Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Conis Boards the Ship, Enel Arrives Late and Apologizes—Farewell, Enel!

As soon as Renault finished speaking, thunder rumbled in the distant sky.

"God!! Who angered God this time?!"

"He's going to punish us all!!"

Countless residents of Skypiea panicked and looked up in horror. That long-familiar fear seized their hearts once more.

"Trying to run? It's too late now!!!"

"Wretched Blue Sea dwellers, how dare you speak ill of God behind his back?! Only death can cleanse your sins!"

A voice filled with arrogance and pride echoed across the heavens.

"G-God!!!" The people of Skypiea dropped to the ground the moment they caught sight of Enel, their bodies limp with dread.

"Enel… you've been tailing us this whole time—aren't you tired yet?" Renault couldn't help but laugh.

He'd sensed Enel sneaking behind them from the beginning, but oddly, the so-called God never made a move.

Doesn't that seem a little... off-character?

"You… you actually know the name of God?!" Enel looked at Renault in shock. He had clearly prepared well, but this sense of not being in control made him extremely uncomfortable.

Still, that wasn't the point now.

"Please, God! They meant no harm. Spare them, I beg of you!" Conis waved her arms in desperation, pleading for Renault and the others.

Here, even the slightest doubt in God meant certain death.

"10 Million Volt—Thunderbird!"

Unable to restrain himself any longer, Enel struck the drum on his shoulder with his golden staff. With a crackling hiss, a massive thunderbird erupted from the skies, screaming toward Renault and the others.

It's over, they all thought. We're finished!

BOOM!!!

A layered wall of compressed clouds shot up from the ground, intercepting the lightning in midair.

At the same time, electricity left only an afterimage—Nami vanished from her position in an instant.

"Lightning? No… that's impossible," Enel's pupils shrank, his face twisting in disbelief.

"No one but God can wield lightning!!"

"You've been talking nonsense long enough!!!" Nami reappeared in front of Enel, her blackened fist crashing directly into his skull.

"Foolish girl. Your attack means nothing to a go—"

BOOM!!!

Crack!

Enel's face twisted grotesquely. Blood and teeth sprayed from his mouth.

"For bullying Conis, for tormenting these people—I'll make you pay!!!"

Nami, burning with rage, didn't let up. Before Enel could even hit the ground, she blitzed after him like a flash of light.

"That Blue Sea girl just punched God?!!"

"She's stronger than Enel?!"

"How is this even possible?!"

The people of Skypiea stared in open-mouthed shock. But deep down, they were elated.

If a Blue Sea person could defeat Enel… then maybe they didn't have to live in fear anymore.

Maybe they could finally be free.

Everyone clenched their fists without realizing it, their nerves taut with anticipation.

"Nami, teach that bastard a lesson!"

"Don't hold back, Nami!!!"

"Go, Nami-nee!! You're amazing!!"

From the crowd, Vivi, Tashigi, and the other girls cupped their hands and shouted cheers for Nami.

What they hated most… were people like Enel—those who abused power to hurt the weak.

Conis stared blankly at the sky. Nami's fury toward Enel blazed without restraint—and Enel could offer no resistance.

She turned to look at Renault.

"Conis," he said calmly, "you've lived on Skypiea your whole life. Have you ever thought about going down to the sea below?"

Glancing briefly at the one-sided fight, Renault lost interest.

To him, what lay ahead was far more important.

"The sea… below?" Conis's eyes sparkled.

Of course she had dreamed of it.

Every time a visitor from the Blue Sea came, they spoke of wondrous oceans and adventures. Conis had longed to see it for herself.

But no one had ever guided her, and she'd never dared to leave alone. Worse still, Enel's surveillance made it impossible. Anyone who tried to escape Skypiea was punished without mercy.

Eventually, she gave up the dream.

Renault smiled gently. She wasn't just beautiful—she was bright and pure-hearted.

"Conis, join my crew. I'll take you to see all sorts of amazing places. You'll never be alone again."

He could see her yearning for the world below.

All she'd lacked was the means to act on it.

