Who is Voldemort?
That's a long story.
Simply put, he is a fanatical believer in pure-blood supremacy. Over ten years ago, he once gathered a large number of dark wizards who shared his beliefs and stirred up a bloody storm in Britain.
Later, due to some coincidences, he fell under the hands of Harry Potter, who at that time was just a baby.
And now, he has once again possessed the body of Professor Quirrell, the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, returning once more to the plot at Hogwarts.
Without a doubt, the just-returned Voldemort is incomparably weak. He doesn't even have his own body.
But even so, he is still not someone that a small wizard like Link can handle.
Therefore, after confirming the other's identity, Link quickly reacted and began directing Arkam to slowly retreat backward.
At this moment, the dark figure that had fallen in the bushes also stood up with difficulty.
He bent slightly, speaking with a humble and fearful trembling voice, "I'm sorry! Master! Your servant has disappointed you!"
"Stop wasting time! Hurry and stand up to find the unicorn!"
That strange voice sounded again, causing the figure's trembling to grow even more intense. But hearing that, he still nodded and bowed, feeling around in the dark as he walked forward. But he hadn't walked far when the voice on his body rang out once more.
"Wait! Huff... Huff... I smell a different scent! This is..."
As soon as these words were spoken, the figure's body froze.
Not far away, Link also suddenly felt something was wrong. He quickly mounted Arkam's neck, pulling the reins with all his strength and shouted, "Let's go quickly!"
Arkam did not reply upon hearing this, but its body suddenly shot forward. Due to the high speed, it even knocked down a big tree.
"Ah~ Look who it is? So my old friend is here too! Won't you come say hello to your former master?"
That hoarse and rough voice sounded again. But unlike before, it now seemed to carry a bit of joy.
Arkam's originally fierce movements suddenly stopped. A trace of struggle flashed across its ferocious face, but in the end, it still turned to face the dark figure.
Because what the other party had just spoken was Parseltongue, a snake language only Parselmouths can use.
This language possesses magical power that can command most snakes in this world.
If two Parselmouths give conflicting orders, the snake will obey the one it is more closely bonded with. And now, Arkam had obviously chosen to obey Voldemort's order.
This chilled Link to the core.
A Voldemort in a weakened state was already despair-inducing enough, and now with a basilisk added? This meant he was dead for sure today, even if Merlin came, he couldn't be saved.
But just as Link was sinking into despair, he unexpectedly discovered that Arkam did not return to Voldemort's side as commanded. Instead, it just turned its head and stayed still, staring at Voldemort from a distance.
"So it was you, liar! I'm going to kill you!"
Arkam said coldly. Hearing this, both Link and Voldemort were stunned, standing there unable to speak for a long while.
Right after, the white haze that originally covered Arkam's eyes quietly faded away, and that pair of golden eyes suddenly burst out with an ominous light in the darkness.
"Fool! Shut your eyes!"
Voldemort shouted hysterically. Quirrell, who was possessed by him, also finally reacted at this moment and quickly turned his head away.
This allowed them to temporarily escape disaster.
But Arkam's attack was not over yet. It swiftly coiled into a circle, then launched its head like an arrow, biting forward fiercely.
Thump!
A dim gray light shield suddenly appeared in front of the dark figure, blocking the basilisk's attack. The two collided with a dull and heavy boom.
But that was only the beginning. Next, the basilisk began a storm-like barrage of attacks, pounding the shield until it trembled repeatedly.
Seeing this, Link, who was sitting on Arkam, became overjoyed.
He had just felt sad about Arkam's betrayal, but didn't expect the surprise to come so suddenly.
"So you're Voldemort, huh?! Arkam! Charge for me!!" Link was so excited that he shouted. Because he saw hope of defeating Voldemort.
If he could really defeat Voldemort here, then today, no, for the next several years, he wouldn't have to worry about Voldemort's return anymore.
That would be a huge piece of good news.
But right at this moment, perhaps due to hearing Link's voice, the dark figure suddenly moved. Immediately, Voldemort's voice sounded again.
"You are... you are that Flamel family boy! Ha! You're at Hogwarts too, how... fortunate!"
Voldemort roared excitedly. At the same time, a black-red flash suddenly exploded from the figure, blasting both Link and Arkam far away.
After crashing through three giant trees, the basilisk and Link finally hit the ground.
"Ah!"
Link groaned in pain. He felt like his ribs were truly broken this time. But even so, he forced himself to stand up.
"Arkam! Are you okay?"
"Not good, Link," Arkam's voice was unexpectedly calm. "I don't think I can move. You should run, Link. Don't worry about me. That liar is too strong. You'll die."
Link didn't reply, but lit his wand.
Under the dim light, he could see that a giant tree, as thick as two of his waists, was pressing on Arkam.
This discovery made Link let out a breath of relief. Because this meant the basilisk probably wasn't fatally wounded. If he could move the tree, they could escape.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
Link waved his wand and chanted the levitation charm. Under the influence of his magic, the giant tree began to slowly lift.
But the speed was too slow, so slow that the dark figure had already approached behind them.
"Huff... Huff... Capture that boy alive."
Voldemort said slowly. Perhaps due to using too much magic earlier, he was panting heavily while speaking.
"Yes, Master!"
"Pulverize!"
A red light suddenly emerged from the tip of the figure's wand, causing Voldemort to freeze in surprise. He quickly shouted:
"Wait! Are you trying to kill him? I said alive—"
Before Voldemort could finish, the red light solidified into a glowing bullet, shooting toward Link at high speed.
Seeing this, Link's heart tightened. He immediately stopped casting the levitation spell, instinctively flicking his wand to cast his most practiced spell.
"Human Body Explosion!"
Zzzzt~
Red and gray lights collided, bursting into countless sparks. A strange hissing sound of boiling liquid echoed in the air.
Next, after a brief contact, the gray light representing the explosion spell extinguished suddenly. The red light kept coming!
Seeing this, Link froze. But luckily, the red light's direction was slightly altered by the collision, it missed Link and hit the giant tree instead.
Crack!
A crisp sound rang out as the tree crushing Arkam broke into three pieces.
Link was overjoyed and immediately jumped onto Arkam's neck, shouting, "Let's go!"
"Ah! Got it!"
Arkam roared, flipping over and speeding toward Hogwarts Castle with Link!
Watching their backs as they disappeared into the distance, Voldemort did not choose to chase them. Instead, he gave a strange smile and muttered:
"Flamel family boy... you can't escape. I'll find you... and then eat you."
This voice seemed to carry a kind of magic, bypassing space and drilling into Link's ears, making him shiver uncontrollably.
