Derick and Castorice were awakened by a knocking sound.
"Hm? Who would come here?" Derick muttered to himself in confusion after waking up.
Only a few people knew about this place. Iason was out doing business, Phainon was probably still being rescued, and Mydei wouldn't come over easily. So who could it be?
Both of them were puzzled.
"Derick, I'll get the door." Castorice was the first to walk to the door and open it.
She was a little worried that it was Cipher causing trouble again, so she planned to go to the door and give the visitor a 'surprise'.
After opening the door, it wasn't Cipher who appeared, but two Elders from the Elder Council. One of them wore a polite smile, while the other had his arms crossed with an impatient look on his face. But at this moment, seeing Castorice appear, they both broke out in a cold sweat and quickly retreated two steps.
Other than Derick, anyone who got too close to Castorice was risking their life.
"What are you doing here?" Castorice frowned and questioned them upon recognizing them as Elders from the Elder Council.
"Lady Castorice, we are here under the orders of the Elder Council to ask Mr. Derick some questions," the polite Elder said courteously to Castorice. Beside him, the impatient Elder loudly shouted, "Don't ask what you shouldn't. Just listen to the Elder Council's decision."
Many passersby had gathered around, and seeing the arrogant demeanor of the latter Elder, they all frowned. A few hot-tempered individuals even clenched their fists, wanting to teach him a lesson.
Castorice tilted her head and looked at him, her eyes narrowing.
"I remember Your Excellency has always been by Lady Caenis's side," she said softly.
Hearing her expose his affiliation with Caenis, he became somewhat embarrassed and angry, but still shouted forcefully, "So what if I am? We are all for Okhema. If you defy our orders, you are going against all the citizens of Okhema..."
The Elder's words were cut short as Castorice suddenly sensed movement behind her. With a slight smile, she sidestepped, clearing a path. And as the path cleared, a massive greatsword flew out, smashing directly into his face and knocking him to the ground.
Derick walked out with small steps. Seeing the Elder on the ground, his head bloodied from the impact of the Blade of Scourge, he felt satisfied. He then picked up the Blade of Scourge and stepped on the Elder's chest.
"You talk about citizens and Okhema, what right do you have to represent all the citizens? Did the citizens make you an Elder so you could treat people with such a vile attitude? Or am I a criminal? If not, why are you shouting like this?"
He was good-tempered, not devoid of temper. And he particularly detested those who used the people's name to satisfy their own selfish desires. Such people were the most disgusting. Derick didn't even bother arguing and directly threw the Blade of Scourge.
The fallen Elder's teeth were broken by Derick's blow, and his mouth was full of blood, unable to utter a word.
Derick looked around and noticed that the surrounding people were looking at him with kind smiles. The few hot-tempered individuals from before even gave Derick a thumbs-up.
"This Derick kid, he looked as cute as a cream puff before, I didn't expect him to be a genuine warrior deep down."
"Go ahead and hit him. We've disliked this Elder for a long time too."
An auntie from a fruit stall even came over, tidied Derick's hair, and wiped his face with a handkerchief. Then she shot a disdainful glance at the Elder Council member.
"What a bad fellow, only knows how to cause trouble, even making Little Derick angry."
"Auntie, Auntie, please don't worry, I'm fine." Seeing everyone's support, Derick didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but his heart was very touched.
During these past few months, everyone had pitied him for being 'parentless' and often took care of him. Now, at this critical juncture, they still chose to step forward and support him.
What a group of good people.
Tribbie trotted over at this moment. She had been worried something might happen to Derick, but seeing the situation, she slowed her pace, a happy smile appearing on her lips.
"Mm, it seems Little Derick has a good relationship with the people around him. If there's a chance in the future, Aglaea should also experience this kind of life. She's been a demigod for too long, and now she feels detached from the lives of the common people."
Tribbie muttered to herself and then approached.
At this moment, the remaining Elder stood by silently, his mouth agape, somewhat hesitant, seemingly worried if Derick would strike him too.
"He's not one of Caenis's people," Castorice reminded Derick.
"Mm, I know." Derick nodded and then asked the Elder, "May I ask, why is the Elder Council looking for me?"
Hearing Derick hadn't raised his greatsword, this Elder breathed a sigh of relief and then said to Derick, "Citizen Derick, regarding the events that occurred in Suspended Sword City, the Elder Council has some questions. A Citizen Assembly will also be convened later. Please come with us now to provide an explanation."
"Alright, I will cooperate with the Elder Council."
Derick nodded.
"Derick boy? What exactly happened? Why do you need to go to the Elder Council?" someone from the crowd asked.
"It's like this, I was in a hurry when I came back just now and didn't tell everyone." Derick picked up the Blade of Scourge. "This weapon is the sword of the Strife Titan, Nikador. When I was in Suspended Sword City, I accidentally obtained Nikador's energy in my body. The Elder Council has summoned me for this matter."
"Aunties, sisters, and uncles, please don't worry about me. I'll go there, explain things clearly, and come back."
Hearing that Nikador's power had appeared in Derick's body, everyone was momentarily stunned. But seeing that he could freely touch Castorice, obtaining Nikador's energy didn't seem like such a big deal.
In fact, someone even asked Derick with concern, "Derick, are you sure your body is okay?"
"Don't worry, Physician Hyacine from Twilight Courtyard has checked me, my body is fine," Derick quickly replied. Then, seeing the tall craftsman Hatonus in the crowd, he quickly said, "Mr. Hatonus, can you help me craft a scabbard? I want to carry it on my back."
"Alright," Hatonus agreed.
"Then, everyone, I'll go to the Elder Council and be right back." Derick was about to leave with the polite Elder for the Elder Council.
Castorice silently followed beside Derick.
"Um, the Elder Council didn't say Miss Castorice should... Never mind, never mind." The Elder was about to say that only Derick had been summoned, but looking at Castorice's expression, he very shrewdly shut his mouth.
Derick and the other two made their way through the crowd.
Tribbie was waiting for them there.
Seeing Derick, Tribbie gave him a thumbs-up.
"Little Derick, well done!"
