His eyes lit up when he realized he had leveled up five times.
"With the ones I leveled up before, I'm already at level 9. Good."
Even though he was bleeding from his sides and a little on his head, he got up once more. He gritted his teeth, pulled out the wooden stakes slightly piercing his flesh, and relaxed.
"It doesn't hurt that much, thanks to my Vitality. I have to take advantage of this and keep hunting. I'm already close to the first milestone of the mission. After that, I can return to the city safely." He looked ahead and started walking.
Hopefully, he wouldn't have to face an undead like that again. To avoid trouble, he made sure to pay attention to his surroundings.
As he was walking and facing undead creatures in the vicinity, he realized that thanks to his increased Mana, his Passive Energy had recovered a little, allowing him to fire a couple more shots, which made him feel safe.
Now, there was something else he noticed in the following hours.
After killing the last of the beasts he needed, he leveled up.
But what intrigued him was something he had been seeing for a while.
'What are these things, like fabrics? Am I in some kind of spider trap?' he thought.
He could see, albeit very little, a strange fabric enveloping everything right now. Air, leaves, trees, and even the ground itself.
There was something peculiar about this strange fabric: it was invisible, and besides that...
'It's moving, isn't it? It doesn't have a specific point it's moving toward, but it seems to form strange shapes everywhere.'
He initially thought he was trapped in some kind of trap, so he tried to lure the beast toward him, but after a full hour with no movement, he decided to start walking.
If he hadn't focused, it would have been difficult to perceive those strange fabrics, but if he had concentrated hard enough and tried to see them, even though they seemed invisible, he could have seen them.
'How strange.'
He was forced to sigh after finding nothing in his mind to answer that question.
Ultimately, he decided to look at his System instead of staring at nonsense.
There, a reward message indicated that he had completed the first mission of the Chain Mission, reaching Level 10.
This gave him 10 System Coins and 1 Stat Point.
He immediately looked at his Status Window.

He added the single point to Strength, increasing it to 66.
'Not bad. I wonder what stats people at my level have. Will I be okay? Above average, above or below?'
One of the reasons he went to the Academy and joined a clandestine organization was that he wanted to measure his strength against other people, and there, he would surely have many opportunities to do so.
But for now, he was satisfied with what he had achieved.
'It's time to go back.' Though. 'In just one day, I've risen to level 10, but it's already nighttime.'
He looked up and noticed the moon's glory above his head. Because he was almost on the other side of the small forest, he could see it clearly, and the trees didn't obstruct his view as much.
The moon was beautiful and huge, adding to the brightness of the large stars shining in the distance, illuminating his face.
He focused on walking while enjoying this fantastic view out of the corner of his eye.
After a long day of hunting in an unknown world, he finally stepped back onto the rocks that made up the streets of this city.
The typical smell of oil and smoke hit him as he entered the Industrial Zone. Despite the hour, the sound of factories in full operation was still there, working tirelessly day and night.
In addition, exotic animals moved along the streets alongside vintage cars.
Although Louis could associate the era in this world with the Industrial Age, reaching the Victorian Era on Earth, the cars in this place were typical of the post-World War II era.
Those classic Volkswagens, Mercedes Benzes, etc. Cars of that style. Although they were rarely seen on the streets, they were there.
Now, they all had one thing in common: they were powered by steam, which made for an interesting contrast and something unique and exciting that caught his attention.
When he returned to his mansion, his uncle had already sent someone to clean the house, so everything was spotless. The lawn in the courtyard was perfectly trimmed, the hallway was dust-free, and the interior was sparkling.
"Such excellent work in such a short time. Not bad." He smiled, approving of the good cleaning job that had been done and wanting to give whoever did it a raise.
Despite that, there was no food prepared. And the kitchen...
"I hadn't noticed, but there's no gas cylinder, and obviously they don't have electric stoves. There's no oven either..."
He couldn't help but sigh.
"Should I go out to eat something?" he thought.
Although he could buy food from the System, was he enjoying life in another world? Not even close.
If someone went to another world and didn't enjoy the local cuisine or visit the city, they weren't enjoying anything. They were simply an idiot.
And he didn't want to be an idiot.
Going out for a night in this beautiful city would be great.
In the morning, he visited the streets of the Industrial District. The Street of Bread Fragrances left a good impression on him because of the wonderful smell of bread.
But now he wanted to go to the streets of the Upper District. He had heard that they sold the best food, and the atmosphere and entertainment were the best.
So, after showering and changing his clothes, he left the house and headed for the Upper District.
