Genevieve began as he pressed the button and waited for the doors to open, "I don't need to ask what's going on here because I recognize a casino, even if I don't fully understand the games. But I do have to ask... earlier, you said that what I saw upstairs was the mildest thing here. A casino doesn't exactly look worse than a..." she trailed off, as Alejandro suddenly shushed her, guiding her into the elevator with firm urgency.
She barely had time to process his reaction when, through the narrowing gap of the closing doors, she caught sight of a man collapsing to the floor.
"W—wait," she stammered, her heart hammering. "Did I just see..."
"No, you didn't," Alejandro cut in flatly. "You only think you did."
Genevieve's pulse quickened, but before she could press further, his tone shifted back to nonchalance. "Back to what we were talking about, you asked why I would want to teach you. Do you want the sugar-coated version or the plain truth?"
