Adrian laid Xavier gently on the bed, his movements careful, deliberate, like one wrong touch might shatter him completely. I didn't wait. I shoved aside a woven blanket, dropped my kit on the mattress, and popped the clasps open. The scanstone confirmed what I feared his temperature was spiking into the danger zone, his heart rate was inconsistent, breathing was shallow.
"Selene, I need cold compresses now. Adrian, lift his shirt."I said.
Adrian's hands moved instantly, exposing Xavier's too pale torso. Sweat clung to his skin. I placed the sensor disks on his chest, watching the sigils light up flickering like they were unsure if they wanted to keep going.
"He's decompensating. Fast. His system's failing to regulate hormone output, and the pregnancy's drawing too much energy."I explained.
"Fix it." Jaxon snapped behind me, pacing like a caged wolf.
I didn't even look at him.
"If you want to help, get out of my way."I said.
