"Go check it out, or can you even fail to do something so simple?" Hearing Antony's mockery, Diana could only cover her snuffles and make her way to the door, masking the marks on her body with her robes.
Checking through the eye-hole, she was bothered seeing that it was covered by black duct tape. "I don't think that I should open the door, what if we get robbed?" Pointing out her worry however Antony didn't see it through the way she did.
Rising to his feet, he brandished a small black gun, one of the few advantages that he had over Diana and making her complicit to his demands.
"Ahh!" As he rudely pushed her out of the way, he unlocked the locks and opened the door only to be meet with an individual he vaguely remembered. "Who are you?" He posed, his face showing a look of irritation.
*Snap*
The individual he was looking at snapped the gloves on his hands, similar to a surgeon who was about to start an operation. "Where's Diana?" He posed, his obsidian eyes already looking where she might be.
"Who the fuck are you?!" Ready to put this pointless conversation to an end, he lunged at Antony by jabbing him in the throat, making him voice an ugly groan as he backed away giving him access.
It was because of that that sparked Antony's anger and aimed the gun at Andrew. "Just who do you think you are? Barging in like you own the place?! Oh! Bitch! Is this one of your former lovers or what?! But don't you think he seems a little young for your taste?!"
Diana who was still on the ground glanced at the individual who barged in. "Andrew?! What are you doing here?!" Her question however went unanswered as Andrew drew closer to Antony.
Cocking the gun, he aimed it at Andrew's forehead, his movements a little shaky. "Stay the hell away from me or don't you know what this is?!" Andrew however seemed unfazed as he glanced at Diana.
"Anthony, right? Some small time dealer working for one of the major operatives if shipping drugs in the city, The Bolos. You killed a man once before due to necessity of the moment and in a frantic. Dropped out of school when you were eighteen and resorting to your illicit act."
"Your parents consider you a failure and the car that you have isn't exactly yours. Stole it from your parents or in your mind borrowed it. They know you did it but they never bothered pressing charges."
"I can tell with how you're holding that gun that you don't have that much practice with it." Andrew concluded as he glanced at Anthony who was panicking. "But how?! Who really are you?!" Andrew wasn't planning on answering that question as he lunged at him once more.
Taken aback by his advances, Anthony flinched, making him shoot his gun but Andrew saw which direction he'd shoot given how fluid his body moved.
In a short moves, he was able to unarm Anthony who resorted to a physical brawl.
*Bam-Bam-Bam*
Without holding any punches, Andrew make quick work of Anthony who fell unconscious with a nose bleed. After that, he went over to the sink and poured in a glass of water and handed it to Diana.
Crouching down to her level, she was baffled with the feats Andrew was able to accomplish. "I..." At a loss for words, she accepted the glass he handed to her as he brought out his phone before putting it back.
[{7:20 p.m}]
"The reason as to why you accepted him to begin with was because of his money but the moment you became addicted to drugs, you couldn't stop yourself." Diana was highly skeptical of Andrew. How he knew where they lived, how he knew to fight like that and how he knew Anthony's life.
However before she could bring herself to her knees, she felt her head grow heavy and before she knew it, she fell unconscious. A couple of minutes later, some paramedics arrived at the scene only to be met with an open door and two unconscious individuals.
As for Andrew, he was already on his way back home.
...
[{8:00 p.m}]
Lucy was starting to grow a little worried about Andrew. 'Maybe I should call his phone-'
*Ding*
Hearing the front door chime, she went to look and there he was, one hand behind the other with a small smile on his face. "Hello, mum. I got you these." With his other hand, he brandished a fresh bouquet of flowers.
"Oh... Andrew!" Admiring the roses before her mind recalled where he was. "Wait! Where have you been?" She posed as the two walked in the house. "I was out to help Diana. She was involved in a little accident but nothing too major to worry about."
"Diana? Her relationship with her mother hasn't gotten any better. So where is she?" Lucy gave a light sigh.
"At the hospital but don't worry, I've already told Miss Clara." He added on as he took a seat on the dining table. "If so then I'm sure you were able to take care of it. Dinner's ready." She added on, trying to lift the mood of the air.
