"That's because there are connections that are unnecessary or can be shortened. I've seen people create giant Arcane Rhythms to invoke something small. It doesn't make sense. Instead of saying the basic chant I said a while ago, I could choose to say..."

"Oh, God of Fire, attend to my invocation and lend me your power to burn my enemies."

"If I say that and mix it with my Magical Power to create the Rune in my head, the result would be the same."

Louis nodded, understanding better.

"If the result is the same, why then teach the other Rune which is longer and less accurate?"

Hardrial smiled.

"That's what I was getting at. The longer a basic Rhythm is, the less magic power it consumes. It becomes tedious to listen to, so your intent on the Threads tends to attenuate slowly. That's why they're taught, they're easier to use and learn, because you need to learn to control the intent."
