Chapter 63 - Caenis Takes the Bait (Bonus Chapter)

As Anaxa walked into the distance, his expression was thoughtful.

"All the energy flow in his body and such can be explained. But the only thing that cannot be understood is how this human body initially obtained the Strife Titan's energy."

From 1 to 2, from 2 to 3, Anaxa had grasped it all.

The only thing he didn't understand was how Derick went from 0 to 1.

"It truly is a subject that makes one unable to resist seek answers."

Anaxa muttered to himself.

If it weren't for the even more mysterious pitch-black monster, he felt his attention would be more focused on Derick.

"I just wonder if that Titan is interested in his situation."

Anaxa thought to himself.

At this moment, the probing of the Reason Titan attached to Anaxa's body did not move at all.

It itself was also very interested in Derick's physical condition, but its thoughts were the same as Anaxa's. It wanted to first find the pitch-black monster that could devour the Strife Titan.

And on the other side, Derick, hearing Anaxa's words, couldn't help but secretly shake his head.

Anaxa thought he, like Aglaea, hadn't blasphemed the gods and understood his own thoughts, but in reality, Derick was very clear about his own body's situation.

This absolutely could not be exposed.

However, when Anaxa mentioned letting him go to the Grove of Epiphany to study for a period, it reminded Derick of another matter.

After Little Gray Hairs (likely a nickname for Phainon or another character) arrived, the Grove of Epiphany would be attacked by the Black Tide and the Flame Bearers. But now, the appearance of the Flame Bearers was earlier than in the plot, and they had also suffered a major blow in Suspended Sword City.

Under these circumstances, would he adjust his direction and attack the Grove of Epiphany sooner?

"Sister Castorice, I remembered something," he said to Castorice.

Of course, he also knew that Aglaea was watching them at this moment.

"What is it?" Castorice asked Derick.

Derick said thoughtfully, "I was thinking, will the Grove of Epiphany be attacked? That cloaked freak we met in Suspended Sword City, his target is the Titans, right? Besides Okhema, what other place would be most suitable for an attack?"

"You mean the Grove of Epiphany?"

"I'm just saying there's a possibility. If possible, I think we should still pay more attention to that side. After all, the Grove of Epiphany gathers much of Amphoreus's wisdom and spirit. If there's truly a loss, it would be a loss for all of Amphoreus."

"Indeed, you have a point. I will report this to Lady Aglaea later and try to find a suitable solution."

This was the most Derick could do at the moment. He couldn't possibly guard the Grove of Epiphany every day, wielding the Blade of Scourge.

The key was that his current combat power was still inferior to that of the Flame Bearer.

"I still need to train my combat strength."

Holding Castorice's hand, he walked outside.

"Sister Castorice, spar with me for a bit later. Then afterwards, let's go find some wandering monsters for me to gain practical combat experience."

"Okay."

...

A few more days passed.

Caenis's brutally murdered subordinates returned to Okhema, covered in blood. They stumbled to where Caenis was.

Covered in blood, their bodies were also in a wretched state. Although Derick had let them go, he hadn't made it easy for them. Not to mention, with only a few of them left, it was inevitable that they would encounter monster attacks on the way.

After finally returning to Okhema, they were in as miserable a state as one could imagine.

"Lady Caenis..."

"What happened to you? And the others? Why did only two or three of you come back?" Caenis was greatly shocked to see the condition of her subordinates.

"I, we encountered the monster you, you spoke of," this subordinate said, panting heavily. "We were attacked by that monster. In the end, only a few of us managed to run back to Okhema."

Hmm!? There's news of that fellow!?

Hearing her subordinate's report, Caenis's spirits couldn't help but lift.

Anaxa had said that he would only choose to help her side after obtaining that pitch-black monster. Now that the monster's whereabouts had been discovered, she could naturally go with him to capture it.

This would also count as fulfilling her agreement with Anaxa, ensuring that Anaxa would help her in the upcoming Citizen Assembly.

At the same time, she could take things a step further.

After Anaxa found a way to absorb the Titan's power from that monster, she would then find a way to eliminate Anaxa and take that skill for herself.

"The Golden Lineage? These fellows will no longer be needed in the future. The future of Amphoreus still needs to be created by us."

Caenis clenched her fist, thinking to herself.

She looked at her subordinates and said, "Go and rest well. After this matter is over, I will give you a generous reward. You have worked hard on this operation."

Hearing Caenis say this, her subordinates' faces lit up with surprise.

Although there were many casualties, they had returned and would receive sufficient rewards. That was truly a joyous occasion.

Suddenly, they all felt the wounds on their bodies no longer ached. One of them spoke to Caenis, "By the way, Elder Caenis, we haven't said where that monster is. It's right..."

He was just about to speak when Caenis gestured for him to stop.

"Don't tell me now. You go rest first. After we leave the city, then you can lead us there."

Caenis knew very well that Aglaea was listening clearly to their conversation here. If she wanted to get that monster by herself, she absolutely could not let Aglaea know any information.

"Yes."

Caenis's subordinates went to rest.

And Caenis closed her eyes, thinking.

Is this monster strong?

Strong, but not that strong. At least it let some people escape back.

If its strength was sufficient, it would be impossible for any survivors to escape.

Caenis felt that she herself could have done a better job than this monster.

As for it deliberately letting people go to lure others over? Caenis entertained this thought for a moment then dismissed the possibility.

"Even if it has intelligence, it's impossible for it to know the specific situation in Okhema, let alone clearly recognize who people are. It might have the idea of fishing, but it should only be waiting for a little while. And it's been several days since my subordinates escaped; the monster couldn't possibly wait this long."

After calculating the situation, Caenis found that these circumstances were all within a controllable range.

Since that was the case...

She slowly stood up, then left the Elder Council area and walked towards the Okhema urban district.

She was now going to find Anaxa and share this news with him.
