Little Mei's eyes widened as she watched yet another stunningly handsome man come to see Qin Jie up close.
Qin Jie had the chance to observe the man closely because she had followed him. Qin Cha never expected Shang Jue to show up again.
After what she said to him last time, he should have known better than to appear in front of her again in this lifetime.
It seemed this man had a thick skin and was just asking for trouble by coming to see her. "I'm busy," she said, holding the script and refusing coldly without looking up.
Shang Jue sneered and roughly grabbed Qin Cha, dragging her away in a forceful manner. "I said I'm busy, are you deaf?" Qin Cha's expression turned icy as she slapped Shang Jue's hand hard, leaving a red mark instantly.
"Qin Cha, don't try to provoke me," Shang Jue warned coldly. He was already upset with his grandfather and had no patience left, especially not for Qin Cha's acting.
"What I said is the truth. If you can't stand it, then just leave. Do you think I want to deal with you?" Little Mei didn't expect the handsome man and Qin Jie to start fighting as soon as they met.
She felt the atmosphere getting more and more tense and worried Qin Jie would get hurt. Little Mei anxiously stood in front of Qin Jie.
"Qin Jie, should we call the police?" Qin Cha shook her head slightly. Making a big deal out of it wouldn't help her.
Li, the assistant, noticed Shang Jue was getting angry. He looked around and saw more and more people gathering.
They were on set, and if the paparazzi caught a picture of Shang Jue, it would be a problem. He looked at Shang Jue carefully, then walked over to Qin Cha.
"Madam, please don't be angry. The old master has returned, and he said he wouldn't take his medicine if he couldn't see you. Mr. Shang is only acting this way because he's angry. Please come with us to see the old master," the assistant said.
Hearing this, Qin Cha's expression softened a little. The only person in the Shang family who had treated her sincerely was the old master.
But because of his poor health in recent years, he often went abroad for treatment.
Since the old master had returned, he must have recovered somewhat. If she had caused his condition to get worse, Qin Cha would feel guilty.
She knew the old master would protect her, so after some thought, she nodded and said, "Okay, I'll go with you."
Everything was clear now. Seeing that Madam had agreed, Li, the assistant, secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "Shall we go now, Madam?" he asked.
This scene could no longer be filmed.
Qin Cha glared fiercely at Shang Jue. He was a stumbling block in her career, and she wanted to kick him away.
She turned to Xiao Mei and told her to take care of the rest of the scene and that the vice president would find someone to replace her.
Shang Jue coldly glanced at her and got into the car first.
Qin Cha finished giving Xiao Mei instructions and then followed him into the car.
Shang Jue saw that Qin Cha was wearing tattered clothes and spoke in a tone that was both indifferent and mocking, "Miss Qin is really busy with a lot of things."
Knowing that Shang Jue was obsessed with cleanliness, Qin Cha heard the disdain and sarcasm in his words and sneered.
She remembered how she had to brush her teeth twice before she could kiss his face, and how she had to shower and wash her hair before getting into his car.
Who was indulging his bad habits now?
If he couldn't stand it, he could chase after her. It wasn't like she was begging to follow him.
If he didn't hurry, then he could just stay disgusting.
Seeing Qin Cha's indifferent and arrogant attitude, Shang Jue's eyes darkened.
"When we see Grandpa later, you know what to say and what not to say."
If Qin Cha dared to make Grandpa sick with anger, he would never let her go.
Qin Cha sneered, unafraid and sarcastic. "What? All bark and no bite? But don't worry, I don't have time to talk about your pathetic affairs and disgust people."
After a few days, Qin Cha's mouth became even sharper.
Shang Jue's anger, which he had barely held back, surged up again. "Qin Cha, don't forget that you're the one who wants a divorce!"
Seeing him angry, Qin Cha no longer felt humble or self-blaming as before. She casually retorted, "Rest assured, Mr. Shang, I remember that I was the one who initiated it. After all, I don't want you anymore."
Shang Jue's lips tightened, and his gaze looked like he wanted to devour her alive.
Ignoring his anger, Qin Cha leaned back in her comfortable chair and maliciously rubbed her dirty hands everywhere.
Time passed quickly. In a few days, it would be the end of the month, and as soon as the cooling-off period was over, she would go to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
She really couldn't wait any longer.
In the front row, Li, the assistant, kept sweating nervously. He was afraid Shang Jue and his wife would start fighting any second.
The torturous journey finally reached its destination. Li couldn't wait to escape from the suffocating space.
After Qin Cha got out of the car, she entered the villa with ease and familiarity.
The servants looked at their former mistress in surprise, seeing her dressed in strange and shabby clothes.
Did she really live such a miserable life after leaving Mr. Shang?
"Xiao Cha."
As soon as Mr. Shang saw Qin Cha, his stern expression immediately softened into a loving smile.
"Grandpa Shang."
Qin Cha knew her place and greeted him with a gentle smile. But adding the "Shang" subtly distanced them.
She had cut ties with Shang Jue, and it was clear.
As he approached, Mr. Shang noticed Qin Cha's ragged clothes and her once cute face now dirty and worn, a clear sign of the hardships she had endured.
Mr. Shang sighed heavily, feeling sorry for her. "Xiao Cha, it's all grandpa's fault. I couldn't protect you and let you suffer."
Qin Cha realized Mr. Shang had misunderstood her and waved her hand, trying to explain. She didn't want to be seen as pitiful.
"Grandpa, you've got it wrong…"
Before Qin Cha could finish, she heard a sharp voice.
"Dad, she's just a lowly country girl. This is the life she was supposed to live. Being with Shang Jue was already a step up for her. Now she has the nerve to come to the Shang family's house? Shameless."
The speaker was Shang Jue's aunt. Qin Cha looked over and saw that not only was Shang Jue's aunt there, but also Mrs. Shang.
Thinking of the days when Mrs. Shang had treated her harshly and almost caused her to lose her precious child, Qin Cha narrowed her eyes, cold as frost.
She hadn't wanted to come here today, and now it seemed those two had found a way to use it against her.
Mr. Shang didn't bother with Shang Jue's aunt and sternly questioned Shang Jue, "Did you really not give Xiao Cha a single penny?"
It seemed Old Master Shang wanted to give Qin Cha a large sum of money, but Shang Jue immediately objected, "Dad, Qin Cha had the best food, clothing, and living conditions after marrying into the Shang family. Moreover, she enjoyed a level of wealth and status she would never have had in her lifetime. Her divorce is just a return to her original life, and she didn't leave us with any children. Why should we give her money? It doesn't make sense; she still owes the Shang family."
Qin Cha looked at her with interest.
Enjoyment?
At the Shang family, she not only did things below the servants, but she also never spent a penny she shouldn't have.
These past three years were the most miserable days of her life. Apparently, in their eyes, whether she enjoyed it or not, she was still taking advantage of them.
