Chapter 45 - Chapter 15: Return to Wall Street

Volume 3: The Rise to Power

Summary: Jack clears his name and returns to Wall Street, proving his worth and earning the respect of everyone who once doubted him.

The ripple effects of Richard Clayton's imprisonment had yet to settle within New York's financial circles. Like a hurricane sweeping through, it cleared away years of corruption on Wall Street and opened the door for ambitious individuals to rise. Among them stood Jack, once discarded as a "failure" by Wall Street, now poised at the edge of the storm, ready to soar.

Over the past few months, Jack had been far from idle. Taking advantage of the power vacuum left in the wake of Richard's downfall, he operated in the shadows, orchestrating a series of complex financial maneuvers that multiplied his capital like a snowball rolling downhill. Those underworld associates who once looked down on him now regarded him with newfound respect—some even eagerly sought to align themselves with him, hoping to secure a place in the new order.

Most crucially, Jack had secretly acquired shares of Clayton Financial, the firm once controlled by Richard. After Richard's fall, the company's stock plummeted and internal morale crumbled. Jack seized the opportunity to buy low, aided by a few key allies. He was now the largest individual shareholder of Clayton Financial.

Now, it was time to step into the light.

He needed a grand entrance—a moment that would capture media attention and force Wall Street to recognize him once again. Opportunity came swiftly in the form of the New York Financial Forum, an elite gathering attended by Wall Street titans, political figures, and media moguls.

Jack understood this would be his perfect stage.

To prepare, he knew he had to change. He discarded his dusty, worn-out clothes and hired the finest tailor to craft a custom Armani suit worth a small fortune. He cut his unkempt hair, shaved off his beard, revealing the sharp lines of his face. Even his posture and mannerisms were refined under the guidance of a professional etiquette coach.

When he stood before the mirror again, the reflection was no longer that of a broken-down vagrant, but of a confident, composed, and fiercely ambitious financial leader.

He found Kevin.

"Kevin, did you get the forum ticket?"

Adjusting his glasses, Kevin grinned proudly. "Of course, Jack. Everything's arranged. I pulled some strings and got you a VIP pass. You'll have a great seat—perfect for making an impression."

"Good." Jack nodded. "Also, prepare a speech for me. Topic: 'The Future of Finance and Risk Management.' It needs to be sharp, thought-provoking, but not overly radical. Understood?"

"No problem, Jack. I guarantee your speech will blow everyone away," Kevin said confidently.

On the day of the forum, Wall Street buzzed with luxury cars and high-profile attendees, the air thick with the scent of money. Jack took a deep breath, adjusted his tie, and strode into the venue with steady steps.

His arrival immediately drew attention. Whispers and sidelong glances followed him—people couldn't believe their eyes. This was the same man once considered a fallen star, reduced to living on the streets.

Jack ignored the stares and walked straight to the VIP section, where he found his assigned seat. Positioned beside several Wall Street magnates, one of them was none other than Stephen Greene—the very man who had helped orchestrate his downfall.

Stephen noticed Jack instantly, his expression shifting between surprise and disdain. He hadn't expected Jack to appear here, let alone as a VIP.

"Well, well, Jack. Long time no see," Stephen said with a forced smile. "I must say, I'm impressed you managed to get in."

Jack met his gaze calmly, his face unreadable. "Stephen, I'm just as surprised you can still stand here so brazenly. Your audacity is more impressive than I imagined."

Stephen's face darkened. He knew Jack was referring to his involvement in Richard's illegal operations.

"Jack, the past is the past. There's no need to bring it up," Stephen said through clenched teeth. "I suggest you stay quiet. Don't stir up trouble, or you might regret it."

"Stir up trouble?" Jack replied coolly. "Stephen, I'm only trying to reclaim what was taken from me."

A flicker of unease crossed Stephen's eyes. He knew Jack possessed incriminating evidence—if exposed, Stephen's reputation would be destroyed.

"What do you want, Jack?" Stephen asked in a low voice.

"I want you to pay the price," Jack replied coldly and firmly.

Before Stephen could respond, the forum host stepped onto the stage, announcing the official start of the event.

For the next few hours, Jack listened attentively to the other speakers while observing the room. He noted the anxiety among many regarding the future of Wall Street after Richard's fall—everyone was searching for direction and opportunity.

He knew his time had come.

Finally, it was Jack's turn to speak.

As the host introduced Jack's background, scattered applause filled the hall. Clearly, many still doubted the man once labeled a "homeless vagrant."

Jack stepped onto the stage but didn't begin speaking immediately. Instead, he scanned the audience, locking eyes with each person present.

His gaze was calm yet unwavering, his presence powerful and self-assured—as if he had always belonged at the center of this world.

Gradually, the room fell silent. Everyone leaned forward, waiting.

"Ladies and gentlemen, friends, thank you for being here," Jack began, his voice clear and resonant throughout the hall. "My name is Jack Ryan. I was once a Wall Street elite—and also once a homeless man. I've experienced the highest peaks of success and the deepest valleys of despair. But I never gave up. I never surrendered. I believed, always, that perseverance would overcome any obstacle."

"Today, I'm not here to share my personal story. I'm here to discuss the future of finance and the importance of risk management." Jack paused, then continued. "In recent years, the financial industry has grown rapidly, but it has also exposed many problems. Some pursue profit at any cost—manipulating markets, engaging in illegal transactions—leading ultimately to financial crises."

"I believe the future of finance must be built on integrity, transparency, and regulation. We need stricter oversight, stronger systems, and more responsible professionals. Only then can we prevent future crises and ensure finance serves society effectively."

Jack's speech was insightful, bold, and deeply moving. Drawing from his own experiences, he warned the audience to remain vigilant, reinforce risk control, and uphold ethical practices.

Thunderous applause erupted across the hall. Many were moved by his words. They began to reassess this former "vagrant"—realizing that Jack was not just a financial expert, but a visionary and courageous leader.

Stephen Greene's face grew darker by the second. He hadn't anticipated Jack's ability to rebuild his image and regain Wall Street's trust. He realized that Jack's rise posed a serious threat to his own position.

After the speech, reporters swarmed around Jack, firing questions. Calm and articulate, Jack answered each with poise and eloquence, earning widespread praise from the press.

The next morning, major headlines featured Jack's return. Once again, he was the talk of Wall Street, his name echoing across New York.

Jack had finally returned to Wall Street.

But this was only the beginning.

Next, using his intelligence and courage, he would reclaim everything that had been stolen from him. Those who had betrayed and hurt him would soon face the consequences. His path of vengeance had just begun.
