Kuro and Amasa tracked down the scent of the rodent they had picked up on in the previous chapter, Kuro used the trees as platforms to leap across the forest while Amasa slithered through gaps and past obstacles thanks to his size, he was able to travel much faster then a normal snake, from a far, it looked as if two pairs of eyes were approaching quickly, one pair ocean blue while the other blood red, as if it were an angel and a demon racing towards a soul.
Once the two arrived to the source of the scent, they only found mud and tracks left behind from multiple rodents, the tracks went everywhere, getting a true direction was too difficult for the two, so they resorted to scent once again, trying to pinpoint even the faintest scent left from the rodents, Amasa was the one to find a lead and had slithered away without warning, Kuro, seeing this, followed him, knowing that he either found the rodents or something worth the time to kill, to her shock, he had led them straight to a sleeping wyvern, upon closer inspection however, they saw a small rodent resting right next to the wyvern.
"We can take those on, right?", "Maybe?", "Maybe?", "I'm not sure, doofus, but if you want to try, you're more than welcome to."
With that, he leaped onto the wyvern, wrapping his body around its wings to ensure it could not fly away, while doing so, he had sneakily eaten the rat that was next to the wyvern. The wyvern had been woken up due to the sudden attack on it, caught of guard, it roared, the sound of its roar pierced Amasa's ears, momentarily stunning him, while he was in that state, the wyvern bit into his body and prayed him off, it followed up on this action and threw his body away before spreading its wings, Kuro leaped over Amasa and bit onto the wyverns left wing and used her hind legs to rip the wing, it bit onto her nape, aiming to crush it and kill her with one attack, but Amasa bit onto its belly, causing it great pain, it roared, dropping Kuro, whose neck was bloodied from the close call, but she had no time to relax, the wyvern had charged a fire ball too fast, even Amasa was astonished by this, he knew that a wyvern could only charge a fire ball in twenty or fifteen seconds, this wyvern had just done it in under 5 seconds.
The fire ball was sent out, crashing into the ground near Amasa, forcing him to withdraw, he slithered to Kuro's side, "You good?", "Yeah, close call. Did you poison it?", "No. Couldn't figure it out, we're lucky I figured out how to draw out my fangs.", "Learned in the middle of combat?", "Yeah. It's not too hard to do it, just have to stretch out my mouth, the injecting venom part is difficult.", "You'll figure it out.", "Thankfully you wrecked its wing. It can't fly around now", "Yeah, but those fire balls are a problem.", "The real fight starts now.", "What do you mean?" Just as Kuro asked, the Wyvern let out an ear piercing roar once again, this time it was angered, black smoke trailed out of its nostrils, its eyes locked onto the duo, it focused more on Amasa, knowing that his movement was limited made him the first target.
The wyvern charged at him, a fire ball already formed in its mouth as it charged to him, know that dodging was out of the question, he whipped his tail around, the wyvern jumped over his tail and shot out the fireball, a splash of water doused the attack, when Amasa looked over to where the water came from, he saw Kuro with another water jet in her mouth, he didn't expect to see such a sight, nor the fact that she used water, he had expected fire out of her the whole time due to her personality, thanks to his idiotic move of not paying attention, the wyvern stomped on his head, its weight pushed down on his skull, however, he wanted the wyvern to get close, taking the opportunity, he wrapped his tail around the wyverns other leg, at the same time, Kuro had shot the jet of water at the wyvern, the combined efforts of the two led to the beast falling over.
However what they didn't expect, was for it to roll over and back onto its legs, this forced Amasa into the motion and he ended up back in the same position he was in just a second before, but he couldn't feel the pain thanks to being left stunned at what just happened, Kuro was in a similar state, both couldn't believe what just happened, the wyvern simply huffed, it knew what it just did and knew it was something other wyverns couldn't do, it thought back to what it did, before it fell it had tucked its wings and let gravity help.
Kuro snapped out of her thoughts and rushed towards the wyvern, it reacted just as fast, charging another fireball and just kept its head facing her, this was enough to keep her at bay for a bit, but it knew that wouldn't hold her for too long so instead, it directed its attack to Amasa, who was still thinking about what just happened. The heat of the fireball aimed to his head woke him up, he immediately pulled the leg his tail was wrapped around, this caused it to stumble off of him and fire the fireball at the ground, missing both him and Kuro. She used the moment it stumbled to attack again, jumping onto its back, she bit into its neck.
Amasa aided by wrapping his body around its legs and wings, rendering it immobile, it struggled to get itself free, letting out loud roars in an attempt to either scare them off or call for backup, but noticed that the rodent was missing, turns out that the rodent was the backup the Wyvern was calling for, it used the rodent as a distraction at times like this, but seeing that it has vanished, it accepted its defeat, but Kuro suddenly jumped off.
"What's the issue!", "I can't get through its scales. You have to do it.", "Fine." The wyvern struggled a lot more, unsure of why the panther had stopped its advance, it knew that nothing good would come from her actions. Amasa opened his mouth, but froze, he thought, 'instead of eating the wyvern, why not make it hunt for them?' With that in mind, he started chanting the beast contract spell, though he wasn't sure if it would work while he himself was a beast, to his surprise and convenience, it worked. Kuro couldn't even utter a single word while that happened. And just like that, a new member was added to their party.
The wyvern, who was forced into this, was left confused. "What the hell was that!", "Relax, Boba. It'll hunt for us.", "That's not what I mean! How the hell did they work! You are a beast! And beasts can't tame beasts!", "I mean. A human has maids.", "That's a different case!", "Humans are animals too.", "I quit. I'll be in the cave.", "Bye, Boba.", "AND STOP CALLING ME THAT!", "hehe." He looked down to his new companion who was still extremely confused, analysing its injuries, he knew just the medicine to aid it, a few minutes later, a mixture of leaves turned into liquid was placed on the wyverns wounds, it just sat there, still confused.
"Ok. You can understand me, yes?", the wyvern nodded slowly, "great, I am now your master, if you do not follow my orders, or try to go against me, I will end you. Got it.", the wyvern stared at him for a second or two before nodding, knowing that something was off about this snake, "Wonderful. Now then, I am hungry, can you hunt in your current state?", the wyvern nodded, "Good. Go and bring us something to eat. Follow my scent if you want to find me." With that the wyvern went away, due to its wing injury, it couldn't fly away, Amasa smiled and went back to his cave, happy that he was able to tame a unique wyvern, seeing that Kuro was already, he too went to sleep, wrapping around his own body and used himself as a pillow