"Nami only became so powerful because she followed the captain," Robin added softly, gently brushing Conis's forehead.

"If you meet someone like Enel again, you'll be able to protect Skypiea and the people you love."

Renault gave Robin a glance of admiration. He really did love her for that.

Conis looked up slowly. She watched Nami beat Enel senseless and whispered, "One day, can I be as strong as Nami-nee?"

"Of course," Renault nodded firmly.

This wasn't an empty promise.

Given enough time, every girl on his ship could grow to rival even the most powerful foes.

Observation Haki, Armament Haki—any of them could awaken it.

And someone like Enel? They'd be no more than a stepping stone.

"Brother Renault… if you can really make me that strong… then I want to leave this place with you."

After a brief hesitation, Conis made her decision.

She remembered the countless innocents who had died under Enel's rule. Her gentle features twisted in sorrow.

If she'd been strong enough back then, everything could've been different.

"Conis, you won't regret it. Welcome to the Renault Pirates." He opened his arms naturally.

She blinked in surprise.

Wait… is this the ritual to join a pirate crew?

So warm. So kind.

Just as Renault gathered new beauties, his days of fun had only just begun—though it always stirred chaos with the others, too.

Suddenly, a loud crash echoed nearby.

Conis turned instinctively—and gasped.

The once-terrifying Enel was now a crumpled heap. His limbs were twisted and broken, his precious drums missing, and most shockingly—

His lower half… looked utterly useless.

Even though they'd barely known each other, Nami had vented all her fury on him.

Favorability for Nami!

Favorability for the Renault Pirates!

Renault approached Enel like a king surveying a bug.

"Still think you're a god?"

Enel trembled, head shaking like a rattle. "Never again—never again…"

Renault gently pulled Conis to his side.

She took a step back instinctively, her fear of Enel still lingering in her heart.

"Don't be afraid." Renault smiled reassuringly.

Then he turned to the stunned residents of Skypiea.

"Right now—immediately—apologize to Conis and every single person you hurt!!"

"Repent for your sins!!"

His voice was like thunder, breaking their trance.

As if awakened, the people of Skypiea looked around in disbelief.

Had Renault just demanded that Enel apologize?!

Was this really happening?

Even Enel hadn't processed it yet—he was still trapped in his delusion of godhood.

Ssshhh—

A gleaming blade suddenly pressed to his throat, and Enel stumbled backward in terror.

These people were monsters.

Beautiful monsters.

Worse than him in every way.

Cold sweat poured down his face. Time seemed to stop.

Silence swept the crowd.

Everyone held their breath.

"...I'M SORRY!!!" Enel finally screamed, his voice hoarse and trembling, heavy with humiliation and fear.

"I deserve to die! I can't be forgiven!!"

Conis and the others were stunned.

They barely heard the rest of his words—only that one phrase echoed in their minds.

"I'm sorry…"

"Hahaha… God?! There's no such thing!!!"

"Enel, this is karma!!"

"Enel, you bastard, you killed my brother over one complaint!"

"Poetic justice, Enel!!!"

The citizens of Skypiea jeered, letting out all the rage they'd held in for years.

No one had ever imagined this day would come.

But here it was.

After venting, the entire island knelt before Renault and his crew.

"Thank you!! Thank you for saving Skypiea!!"

"You changed our fate!!"

Their grateful cries echoed far and wide.

"Everyone, rise. This was only justice. Now, go live your lives." Renault smiled and nodded.

The villagers wiped away tears, bowed again, and hurried to share the news: Enel had fallen.

Conis wept openly.

If not for Renault, how long would they have remained in Enel's grip?

"How about now—do you still believe gods exist?" Renault teased with a smile.

Conis stuck out her tongue and shook her head firmly. "There are no gods. Only people pretending to be."

"That's right." He playfully tapped her nose.

cough cough cough…

A sudden, ill-timed cough shattered the happy mood. Renault's expression darkened.

He placed a hand on Enel's head—lightning surged instantly into his body.

CRACK!!

Enel's pupils dilated, and with one final shudder, he collapsed—lifeless.

The false god… was no more.
