I blinked. "I didn't mean…"
"I said don't." His voice dropped lower, rougher.
'Okay, that's weird. You've been touching me all this while and you ain't mad at that. What a hypocrite!'
Before I could say anything else, a young scout burst through the crowd, drenched and panting.
"Alpha! Rogues… north… we were attacked!"
"What about Theo? Didn't he take care of them?"
"Yes, but the rogues are too many. They keep coming." The scout's voice came clearer than before, and his breathing had calmed down a little.
Damon's jaw clenched, a deep growl reverberating from his chest. His body began to ripple as fur appeared over him. His claws elongated. He couldn't believe the audacity of the rogues—how dare they attack his pack? His grey eyes glinted with anger.
Just as he was about to transform, a soft, calm voice cut through the chaos.
"It's already handled."
Everyone turned to the direction the voice was coming from.
