Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Hitting level 40

Alan stood at the centre of the formation. With tanks and close range damage dealers in front.

The behaviour of such a horde is typically common. The cannon fodders attack in the front and the elite/leader type stays in the back while giving out attacks or wide range debuffs now and then.

The leader type could also coordinate the minions attack thanks to their high intelligence. So things could get tricky if things dragged on.

Alan's task here was to attack the two leader types and make them lose focus. Like this the minions will be disoriented and attacking them would be easy.

Since the lizards were primarily fire type, Alan had decided not to use fire element attacks and waste his time and mana. They were resistant to fire element attacks and although Alan used fire element attacks previously the damage output was not satisfactory to him.

So he only used his space element to attack. Even then his damage was too high thanks to the profundity of the space element. Even the lizard's regeneration ability was crippled when he used his attacks.

Alan focussed his damage on the two leader types. As they got agitated they ordered several minions to attack Alan but being at the center of the formation, getting past the tanks and damage dealers to attack Alan was too difficult.

Alan increased his attack speed and intensity. By the time the team cleared ⅓ of the minions Alan had chipped down the leader's HP down to 10% which made them enter the rage mode.

"What already?" The team leader was flabbergasted. He had underestimated Alan's damage output.

He had thought of clearing the minions first and then facing the weakened leader monsters later. But who would have thought the leader monsters would be in a near death state when they had only cleared only ⅓ of the minions.

"Don't wait for us. Take them down if you have a chance." The team leader shouted as he engaged the minions.

Alan stopped hesitating and charged up his arrows. With one shot each he took out the leader class lizards.

This disoriented the minions that were attacking in an organised manner which gave the rest an opening to crush them. Alan also didn't hold back and helped the rest to slay the minions.

Within 5 minutes they cleared the rest of the cave.

Meanwhile Alan's level shot up like crazy to level 29. Mainly thanks to the cross level kill multiplier. Everyone got envious of him. They all remembered the days they spent grinding just to increase one level and Alan here on the other hand was leveling up as if he was drinking water.

They all sighed and dispersed to pick up loot. With Alan's current combat prowess they had no doubt he would rise up to be a big shot in the future.

Alan didn't bother with the drops as they had a drop distribution system for the team. He took a deep breath. The air in the cave was rich in fire element mana compared to outside. So Alan decided to meditate for a while and focus on the fire element mastery until the rest of the team wrapped things up. Alan chopped up a good chunk of elemental crystal while he was at it to increase his efficiency.

By this time Alan has already become a core damage dealer of the team. So no one bothered him with menial tasks and allowed him to rest. After 5-10. Minutes later they set off again towards the depth.

On their way they experienced numerous fights with the levels of the lizards increasing as they went inside. After encountering 3 such caves on their way Alan's level hit level 40 with all his attributes maxed out.

At this point Alan could not gather anymore exp no matter how he killed the monster. This made Alan dejected and demotivated Alan which reduced his kill rate.

After going on and on like this for 3 and half hours, their team met up with the other two teams. The next chamber is likely to be the boss chamber so all the routes interjected here.

After planning out a strategy and a new battle formation, they set off.

Inside the huge chamber, a huge lizard with reddish-blue scales and purple light bleeding through the cracks of its scales lay resting on a huge elemental crystal platform. There was a guardian level lizard which oversaw the minions which arranged the mined crystal onto the platform.

The team went inside as planned. First the assassin class will sneak inside with their camouflage and rig some explosives in the key areas like the areas lizards would gather once they discover them.

Then they would retreat, maintaining their camouflage. The main team would enter now at this moment and the tanks leading in front would use taunt to gather the minions in the designated positions.

Although they might not take all the minions, they still could take out most of the minions.

As planned they took out most of the minions. They now had to face the boss' guardian. For some reason the boss seemed to be in deep hibernation and did not wake up after such a commotion.

As long as the boss did not intervene while they took down the guardian everything will be good. But as the group leader saw the light flashing on the surface of the boss's body his pupils constricted, and a chill coursed through his body.
