Chapter 30 - Looting

Grey stood over the body.

His shadow stretched across her cooling skin, one foot planted beside the slowly widening pool of blood. The faint glow from his wrist flickered—soft and contained—as he raised his hand.

Without ceremony, he stored the dagger.

The very same blade that had ended her life vanished into his rune, dissolving into fragments of golden light.

Then he bent down.

His hand reached for the spear—the weapon that tried very hard to protect its master, the one that flouted in the air as if alive.

But now?

Now it lay still in his hand.

Lifeless.

It didn't even try to resist him resisting.

Its hostility had gone quiet with her heartbeat.

Grey tightened his grip on the polished shaft, then brought it into his rune space, just as he had the dagger.

Another weapon claimed.

His eyes flicked to the corner of the shop where the Stormbreaker Bow rested, leaning against a cabinet.

Smooth, sleek, wind-forged.

The bow that could turn a basic arrow into a piercing bolt of force.

He walked over, picked it up, and without hesitation, stored it as well.

Then he turned to the greatsword.

It was massive—longer than his torso and easily twice as heavy. He knelt, grasping the hilt with both hands.

The blade hummed faintly, even now. Not with magic that sparked or shone, but with dormant strength.

He looked at the note below it...

[Gravemark Greatsword]

Type: Heavy Weapon / Two-HandedRank: D rankLength: 5.4 feetMaterial: Forged from blacksteel core alloy, lined with embedded gravity runes.

Description:A colossal blade built not for elegance, but for dominance. Every inch of its frame is designed to deliver overwhelming force. Though silent and unassuming at rest, it carries dormant enchantments that manipulate its weight with terrifying precision.

Enchantments:

Mass Shift: At the user's will or mid-swing, the blade can multiply its weight by up to 10x, allowing it to crush armor, shatter shields, or anchor itself deep into terrain.

Anchorfall: When embedded into a surface and weight is increased, the sword resists removal by anyone except the wielder.

Momentum Carry: Sudden weight increases do not hinder the user's swing—momentum transfers fluidly, preserving strike speed while amplifying impact force.

Passive Trait:The blade naturally resists wear, elemental damage, and mana interference. Requires enhanced physical strength or a mana-assisted frame to wield continuously without strain.

Note: Favored among frontline brutes and battlefield executioners. Rare outside knight legions or ruin scavengers due to the runework involved.

A weapon that can increase its weight in mid swing doesn't sound much but grey can tell out of all weapon this was the one he like the most

It was very versatile and dangerous weapon

And has the capacity to become his main weapon.

He stored it.

Then, coiled neatly on a nearby hook, he found the rope.

It looked like any common climbing rope—rough and dull brown—but when he saw the note below it his eye widen a little in surprise..

Type: Enchanted WeaponRank: E rankBase Length: 15 meters (infinitely extendable)Material: Beast tendon core reinforced with mana-conductive threads

Description:A seemingly simple rope that conceals formidable magical enhancements. Light as silk but strong as chain, it adapts fluidly to the user's intent. Ideal for restraining enemies, climbing impossible heights, or anchoring objects mid-combat.

Enchantments:

True Latch: Instantly binds to any surface, limb, or object it touches. Once secured, it cannot be removed without the user's intent.

Weight Lock: Generates anchoring force up to 10x its current length in weight, allowing it to drag down large beasts or secure falling debris.

Snap-Tight: Tightens automatically on contact or mental command—fast enough to restrain even reflex-tier movement.

Endless Thread: The rope can extend without limit, growing indefinitely as long as the user wills it. Its strength and enchantments remain intact, regardless of length.

As grey read the description he smile and tucked it into his rune as well.

Then came the scrolls.

He crouched beside the shelf where the scrolls were neatly stacked—each bound in waxed ribbon, sealed with shimmering glyphs. Their faint magical signatures still pulsed, restrained but restless, like coiled snakes waiting to strike.

—First.Grey reached for the one with crimson lining and flame-scorched edges.

[Emberlash Scroll]A Tier-1 offensive spell.Releases a whip of crackling flame, capable of slicing through flesh and igniting cloth and dry wood.Enchantment – Searing Lash: Flames cling to the target for 3 seconds after impact, worsening burn damage over time.

Single-use.

A classic hunter's tool—brutal in close quarters, especially against unarmored enemies. Grey seen it with his own eye how useful it was in combat... Afterall without its help he wouldn't be able to kill the old women. So he stored it with a silent flick of his wrist as the rune on his palm shimmered faintly.

—Second. He picked up the scroll wrapped in a blue seal, faint moisture clinging to the parchment.

[Tidal Ward Scroll]A Tier-1 defensive spell.Conjures a swirling barrier of dense water to block physical attacks and elemental strikes for up to 30 seconds.Enchantment – Fluid Repel: Automatically pushes back weak projectiles and attackers upon activation.

Single-use.

Still useful, even if he didn't rely on spells. Having a defense ready—especially against magic—was always smart.

—Third.A scroll with spiral etchings and faint gusts swirling across its binding caught his eye next.

[Smokeblast Scroll]A Tier-1 wind spell.Unleashes a sudden burst of compressed air and dense smoke, blinding foes within a five-meter radius.Enchantment – Concealing Surge: Mutes noise for 2 seconds during release, creating a moment of perfect disorientation.

Single-use.

A tool for escape. Or ambush. He tucked it into his storage rune without hesitation.

—Fourth. He selected a scroll wrapped in feathers and threadlike breeze markings.

[Wind Carry Scroll]A Tier-1 mobility spell.Envelops the user's body in a thin layer of wind, increasing movement speed and reducing falling impact for 20 seconds.Enchantment – Lightstep: Allows short bursts of air-assisted jumps.

Single-use.

Perfect for rapid repositioning or evasive movement. A silent ally in uneven terrain.

—Fifth. He found another Tidal Ward at the bottom of the shelf—its seal identical to the second.

A duplicate. He didn't mind.

Defense was never wasteful.

Grey stored the last scroll.

Each one vanished into his rune with a faint pulse of light, no sound, no fanfare. Just efficiency.

Five scrolls. Five tools. Five edges for the road ahead.

Finally, the potions.

He found them scattered in a locked drawer behind the Artifacts counter.

Ten Tier-1 Healing Potions—clear red, standard recovery.

Three Tier-2 Healing Potions—thicker, more potent.

One Tier-5 Potion—dark crimson with a gold stopper.

Fourteen in total.

He stored them all.

Only two items he chose to keep on him— were the Swiftfoot Anklet and the Veilstep Cloak. the two artifact that help him increase his speed and hide his traces...

It gave him Speed and silence.

They remained on his body, already active.

With that, the shop fell into silence.

Everything of value now belonged to him.

And all that remained… was her lifeless body.

She lay crumpled on the wooden floor, eyes still wide open—staring blankly at the ceiling as if trying to find meaning in death.

But there was none.

No one would come for her.

And even if they did… by then, Grey would already be far from this village.

With that...

Grey turned without a word and walked toward the exit.

Behind him, the shop remained still.

Just a quiet room with a cold body lying in the center.

But she was just the first.

The first death in a line of many more to come.
