Later that night, Titans Tower, East River in Manhattan, New York.
The Titans' training room was in full swing. Miss Martian, Supergirl, and Adam Eve(Samantha Wilkins) were sparring together, testing each other's limits. They flue with blinding speed , exchanging blows. Miss Martian's telekinesis created force barriers then threw objects at the two, Supergirl punched through them with ease, while Adam Eve reshaped them into harmless objects.
Certainly.
The final clang of impact echoed through the Titans Tower training hall as Kara (Supergirl) landed a practiced aerial kick into a reinforced energy field created by Adam Eve. A second later, M'gann (Miss Martian) lowered her hands and let the psychic projection field fade. Adam Eve, standing nearby, flicked her fingers and restructured the floating practice dummies into neat stacks against the wall with a weary sigh.
"Great job, both of you," she said between breaths, her tone light but genuine. "We're getting smoother." Kara nodded, brushing hair from her cheek. "Yeah. Those new formations you're teaching us are intense. Nice touch, Eve." Eve smirked.
"Part of staying ahead. You never know when someone stronger, faster, is coming for you." "M'gann floated down and let her boots touch the mat. "Let's take five before we end for the day." All three girls settled on the edge of the mat near the wall.
The wide training room had softened lighting now that the training was done. The Titans' banner overhead fluttered gently from the air filtration system as everyone caught their breath. Kara wasn't even tired. She would turn toward Samantha, the quietest among them. The girl had a toned, athletic build, wearing customized black compression wear with pink accents.
She sat down in a relaxed posture, Undoing her bun allowing her red hair to fall down past her shoulders. She started tapping her fingers in a rhythm on her knee. "So," Kara said, breaking the quiet, "how's college and the internship going?"
Samantha blinked and looked up, a smile tugging at her lips. "Good. Really good, actually. The Gotham program's no joke, but I'm holding my own.
As for the internship—everyone's great at Ictinus Industries. There's a real push for sustainable development and urban revitalization." Kara tilted her head. "That's Aster's company, right?" "Yeah," Samantha nodded. "Though I still haven't met her son who is acting CEO." M'gann looked down with a sad expression, then readjusted it."
His name is Cain he was a recruit a few years ago before the incident with the Titans and the League. "Was." Samantha said. M'gann nodded. "Yeah he was the one who helped take down another recruit with Conner and the others. That recruit went rouge and started killing other Titans. Samantha and Kara were shocked. "Thats the the same guy were talking about?"
M'gann nodded again saying I can't get into details because I and others were told to keep details on a need to know. "But I can say me and the others completely disagree with the hush order." "Jesus." Samantha says. I take it Batman was the one who did and the others followed?. M'gann nodded. "Yes a lot of heroes agreed and nearly the same amount disagree saying to give Cain the chances to proof himself and tell him about his parents." She stops and put her hand on her mouth.
Kara noticing that leans in a little along with Samantha. "Wait they know what happened to Aster, can you tell M'gann?" Kara agreeing. "Unfortunately I don't know and the ones that do wont say anything. Samantha sighs. "Of course nothing's ever that simple".
"I wondered if he's strong", like she is." M'gann gave a quick glance. "From I heard he was very strong besides still getting use to his powers he could be strong as superman one day if not more because of his unique biology."
Kara looked up at the ceiling. "I heard a rumour that he was a Viltrumite Hybrid." Even on Krypton we feared those guys until the government found out what we could do under a yellow sun." My father and Mother would lecture me on being careful around the Hybrid boys but never went into detaisl. Something about pheromones or something I don't remember .
Samantha sat forward slightly, her expression more animated. "Well this conversation went nowhere and feels a little to serious for my liking.
Samantha went back to talking about "Aster". "I still can't believe an actual Amazon running one of the biggest architecture firms in the world." "And her work is all about rebuilding areas the League fought in. She's been investing in urban safety tech for years some of it experimental, actually. It's why I'm there.
They let me tinker in the R&D lab when the floor's not too busy." Kara let out a low whistle. "Guess you landed a jackpot internship." Samantha chuckled, modestly shrugging. "I've still got another one lined up when this ends. I'll be at S.T.A.R. Labs next semester." That got a wide-eyed blink from M'gann. "S.T.A.R. Labs?
Why there?" Samantha leaned back on her palms, her smile tinged with something more serious. "I'm dual majoring in Applied Physics and Engineering. Virgil(Static) he's been doing an internship there and recommended it. Said if I wanted to understand my powers better, I needed to learn from people who understand how metas tick at a molecular level."
Kara stood up slowly, brushing off her long battle skirt. "Sounds like a plan. You're going to be a full-blown genius and a powerhouse at the same time." She stretched and turned toward the exit. "I'm gonna grab a shower and crash for a bit. Don't let Eve trick you into another set." Samantha and M'gann laughed. "We'll try," Eve said, already waving.
M'gann rose next. "I've got to head to Gotham. Batgirl wanted a quick meeting." Samantha's head tilted. "Oh? What for?"M'gann hesitated, her expression carefully polite. "Sorry. She said it's about something private." Samantha smiled knowingly and waved it off. "It's fine." The two girls departed, leaving Samantha alone in the training room.
She sat there a moment longer, her mind drifting. She reached for a towel, dabbing her forehead as she stared at the emblem hanging high on the far wall. Next two it was the names of the fallen Titans as a reminder to always be the best you can for any situation. "Titans Tower wasn't just a place for training it was my second chance to never be at anyone's mercy." She thought.
Elsewhere in Gotham
The warehouse had been abandoned since before the last major Gotham Police cleanup effort, tucked into a forgotten industrial corridor on the edge of Gotham's rail system. It was quiet, boarded-up, the exterior tagged with graffiti and left to rot. But inside things were alive. Cain stood in the far corner, dressed in matte black tactical gear that hugged his frame like armor.
His body language was tense but focused. On the cracked concrete wall ahead of him, a massive board had been mounted—paper clippings, digital readouts, pinned photos, and highlighted coordinates sprawled across its surface.
At the center of the board in bold red paint: WATCHTOWER SECURITY. Around it, dozens of strings connected photographs—Leaguers, timelines, security routes, zeta tube records, anomaly reports. In the upper-right quadrant, surveillance timestamps and faint screen captures from the day his parents disappeared.
"Tonight is the night I make my move."
