The moment Nina's shadow binds held the statue down, Kevin unleashed his magic, and Seigfried charged forward with his blade flashing.
Hwan, panting from exertion, joined in with a heavy strike of his own. The statue cracked from the pressure, the holy light in its eyes flickering out before its stone body shattered into a hundred jagged pieces.
The explosion of divine energy rushed through the room, knocking them all back a step. And then, without warning, the nobles and guards who had been standing around the chamber let out an inhuman screech.
Their forms twisted grotesquely, skin splitting to reveal clawed limbs, elongated jaws, and shimmering scales. One by one, the nobles turned into monsters.
"The dungeon's breaking down!"
Kevin shouted, shielding his face from the collapsing ceiling.
"It was the core. The statue… was the heart of this place."
Nina muttered.
Seigfried looked around at the shifting landscape.
