulting monster: Orderless King – Nullion, a hulking dragon-knight with no typing, no level, and an unreadable effect.

"Battle," Nyros grinned.

Nullion struck, tearing through the field with a spiral of collapsing data. Kaito's LP dropped to 1000.

But as dust settled, a glow surged from Kaito's chest.

He touched his Duel Disk. "This duel is real. So is our bond."

Blue-Eyes' voice echoed through him: "We stand together. Even in chaos."

Kaito drew: Unity Rebirth.

"I banish three monsters—Kaelion, Aetherion, and Azure Monarch—to summon… Eclipse Sovereign – Drakiel!"

A dark-blue dragon cloaked in armor of light and void rose, its wings stretching over the chaos field.

"With his effect, I negate Nullion's existence."

Nyros laughed—until Nullion vanished.

"Drakiel, Sovereign Eclipse Flare!"

Nyros' LP dropped to zero.

As the duel ended, the chaotic petals disintegrated, the academy slowly returning to normal.

But Nyros didn't vanish.

He stepped forward, now calm. "Well played, Orderbound. You haven't stopped chaos. You've proven it can coexist with structure."

He offered a single petal to Kaito before fading.

"A gift. You'll need it soon. The true architect watches."

That night, the sky above Duel Academy pulsed with a crimson star.

And deep below the school, beneath the sealed vault of the Sigils, a shadow stirred.
