Leo kicked a stray pebble as he walked beside Luna, his brow furrowed and his mood darkening by the second.
"I swear, if Siegfried or anyone else brings that up one more time, I'm going to lose it. Every single time. 'Leo, talk to Nero, you worked with him before.' Like that wasn't over five years ago."
He muttered.
Luna raised an eyebrow but didn't interrupt.
"At the time, I was a new hunter. Barely licensed. Nina was worried I'd screw up on my first real outing, so she came along. That's all it was. She stayed out of sight and made sure nothing exploded. But no—people had to twist it into something else. One time. That's all it took for everyone to start assuming things."
"I know. That's why I made sure my first assignment was away from both of you."
Luna said calmly.
Leo blinked.
"Seriously?"
"Seriously. I knew people would say I had it easy. That I only made it because had Nero's support. So I picked an overseas gate. No backup, no family. Just me and the monsters."
