When Gerard saw Elio leaving, he straightened up.
"I guess it's time for me to get going as well. Better return to my duties."
"Thank you, Gerard. For watching our fight," Lucien said with a sincere smile.
Then he subtly shifted his eyes toward Marceline, trying to signal something.
Marceline rolled her eyes with a weary expression before reluctantly turning toward Gerard.
"Thanks, Gerard."
Gerard awkwardly rubbed the back of his head, a shy, faint smile appearing on his face.
"Haha, no problem. Watching over you guys can be considered part of my duties too, after all."
He then raised a hand in farewell as he walked toward the royal palace.
"Take care. And don't hesitate to call me again."
Lucien lifted his hand in return, waving warmly.
"Sure thing. See you around, Gerard."
As Gerard disappeared through the palace doors, Marceline shot Lucien a disgusted glance.
"What?" Lucien asked, irritated.
Marceline rested her hand on her waist, her face showing clear discomfort.
"Do you really have to suck up to everyone like that?"
Lucien stared at Marceline in disbelief.
"It's not called sucking up—it's called getting along with people, Marceline."
Marceline ignored the comment, turning her head away indifferently.
A gentle spring breeze rustled softly through the trees in the royal gardens, whispering through the leaves. Marceline felt the delicate touch of the wind against her skin and took in the sweet fragrance of freshly blossoming flowers.
Gradually, she relaxed and gazed into the distance, quietly savoring the peace of this pleasant day.
