"W-what even is that thing?" Lilian muttered, glaring at the membrane-covered creature that had just been born—or rather oozed—out from her master's shoulders.
The pulsing sac still shimmered with a wet sheen, and something was visibly squirming inside, small limbs pressing faintly against the veil of flesh.
"A parasite maybe!" Sylvia responded, just as horrified by the sight. Her voice trembled slightly from sheer unease. She took half a step forward, then quickly retreated again.
The sound of rain outside persisted, soft but steady, and the water trickled through gaps in their damaged wall. Droplets hit the stone floor one by one, merging into little muddy pools.
"A parasite? The size of a doll?" Lilian asked, raising an eyebrow. Her skepticism showed clearly in the way her lip curled. "It could be some sort of a... umm... what do you call this?" She tapped her chin, visibly thinking hard but not arriving at any useful conclusion.
