Luna
Slowly kneeling down by the brush as the two managed to sneak through the wall's defenses to this spot. It was a back servant entrance meant for preparing for parades. Large and leading to a narrow causeway they could use to sneak by the wall and into the city.
The only issue was yet another towering horse and knight stood in their way. This time, it had dragon bone armor by the look of it, and a club made from the ripped out talon of such a beast.
"This is getting ridiculous.." she mumbled with a twitch of her eye.
"They are quite a reliable guard... A fact I am now regretting." Her lover admitted.
"Well, we sanctified the grace nearby. It should be good to give it a try." Standing up, placing her hand on the hilt of her scythe. She had replaced the metal head with a sharpened bone ripped off one of the dragons they had felled on the way. The blade lightly crackled with a low and ominous blue glow.
Marika stood up beside her, one hand tightly gripping her new seal while the other gripped tightly to her own newer weapon. A large and heavy hammer that resembled the blown up weapon of a smith, close to the shape of her prior tool of creation. It felt good in her hands, and the weight made her feel more certain and grounded.
Luna smiled, sharing a soft kiss between them before both separated quickly and began to form a pincer attack toward the mounted guard.
He raised his great club from his shoulder as his horse neighed powerfully and launched a massive blast of fire toward the knight. A roll aside and three small daggers that had been dragged through a manure field they had passed quickly made the horse cough and choke. Rapidly swelling up the throat, it likely wouldn't fire anymore of that.
Marika was rushing much faster at them and dipping aside just as the mounted guard smashed his massive club down upon her, cracking the ground like shattered glass around it. Swinging a holy charged hammer at the knight's forearm resulted in a dissatisfying ding as her hammer bounced off the hardened bone plate. "Sh -" she barely got out before the club swung up, catching her in the chest with a spit of blood as she was launched several meters.
She was caught easily by her knight who smashed a small vial down, bathing both in smoke briefly as the guard tried to capitalize and charge. He ran right through empty smoke to the sound of a fuse, before his horse screamed through its throat as its legs and armor lit up as oil splashed followed by burning hot flames as the pot trap beneath them exploded in sections.
"Gotcha." The knight smirked as she set down Marika while she cast a small healing incantation. Both were struck silent when a bolt of pure red lightning crashed through the smoke and blasted it away to charge the guard's club with dragon lightning. "Well, that's new."
Marika dove to the side before her knight who took the first blast of lightning right to the head, before being launched like a golf ball by the charging guard as they smacked them with their electrically charged club that made them crash against the closed gate.
The golden queen turned and began to chant to herself as she watched the guard charge at her knight. Her knight was still wobbling back to her feet, but that was perfect. Just as the guard would have made an impact, her knight vanished beside her in a brief burst of light as the guard crashed right into the door with a terribly painful crunch. Both could see the horse's armor bent and buckle around it in ways that likely meant its life was over, but the guard himself stood back up with a delirious grumble of pain. Alive but disoriented.
"That was a neat trick."
"Right? Just finished that one last night."
"... You used untested magic on me?"
"Oh have faith lover."
"We both know that isn't my style." As she ran towards the guard.
More lightning began to crackle and crash around him as the guard refound his footing. Gripping the club in two hands as his shield had been crushed, he roared through his bizarre cage-like helmet as he leaped into the air and came down with the force of a lightning strike.
The knight barely dodged, still struck by the aftershocks in the air that made her skin feel numb. She slashed, hooking her scythe through the chinks in the armor plating and wrenching back violently as a pauldron tore off along with a vicious spray of blood.
The guard swatted at the much smaller knight as he struggled to once more heft the massive club, swinging it in a large arc with one hand as lightning ripped up the slanted hill of soil towards the knight as part of her leg got singed by a bolt. Persevering as she felt the glow of Marika's incantations bolstering her strength, she retaliated with a heavy swipe following the guard's throw fist that tore a line across the guard's old, dried face as the helmet launched away.
"Now I have you!" She shouted, leaping up behind the briefly stunned guard as she held the scythe tightly with both hands. Preparing to take a heavy swipe, she was caught mid jump by a surging fireball as it crashed against a tree. The horse let out one final choked cough, before falling limp.
The guard roared angrily as he saw his companion die, lightning blasting and boiling through his body as the very air around him became ionized with crackling fury. He turned towards the knight who had finished the last of her flask and began a dreadful march upon her.
Luna gulped and took one step back, gripping back to her scythe as she ripped it from the tree. "Bout time you took me seriously."
The guard only growled as thick blood leaked across his stretched face like dried leather on bone. He swung down again, beginning a battle of half deflects and dodges as the two warriors dueled and clashed with near misses and bleeding slices.
Marika knew that her knight favored these tactics, a distraction while she prepared powerful incantations, but she just could not stand by. She ran up behind the guard, waiting for a rather committed strike before screaming as she put all her strength into a powerful swing. She felt the hammer respond, strangely. It glowed without incantation like thousands of cracks across it, and hit the guard in the back with an eruption of powerful light surging out of his skin like a cross stitch of searing light. He stumbled, pained and his back nearly broken as her swing had not only buckled his armor, but outright shattered it.
The guard tried to turn and swing on this new offender just as the hook of the scythe curled around his throat. "Never take your eyes off me." Before a wet slice rang out, followed by a heavy crash onto muddy soil.
