Rachel chuckled.
She didn't actually believe Jeffrey could give her the kind of life she wanted, but she didn't want to crush his pride.
So she smiled and said, "Alright, alright. I'll wait for the day when Jeffrey makes tons of money and takes care of me. Then I can just relax and be lazy."
"Deal," he replied, a flicker of determination flashing in his deep, dark eyes.
If that's what she wanted, then he'd make sure she could live that kind of carefree life, forever.
The next day, Finn went into the break room and overheard a few coworkers chatting.
"Did you see President Jeffrey's sweater today?"
"No, why?"
"It looks like one of those sweaters that's all over online stores lately."
"No way. President Jeffrey wearing something like that?"
"I know, right? Maybe it's one of those designer knock-offs or something? Still, it looked really good on him. I kinda want to get one for my husband too."
"Hey, send me the link to that sweater later."
Finn kind of froze when he heard that and quietly left the break room.
He didn't have the heart to tell them that President Jeffrey's sweater really was one of those trendy online ones.
He'd even seen another coworker wearing the exact same one earlier today.
President Jeffrey didn't seem bothered at all.
He just glanced at the guy, but the poor dude looked like he'd seen a ghost, totally shook that his boss had the same sweater as him.
Finn returned to the president's office and saw Jeffrey at his desk. He'd taken off his suit jacket and was reading some documents.
The popular sweater made him look kinda softer, like he had a scholarly vibe. Definitely less scary than usual.
Finn guessed this was probably Rachel's doing.
Normally, before coming to the office, Master Jeffrey would change out of whatever he wore at his tiny rented apartment.
But today, he hadn't even bothered to change.
What did that even mean?
And how long was Master Jeffrey planning to keep commuting from that tiny place every single day?
Those were the kinds of questions Finn didn't dare ask.
"Master Jeffrey, here's the acquisition proposal you asked for," Finn said, placing the documents on his desk.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, Jeffrey suddenly spoke.
"Did you know Ralph from the Patel Family has been putting up a bunch of holographic ads around the city for Celeste?"
Finn blinked. He hadn't expected his boss to bring that up.
"Yeah… I know."
"How many of those holographic ads are in the city?" Jeffrey asked again.
"There should be 99," Finn said.
He remembered seeing an interview where Ralph mentioned there were 99 holograms, each representing a lifetime of love.
That statement used to be cherished by a ton of Celeste's fans.
Celeste was super popular now in the entertainment industry, with a huge fanbase.
"Remove them all," Jeffrey ordered.
"All of them?" Finn was surprised.
"All of them," Jeffrey confirmed.
"Alright, I'll take care of it," Finn replied.
Master Jeffrey suddenly wanted to remove the Patel Family's hologram ads.
Did the Patel Family or the Howard Family offend him? Or did he just not support their alliance anymore?
But he had accepted the invitation to the Patel and Howard families' engagement party before.
Finn was really confused.
Then a thought hit him.
Could it be because of… Rachel? That idea shocked even himself.
Would Master Jeffrey really go this far for a woman? Would he go against both the Patel and Howard families just for her?
Even for Camila, the woman who was supposed to be his wife, he never did something this extreme.
He'd never offended business partners like this for anyone.
What exactly did Rachel mean to him? Finn honestly couldn't figure it out.

Danielle stood in the hotel corridor, staring at the man in front of her.
He was in a suit, looking handsome and smart, kind of like a scholar. "Brother-in-law… oh wait, I know, I shouldn't call you that anymore. You and my sister are over now."
The Patel Family Group was about to produce a big-budget film.
When Danielle heard the news, she found out Ralph would be dining at this hotel and grabbed the chance to see him.
Since Rachel refused to beg Ralph herself, Danielle had no choice but to come instead.
When Ralph heard the word "sister," he was stunned for a second.
His mind instantly replayed the moment from a few days ago at the club, Rachel.
Even though she was once the woman he loved, she almost dragged the Patel Family down with her.
If he hadn't broken up with her in time, and if the Howard Family hadn't stepped in, the Patel Family could've been reduced to a third-rate company by now.
That day, she was wearing a sanitation worker's vest, looking totally disheveled.
He never would've imagined that the proudest, most talented rookie lawyer would end up like that, just a lowly cleaner, fresh out of prison.
He remembered how she crawled to him, her nails ripped out, insisting she was innocent.
For a second, he actually wanted to believe her.
But with so much evidence and so many witnesses against her, how could she still claim to be innocent?
Even at the end, she just wouldn't admit her guilt!
"You know it well," Ralph said coldly.
But Danielle, shameless as ever, kept going, "Well… right now, my family can only count on me. I'm hoping to land some big roles to make enough money to support them. But I have no background, and my sister's been in prison. It's super hard for me to get any good roles."
She tried to sound as miserable as possible, hoping Ralph would feel bad for her.
But his face stayed cold as ice.
Still, Danielle kept pushing. "My sister used to be really successful. I just can't stand seeing her like this. I want to earn more money to give her a better life. I don't know if you, brother-in-law—"
"Who are you calling brother-in-law?" A voice suddenly cut her off.
A woman in a stylish brown coat walked up. She gave Danielle a mocking look and sneered, "I was wondering who it was. Turns out it's the murderer's sister."
Danielle's face turned pale in an instant.
She recognized her right away, it was Celeste, Ralph's fiancée.
