After a while, Asher arrived at the exam's venue, and after parking, Cleo didn't waste any time before she left the car, walking away without even sparing them a glance.
Asher chuckled seeing her walk away, and Camille gave him a look.
"Aren't you supposed to run after her?" She asked with a judgmental look.
"And why should I?" Asher asked with a confused look.
"Because you clearly like her?" She replied with a question of her own.
"I only have one sister, and that's you. Why should I be nice to others especially when they don't like you?" Asher declared with a firm voice.
Camille felt a strange feeling in her heart after his declaration. She had no idea what she was to believe, but she knew she shouldn't hold on to hope.
Her tragic end in her past life was enough warning for her. She couldn't believe her brothers even if their changes were noticeable.
"I'll be on my way to the hall, or I might get late," Camille lowered her head, fiddling to find her pencil pack while avoiding eye contact with Asher.
"Are you looking for this?"
She suddenly heard Asher's voice, and she raised her head only for her to see him holding the pencil pack.
She collected it, and muttered a low 'thank you,' before walking out of the car.
"I packed the pencil pack with love, I hope you do well. Good luck Cam, I'm rooting for you." Asher wished her luck causing her to stop in her steps.
She turned to look at him, her brows furrowing. She took it with a quiet 'thank you' before stepping out of the car.
Asher sighed as he watched her walk away, before resting his back on the car seat after adjusting it. He would be waiting for her till she would be done.
Camille soon caught up with Cleo who had deliberately slowed down her steps after noticing that Camille was behind her.
Camille didn't bother to slow down when she passed by Cleo, but Cleo being the troublemaker she was called out to her.
"What do you want this time?" Camille groaned before turning to look at Cleo, her eyes cold, and her face neutral.
"I just wanted to wish you good luck in this exam as you would be needing it," Cleo smiled at her.
Camille frowned at the obvious fake smile as she found it sickening.
"Thank you, I also wish you luck in your exams, you would need it as well, don't you think?" Camille asked with a smile.
Cleo didn't respond, but she had that sweet smile still plastered on her face.
Both ladies stood opposite each other, sparks flying as they calmly stared at each other. There was an underlying current between them, and the students who passed by them could sense it.
The battle line had been drawn between both girls, and the first phase was the exam. Who would come out on top still remained a mystery.
Would it be Cleo who is sly, manipulative and cunning? Or would it be Camille who has survived one lifetime, carrying a horrific past, and is now a stronger version of her past self?
"Have fun," Camille waved before she resumed her steps.
Cleo watched her, and she chuckled deliriously, and this caused the surrounding students to stay away from her as her voice was loud.
"What are you all staring at? Never seen a girl laugh this way?" Realising that she was being stared at, she lashed out at them with a loud voice, causing the students to scurry away.
After the whole charade, they were finally allowed into the hall, not after being searched to see if they carried incriminating evidence on them.
It just so happened that Camille and Cleo were placed together in the hall.
Camille silently scoffed, but Cleo grinned widely as though she expected this.
"See, fate brought us together again, good luck," Cleo smiled creepily as she watched Camille take the seat beside her, and this caused the hair on Camille's skin to rise up in a weird way.
Nevertheless, she didn't show Cleo that she was rattled by her words or smile.
Camille calmly raised her hands, and this got the attention of one of the exam's invigilators.
"Sir, I would like to request a change of seats, I do not feel comfortable with my seat partner," Camille calmly requested.
The invigilator stared at her for a while, before decisively rejecting her and walked away.
Camille gasped quietly, but she straightened her back before taking her seat.
"You are really pushing your luck Cam. You think this place works like your family home? Do you think those invigilators are your stuck up brothers who do everything someone asks them?" Cleo sneered at her.
Camille didn't give a response. She figured that it would be best to act as though Cleo wasn't beside her. Maybe if she did, it would block out the nonsensical rubbish she is currently listening to.
Cleo continued blabbing, but when she realized that Camille wasn't paying attention to her, she stopped.
'You might act all high and mighty, but just remain calm, and see how I would destroy you,' Cleo muttered under her breath, glaring at Camille with a malicious expression.
After the entire students had settled into the hall, the exam began fully, after the supervisors gave the rule, and passed their exams materials.
Camille held the paper in her hands, and different emotions filled her mind. In her past life, she was unable to take the exam.
So she felt surreal to be able to take the paper. She sighed, muttered a short prayer under her breath. And when the supervisor shouted for them to begin, she flipped over the paper, and she beamed on seeing the questions.
Cleo, on the other hand, bit the end of her pencil with a frown on her face. She could only inhale deeply before starting. It was safe to say that she did not have a little idea of the questions which were set.
Thirty minutes into the exams, while others were still struggling to complete a paper, Camille was already on the second one.
It just so happened that the materials she studied the previous night was what was set, and this gave her the upper hand despite not writing the exam in her past life.
Cleo turned to look at Camille who was constantly scribbling on her papers, and the jealousy which was growing in her heart grew.
A strange light flashed through her eyes, and she smiled.
A few minutes later, one of the supervisors stood beside Camille. It happened to be the one she had asked for a change of seats.
"Young lady, stop writing," Kelvin the supervisor instructed.
Camille frowned. She had sensed his presence, but she didn't put too much thought into it. But now that he had asked her to stop writing, she had a bad feeling.
Her frown deepened as she could hear the murmuring from the crowd. But regardless, she did as told before raising her head to look at him.
"Does this belong to you?" Kelvin asked, holding up a piece of paper which was clearly not empty.
There was a faint smirk on Cleo's face as Kelvin held up the paper.