Andrew went on with his meal, 'bland' was his conclusion before heading upstairs. Bringing out his laptop from his bag, he went online and after a few minutes, he shut it down and slept.
...
Waking up the following day, Lucy who turned on the television was bombarded with strange news. Very piece of media had the same running idea.
"It would seem that the Bolos, one of the four drug lord families has been dealt with by the forces. Could you elaborate further captain Hugh?"
One of the interviewees asked the captain who was on the platform. "Yes of course. It would seem that an anonymous tip was sent to the precinct last night. We have yet to discover who it was but he or she was able to relay heavily incriminating evidence against the Bolos family."
"Let this serve as a reminder to anyone who partakes in illicit activities. Your actions will be brought to the light of day sooner or later. No one is above the law. Thank you." Lucy was shocked that such a family was put away.
'They were actually capable of catching the Bolos family?' She had heard tales of nor just that but the other families as well. How they were poisoning the city but they kept on running their operations regardless.
Some attributed this to mean that the cops were bought off leaving the citizens to fend off for themselves but now, there was some ray of light in this dark world. Andrew made his way down, already aware of what was on the news and how could he not.
"I'm off to the clinic." He mused after taking breakfast. "But it's Saturday. Isn't it closed?" Lucy posed. "Well yes but Juliette messaged me to head there and let me know of what I'm suppose to do." Lucy gave an acknowledging sigh as she let him take his leave.
Arriving at the clinic, he went round the back and knocked for it it be opened by Juliette. "Who is there! Oh Andrew, you're here." She mused gleefully as she let him in. "I'm so sorry, I forgot to tell you to come to the back but I guess you already figured that out."
As the two made their way inside, Andrew was met with a boat load of boxes that were lying all over the floor however he made sure to avoid stepping on them and made their way to the counter. Given that it was closed, it was calm and peaceful.
With the rays permeating through the translucent glass lighting up the place. "This might come of as a crummy excuse to have you here but I need your help with those boxes but that won't be so easy. After that, we'll have to spruce up the place a bit."
Taking notes of Andrew's expression, nothing was given away to her. Not an expression of frustration, anger or happiness at the slightest. "Sure. I'll take care of the boxes and you'll take care of the clinic."
"It's not that easy. First deal with the clinic then you'll come help me with the boxes." Juliette mused as she went back to the back leaving Andrew with the mop and the bucket of water. It only took him a matter of minutes to finish it, given he knew what he was doing, it took even less time to do it.
He did it all, from cleaning the floors, wiping the windows and seats. Reshuffling the shelves to get rid of any dust that would be there and finishing it all off with a freshener making the place both appealing and pleasant to be in.
"Do you need help with your task?" Juliette asked given Andrew was here. She had yet to make any form of progress with the boxes as she had just opened her first box out of the twelve that were present.
"I'm done. I'm here to help you." Juliette was skeptical that he was done but looking at his work, he truly was done and added in a bit extra. "But how? Nevermind, just help me with the boxes."
The two went to the back and before any progress could be made, Juliette's phone could be heard ringing. Following that, she took her leave, haphazardly explaining what he had to do.
Inspecting the boxes, each had a set of items. Be it syringes, medicine or clinical equipment.
*Thirty minutes later*
"I'm so sorry that I was fine for so long but..." Glancing at Andrew who was on his phone only to look in her direction. "I'm done." He mused with a small smile which elicited a small sigh from her. "But did you do it right is the question?"
She puffed, ready to revel in his mistake however looking at it, she couldn't find any fault with his work. "You really did it. At this point it was pointless to have even bothered you with instructions."
"Your rent is due isn't it?" Changing the subject so rapidly caught her off guard. "What?" To which he repeated his earlier statement which she agreed to. "Yes. Were you spying on me?"
"A look of disapproval flashed on her face." Andrew however remained the same. "I could help with your mother's case as well for a small exchange." Her eyes bore into Andrew's only to be met with a calm a d dead gaze.
'How does he know about my mother?' She backed away from him. "What? How do you know any of this?" Andrew added in as if he didn't hear what she had just said. "A hundred thousand dollars should cover it, right?"
She felt silent upon hearing this. She knew what he was talking about but what shocked her was as to how he came to know about it.
