Chapter 56 - CHAPTER 56:THE TRAP

The upscale club exuded an air of exclusivity, its dim lighting casting elongated shadows across the polished marble floors. Nathan stepped through the grand entrance, his eyes scanning the opulent interior. The soft hum of jazz music played in the background, blending seamlessly with the murmur of conversations and the clinking of glasses.

He adjusted his cufflinks, his mind preoccupied with the urgency of Louisa's call. She had mentioned a significant discovery, something that couldn't wait. His gaze settled on a secluded corner where Louisa sat, her posture poised, a glass of wine in hand.

As he approached, she offered a warm smile, gesturing to the seat across from her.

"Nathan, I'm glad you came."

He nodded, taking the offered seat. "You said you had something important to share."

Louisa leaned in slightly, her eyes twinkling. "All in good time. Let's not rush. Have a drink with me first."

Nathan glanced at the glass in front of him, then back at her. "I'm not here for games, Louisa. If you have something to say, say it."

She chuckled softly, swirling her wine. "Always so serious. Just one drink, Nathan. It won't hurt."

He hesitated, then picked up his glass, examining the liquid. With a swift motion, he swapped their glasses, raising an eyebrow.

"Just to be safe."

Louisa's smile didn't falter. "Of course."

Nathan took a sip, the cool liquid sliding down his throat. He set the glass down, his vision beginning to blur.

"What… what's happening?"

Louisa stood, moving to his side. "Just relax, Nathan. Everything's fine."

He tried to stand, but his legs gave out, and he collapsed into her arms. She guided him back to the seat, then leaned in, pressing her lips to his. A camera flash illuminated the dim corner, capturing the moment.

As she attempted to guide him towards a private room, a voice rang out.

"That's enough, Louisa."

Samson stepped into view, his expression stern.

Louisa feigned surprise. "Samson! I was just helping Nathan. He had too much to drink."

Samson moved to Nathan's side, checking his pulse. "Save it. I know what you're up to."

He lifted Nathan effortlessly, turning to leave. Louisa watched them go, a sly smile playing on her lips. She still had the photos.
