The warmth of the kitchen had long since faded, leaving only the cold whisper of steel in Cole's mind.
The pho bowls had been rinsed, the girls drifting into their rooms to nurse their hangovers or swap gossip behind closed doors. But Cole—he hadn't moved. He stood there, elbows on the counter, hands clasped before his mouth, staring at nothing.
Kha'Zix is here.
The words looped in his mind like a curse. He didn't need a detailed briefing. He didn't need Vi's confirmation. He knew the signature of that kind of slaughter, that kind of hunger.
Kha'Zix doesn't kill. He evolves.
And if he was in this world, outside the Void, draining civilians like juice boxes, then things were worse than anyone realized.
Cole exhaled, slow and controlled.
Then he opened the System.

This… looks like the League shop.
The layout, the categories, even the item descriptions—it was all eerily familiar. That familiarity became his anchor as he searched for something to counter Kha'Zix.
"High burst, physical damage, excels in isolation…"
He narrowed his options. "I'll need durability—and something that blunts the impact of those slashes."
With priorities clear, he began selecting what he needed.

The elevator ride to the underground levels of K/DA HQ was silent. He used Ahri's override code—she trusted him with it now. That alone meant something.
The doors slid open to reveal a private gym, a training floor… and beyond it, a reinforced equipment vault.
He scanned his ID, entered the override.
With a heavy mechanical groan, the vault opened.
Rows of gear lined the walls—training weapons, experimental tech, enchanted armor pieces, even League-issue prototypes. Stuff left behind from collaborations, or maybe smuggled in under Piltover's radar.
His hand brushed over a sleek black bodysuit with flexible armor plates—Kai'Sa's stealth tech. Too tailored.
He'd have to train with the new weapon he bought.
He stood before a mirror now, armored in layers of pragmatic readiness. Reinforced boots. A fitted undersuit to absorb impact. Wrist guards he didn't recognize, but which hummed faintly with arcane shielding. The weapon slung across his back. Stasis around his neck.
He looked like a half-trained warrior, half scavenger.
But his eyes—his eyes had changed.
Then the door behind him creaked.
Ahri stepped in quietly, still in her robe, ears low. ""Where are you going?"
Cole met her gaze in the mirror. "You saw the news."
"I saw enough," she said, stepping closer. "I know that look. You're going to do something reckless."
"Doing nothing would be worse," he replied, calm but certain. "If I don't move first, more people will die."
"And what if you die?" she whispered.
He turned, facing her fully.
"I won't," he said. "I can't. Not yet. This isn't a one off thing, I know it's related to the void"
Ahri's lips pressed into a thin line. Her tails curled close, shielding her like a barrier of fluff and fear. "Then take this."
She pressed something into his hand.
A pendant. Simple. Silver. Her scent lingered on it—citrus and moonlight.
"It's enchanted," she said softly. "Wards off mind tampering. The Void likes to… whisper."
Cole closed his fingers around it. "Thank you."
A long beat passed between them.
Then she stepped forward, brushed her fingers against his jaw, and said, "Come back."
"I will."
He left her standing there, her silhouette framed by the flickering lights of the city.
[Mission Objective Updated]
Track the anomaly. Identify Kha'Zix. Survive.
Cole moved through the shadows of the city, System active, instincts sharp. He followed traces—scorched alleys, torn asphalt, the sour stink of Void energy.
Each sign led deeper into the underbelly. Into places the light never touched.
The air grew colder.
Then, at the edge of an abandoned metro station, he saw it.
A long gouge carved into concrete. Three parallel lines.
Claws.
Fresh.
And in the silence that followed, Cole heard something impossible.
Laughter.
Low. Guttural. Close.
Not just a hunt.
A game.
Cole tightened his grip on the staff.
"I've been expecting you…The void, she spoke to me"
The Void had come to feast.
But this time… the prey was fighting back.
