Chapter 30 - Escaping Crisis... Waking up...

"Rewind!"

"Pause!"

Kranos forcefully activated two Rank Two time skills in rapid succession. The backlash was immediate—he felt his body crack like fragile glass under immense pressure. Pain erupted from countless points as though his very body frame might shatter. If not for his tempered physique, he was certain he would have been annihilated on the spot.

I have to take this moment before i lose my consciousness to kill it! Kranos immediately took out Eternal Hunger the moment time was rewound.

Kranos unsheathed his Time Sword. As soon as time paused, he swung it with decisive force—slicing through the Gu worm and destroying it. Fortunately, the Gu worm wasn't strong and seemed to have no fighting capabilities. if now Kranos didn't know how he would have survived this.

With the last remnants of his strength, he returned the Time Sword to his system storage. His vision blurred rapidly as darkness consumed him.

The little boy was stunned; one moment Kranos was about to sit down the next moment Kranos was injured. He only saw Kranos crashing on the floor with a loud thud; the sound caused him to regain his thoughts as he immediately ran to Kranos.

"god, god, you…" seeing that Kranos wasn't responding, the boy started blaming himself. Without wasting another moment, he sprinted out of the house toward the village chief's home, ignoring the stares from villagers who now looked at him as if he were a stranger. The boy had completely forgotten that he had changed completely and he looked a little different from the others.

Within minutes, he reached the village head's house. The old man sat reclining in a wooden chair, basking in the sunlight. The boy dashed toward him, shouting breathlessly, "Grandpa Old Man! Something terrible has happened!"

The village head turned to look at the little boy; the next moment he stood up in shock. "Jo... Jonah? What happened to you?! How didn't you get healed?"

"It was one white-haired boy that cured me, but the next moment after he cured me, he was injured, and… and… i don't know what happened to him." Jonah began crying amidst his words.

The elder's expression darkened. White-haired boy... it must be him. Kranos. No one else matched the description.

"Take me to him. Now."

The boy heeded the elder's words; his sobbing stopped and he hastily took the elder to Kranos house. They took a few minutes before reaching there. As soon as the elder entered, his eyes immediately locked on the motionless figure sprawled on the ground. He leaned forward to examine him.

Under his scrutiny, he noticed several cracks on Kranos' body that had dyed his body red; it was as though the space he was in was forcefully squeezed. Taking out an ointment from his robe, the elder began applying it on Kranos. After checking and making sure that Kranos had only just fainted, the elder heaved a sigh of relief. he then turned to the little boy.

"Tell me, what happened? Why are you healed?" the elder asked sternly.

"I saw him walking down the street then i came and gave him a piece of bread…" the boy began narrating the events that transpired. After he finished, the elder narrowed his eyes, pondering something. He glanced at the boy and saw that nothing was wrong. even after cross-checking, he couldn't help but be shocked.

Is he a healer? The elder couldn't find words to describe Kranos after all. even the experts of this world were helpless in the face of the curruption, the village head knew that they had tried but at the end of every cleansing, the person who conducted the process would be corrupted as well.

Could he be corrupted as well? The elder's frown deepened as he stared at Kranos, "we'll have to wait for him to regain consciousness before coming to any conclusions." after the elder finished muttering, he turned to Jonah, "you will stay here with him and watch over him. Once it's dark, seal the house. don't leave home so you won't be corrupted again, okay?" the elder reprimanded sternly.

Even though Jonah was just twelve, he could understand the severity of the situation; he immediately nodded. When the elder was done, he left the hut. Outside, some elderly, burly, and young men were curious about the situation.

They had just seen Jonah enter into Kranos' house infected only to come out a few moments later healed. They couldn't help but be curious: was there finally a way for them to be healed? Seeing the crowd of people as he came out, the elder began addressing them.

"Everyone, nothing is absolute yet; wait a few days and we'll know the results." the elder didn't want to speak with certainty yet; after all, he didn't know whether Kranos was infected as well. If he gave them hope and it went down the drain, they would truly believe they were hopeless beyond saving.

Three days passed in tense silence. The village head came to apply ointment on Kranos every morning and evening. It was only on the third day that Kranos regained his consciousness. As soon as his vision came back, the first person he saw was Jonah sitting at the door staring at the villagers.

Kranos almost let out a groan as soon as he stood up. he noticed that his body wasn't fully healed yet. i really need to break through to a higher body cultivation realm to offset the side effects of using rank 2 time abilities! Kranos thought as he took out a healing pill from his time space before placing it in his mouth. Feeling the cool sensation flow through his body, Kranos began studying where he was.

Where exactly am i? As soon as Kranos had this thought, memories of what had happened flooded into his mind. A Gu worm?So that is the cause of everyone's predicament? Kranos thought inwardly but soon shook his head. If it was truly a gu worm it wouldn't choose to possess a host; it's more like the creature created Gu worms to control the corruption in people's body, the closer the Gu worms are to each other, the faster the corruption spreads to other organs. Kranos felt he had touched upon the truth of the matter.

Feeling that his body had gotten better, he walked towards Jonah, who wasn't paying attention; his thoughts seemed to have drifted far away. Seeing the lively villagers despite knowing that death was imminent, Kranos felt a certain sensation. he smiled lightly. "quite a nice view, right?"

"go… god! You're finally awake!"
